This place is crushing it now. Absolutely crushing it. Line up the stairs at lunch. But they raised the price of their ceviche by $ 2, their fish tacos by $ 1AND they now charge $ 1 to use a credit card!!! No thank you.

The food here is great and the tostadas filling/fresh. However, this place has been open for less than 1 year and their prices have increased drastically within only a few months time. Initially, a fish ceviche tostada cost only $ 5, it’s now $ 7.50(with tax it comes out to about $ 8.18). That’s about a 50% increase in less than 1 year! Additionally, they charge $ 1 more if you pay with debit/card cards. We’re talking almost $ 10 for a tostada. It’s simply psychotic. I understand the costs associated with running a business/periodically increasing prices to match inflation, etc. But I reiterate, this space has existed for less than 1 year and increased their prices almost every quarter. I also understand rent prices might be high at Grand Central Market but to take advantage of people in such blatant fashion is utterly unacceptable and unethical. I rate them low, not because of the quality of their food but for their unethical practices.

Accidentally ran into the market and subsequently this spot. Amazing accident. Had the tostada mixta. It’s SPICY but delicious. Perfect amount of food. Compliments to the chef!

Normally I use stars to rate the quality of food, service, and value; I think in this instance adjectives best sum up the overall experience. Overpriced, under-seasoned, and slow like molasses service. We ordered the octopus taco($ 10) and the gringo($ 10). You get two tacos per order, but the quantity of food barely satiates a person with an average appetite. So for $ 20, you may or may not be hungry after 20 minutes. Chances are you will be, because half of the tacos are vegetables/herbs and those are like 75% water. Octopus severely lacked seasoning and acidity, even the jicama and cilantro yielded no flavor. All I could taste from the gringo taco is heat, everything was overpowered by spiciness. Lastly, to put into perspective the speed of service. My BF and I simultaneously placed orders, he for tacos and I for chicken n waffles at Belcampo across the way. I receive my orders of chicken n waffles, fries, and walked to Sarita’s pupuseria wait in line for 6min and return with fried plantains still with time to spare to wait 10 more min for his tacos. I mean how long does it take to build them tacos? Load said tortillas with some flash grilled seafood and pre made condiments? I’m sure my fried chicken n waffles and fries would take longer than that. They really need to get their assembly line on fleek.

Located in Grand Central Market, La Tostaderia is a good find! With a limited menu, their most popular items are the aguachile and the octopus tostada. For a reasonable price, you are able to get some of the freshest seafood in Grand Central Market! We got the octopus tostada and it was delicious! Huge chunks of octopus, chewy and full of flavor! Warning though: it packs some heat! Very very yummy though!

I am definitively coming back to this place to eat again! I had the«Mixta Tostada». It was perfect. It had a healthy amount of sea-food perfectly seasoned and nicely stacked-up on a couple of sturdy tostadas. The tostadas were served on a clay-plate with the name of the restaurant. I loved the taste and presentation. My son had the«aguachile» — this had 4 peppers on the menu to indicate the level of spiciness — and please make no mistake: It was spicy!!! Very Spicy! Please know you will be sweating. However, please also know that if you like spicy — you will not be disappointed with this delicious meal. This place is located in the Grand Central Market.

Had the pleasure of trying the: Shrimp tostada Succulent, well seasoned, perfectly marinated shrimp ceviche on two small tostadas. Perfect meal. Definitely coming back!

Tried the fish and shrimp ceviches. I prefer the fish — shrimp was a bit rubbery. Not the freshest ceviche around, but the flavoring is done very well here. IMO the price/portion ratio is generous by hipster LA standards.

Ommmmaaaaaiiiggguuuuuddddd!!! This place is so Bomb!!! I do believe that their customer service can improve much better. One person may have a been a bit prejudice. I will not get into that but their food was awesome. The amount that was served was good for the price as well.

One of the best Mexican restaurants in Southern California! The shrimp tacos are superb, fresh, and delicious! One order comes with two tacos and I was stuffed! Next time definitely will try the shrimp cerviche. Being located in the Grand Central Market, the atmosphere is great but can be quite crowded and stuffy on a busy day. Limited counter seating.

If you want AUTHENTIC, FRESH, MOUTH-WATERING seafood… This is the place to be! Always delicious and always with a nice spicy kick… the shrimp ceviche is my favorite! There’s also octopus, fish and other mixed variety of ceviche. Not to mention the crispy tostadas as the perfect compliment! I wish I didn’t live so far! Or else I’d be here every weekend! Definitely my go-to whenever I’m downtown Perfect for a Sunday afternoon… Plenty of options in Grand Central Market for all types of food-lovers(don’t forget to check out Villa Moreliana for some juicy carnitas!)

Delicious seafood nestled in the middle of grand central market. Surprisingly fresh and spicy! The aguachile is a must, seafood ceviche also delicious. We also ordered the octopus ceviche– a little on the salty side, going to say that is due to octopus being difficult to season. Overall and aside from the overly salty octopus, sumptuous seafood and generous servings for reasonable prices.

Had lunch here the other day, We all ordered the shrimp ceviche which is good, a bit spicy and I like spicy but FYI it’s on the spicy side. It’s a smaller portion size and it’s priced a little high compared to most ceviche I’ve had elsewhere. Overall the food is good and it’s Grand Central which is an awesome place to visit and eat. There’s no A/C and limited seating so if you go on a hot day beware. I’d eat here again and I did like it but it was just okay to me when you factor in the portion size and price. Go check it out, worth a try!

Looooooved the Peruvian octopus tacos!!! Exquisite combination of tastes… It’s an explosion of flavor a that is just too Damn good!!! The aguachile is spicy, as it is supposed to, «milder» versions are not original… So be prepared to eat authentic(and suffer a bit… But worth it!!) I want to return to try all the other tacos and the ceviche! The octopus tostada was ok, but nothing spectacular. It is a bit on the pricier side, but worth it. Great culinary experience

La Tostaderia is solid, delicious, quality seafood. When it opened up, I was like ugh another hipster restaurant in GCM with high prices and subpar food(looking at you, Wexler’s). But after I tried it I was SUPERHOOKED. The seafood is fresh and delicious and the prices are good. I’ve tried the shrimp ceviche, the fish tacos, the shrimp tacos, the gringos tacos, and they’ve all be super delicious. Seriously, you can’t go wrong with any of them, just depends on what seafood you’re in the mood for. There’s really not much else to say, go try it!

Umm just got one thing to say about this place… Shrimp Ceviche! It’s absolutely addicting. You get 2 on a hard tostada shell for less than 7 bucks, but it won’t be enough because you’ll be hooked and want more! So fresh, tasty and refreshing. The lime in it is spot on! Definitely one of the best things to get at Grand Central Market! I haven’t tried anything else from here but I’ll definitely be back. Must try!

Showing up at Grand Central Market in the middle of the lunch rush may not be the world’s most brilliant idea, especially as the number of choices have been increasing exponentially. Lines were long, counters were packed, but then I stumbled upon La Tostaderia, where there was not a line and several folks had just gotten up, so there was plenty of counter space. Now the lack of a crowd can mean you just got lucky, or that can be for a reason. This place just opened(about a month), and so naturally it takes a while to build a rep. But looking on Unilocal, the few reviews that were in were very positive, so I said, as I often say, «What’s one meal?» I ordered the fish ceviche and the Peruvian octopus tacos. On a purely food level, this place is very good. The fish(tilapia) was very fresh and flavorful, well-seasoned and not overpowered with citrus as it was Mario’s Peruvian. While it was served on top of a tostada, I actually enjoyed it the ceviche just as much on its own. The octopus tacos had excellent flavor as well. The octopus was fairly tender(not the most melt in your mouth I’ve ever had, but still very good), and the flavor profiles, which actually reminded me a bit of southeast Asian flavors(with peanut, cilantro and a slightly spicy sauce), were definitely in my wheelhouse. On food alone, this place is 4 ½ stars. So what knocks this down to 2 stars? A glass of water. I asked for one, and was told that they couldn’t serve me water(despite there being sinks and a whole stack of cups) unless I wanted to buy bottled water. In fact, two different people(neither of whom seemed particularly experienced) told me this, and they seemed to be telling me it was a market rule. Yet Bombo served me a glass of water when I was there on my last visit. And I literally pointed to the water glasses on the counter at Belcampo opposite La Tostaderia. Sticky Rice? Water glasses on the counter. I even went up to the woman at the Wexler’s counter and asked if there was any kind of rule against serving water. Of course, then I see the water pitcher in front of my face. Question answered, but the kind Wexler’s server went one better: she said feel free to take some water even if I didn’t buy anything(which was super great, because I could then take the medication I had planned to take over my actual lunch). Of course, nobody at La Tostaderia told me about this problem when I ordered(in fact, nobody even asked me if I wanted something to drink when I ordered), which makes me rather regret dropping almost $ 18 for lunch(doubt there would have been a $ 2.50 tip for counter service if I had known). Folks, your food is very good, but you need to learn to solve customer service problems. Buy a filter, run across to Belcampo(or to pretty much any other stand) and ask them to do you a solid and fill up a glass, offer some kind of substitute, open a $.20 bottle of water – do ANYTHING – but don’t get into a protracted argument with a customer about why you can’t provide something so basic that it’s provided for free in any restaurant in America. Except, apparently, yours. There’s just too much competition in the Market and in LA in general for those kind of lapses, and being«new» isn’t much of an excuse when it comes to the fundamentals. Oh well. As I say, «what’s one meal?»

This was my 3rd stop in my fat foodie adventure in the grand central market and 3 for 3 this place did not disappoint. I was on a mission to sample every establishment and when I came across this place there were no reviews to point me in a general direction. It was just too new. My friend and I almost decided that the one menu item we should try was the mixed cocktail. The description just seemed so appetizing; Octopus, Fish, Shrimp, just a seafood delight. There were so many options on the menu that were just eye-catching. We felt it would’ve been unfair to ourselves if we picked willy nilly without an informed decision. Ultimately we decided to just ask the nice young girl at the register. Immediately and without hesitation she blurted out shrimp tacos. With that much enthusiasm we had no choice but to follow her recommendation. Man oh man was it good. The shrimp were nice and plump. They were very well seasoned and fried to perfection. If you’ve ever eaten a whole shrimp fried shell and all, you’ll know there’s this red oily substance found near the head. It has this melt in your mouth buttery yet substantial seafood taste to it that simply cannot be explained with mere words. The shrimp was coated with some kind of sauce with that oil as the base. If it weren’t for the limited room in my stomach, I definitely would have bought more.
