When I approached the area(the Broadway side of Grand Central Market, close to Egg Slut) I was greeted by Ben. Nice individual and helpful all around. I was looking for something unique as a gift for my buddy who’s getting into the craft cocktail scene. Based on this, Ben grab Nick and Ryan for assistance and they offered some great recommendations on rye whiskeys, fernets, and bitters. Grabbed a few things for my buddy, especially the Fernet Francisco, a pinor-noir wine aged fernet. Also the Hudson Manhattan Rye Whiskey was something I picked up and it is delicious and a great whiskey for cocktails. Great recommendations from the guys here and enjoyed the conversations with them all. I will return and return many times for all unique varieties they have that are not normally found elsewhere.

Way more expensive than everybody else by far. This apprears to pay for shorter hours, lack of lotto tickets and a curated selection(ie, they won’t have the brand your looking for). In some ways this is a good idea. It keeps the counter clear and cuts down on people drinking swill. It also means that someone who knows why a bottle is good will help you. For people looking for a regular liquor store, these nuances turn into complete deal breakers. I’d say this is more like a ‘grad school experiment in social programming’ than a ‘for profit store’ who will stock what the customer wants. Well, it will be an fascinating experiment while it is open. oh, and their website is basically a blank logo as of today. Nice and opaque explanation.

Originally when I heard of Courage and Craft coming to Grand Central Market… I WASSTOKED that they were opening a bar. To my disappointment, it is not a bar… BUT it’s not the end of the world since they are still fantastic First, I just love the name and logo… and general branding. Once inside GCM, you can locate Courage and Craft on the same side as the ever so ridiculously popular Egg Slut. It’s on the less traveled and quieter side, but hard to miss. They have a lot of shelf displays with a decent selection of booze and wine, and some commercial sliding fridges with beer and ciders. It’s not the biggest selection, but it is a finely curated and expertly-selected one. C&C is really convenient if you just finished dinner, and you want to pick up a fancy night cap before heading home. Staff are knowledgable in getting boozy. This place would be SOCLUTCH if you could pick up a 6-pack, uncork at Grand Central Market, and enjoy a beer with your meal. Maybe it will happen one day! You never know!

Do you want to get in good with your boss? Are you in deep shit with the wife and need to fix things with a great bottle of wine(and a bubble bath)? Or, do you just want to make a proper martini and cook up a steak? Courage and Craft is where you start. An extremely intelligent, well crafted shop for all your spirit needs. Whether you’re a connoisseur or just had your first bottle of 2 buck Chuck, these guys will fix you right up. Staff and owners all come from a background full of knowledge on all things booze. I come here whether I need more gin for myself or a quick gift for anyone deserving. An awesome addition to the growing GCM. Stop by to say hello, buy a great bottle of something delicious without getting ripped off and maybe learn a thing or 2 about God’s nectar to the world.
