The fries were quite good, but the burger was nothing special. If you’re going to run an indie burger place, you have to do something better or different from, say, Carl’s. They don’t. Plus, there’s not parking or bathroom. I guess it’s okay if you live within walking distance.

I’ve been on a binge for rotisserie chicken recently and even though I’ve read the reviews, I still wanted to try this for myself. I went exactly at noon this place is a hole in the wall type seats about 15 – 20 customers max. When I went, there were about 5 customers dinning in. I figured hitting them up at this time would be good since they are preparing for the lunch rush. I ordered the mini dinner, which had 1 whole chicken, 3 sides(beans, potato salad, and yellow rice), salsa in a cup, and big stack of tortilla. Costed about $ 15, I ordered for take out, I would say the service was pretty quick took about 10−15min. Pros: The portions for each side dish was decent(equivalent to the large kfc side) and I like the taste rice and beans where flavor full, soft and plump. Potato salad was just average, chopped in large chunks. The cost for the entire meal was cheap considering how much food you get. As I was impressed how heavy it was when carrying out. So its great if your on a budget. Cons: The chicken like everyone said is dry. Even the dark meat like the wing, was so toasted its like your eating chips. Which sadly is the whole meal, even though I like the portion of the sides, at the end its all about the chicken. The skin was intact and flavorful, has your typical lime, salt etc. seasoning. As one Unilocaler said maybe you have to go when its crazy packed so you get it fresh(I thought I went at a pretty decent time). IMO that’s too much work to time that, how do you burn dark meat anyway? I don’t know with other available choices in the area I doubt I will be back. For ex. Baccali, Juan’s chicken off the 60 etc. etc.

Ok… so I’m not one to complain or trash talk an establishment simply because my pallet doesn’t agree with what they are serving… but, I will be doing a great disservice to my fellow Unilocalers if I didn’t come on and give an honest assessment of the rotisserie chicken which seems to be their specialty. I simply ordered a half chicken plate. There were a few chickens cooking on a rotisserie but for my order, the lady at the counter cut up one of the chickens that were sitting there on a warmer. She put it on the char broiler grill to heat it up while she scooped in what looked like canned refried beans and dry Spanish rice. I had my plate to go and my commute back to my office was 10 minutes tops. Chicken was dry and lacked flavor… beans were smothered in old stale cheese… and rice was nothing to write home about. I asked for flour tortillas but all they had was cold/dry corn tortillas. I consider myself a fan of small business but will not be returning to this establishment… I would rather take my chances on King Taco chicken which I’m really not a fan of either. If you want really good rotisserie chicken, try Caveman Kitchen near USC… worth the extra drive!

Stay away. Sadly, I had high hopes for this place, it’s close to my house. The chicken’s poorly seasoned. It has less flavor than the rotisserie chicken you can get at a grocery store, and about as fresh. The fries were frozen, not fresh cut. And they had a strange taste, like the oil wasn’t quite fresh. Go elsewhere, like Fuego Grill on 7th& Main DTLA, or(the best) Pollo A La Brasa on 8th& Western – if it wasn’t so far away, I’d eat there daily.

Loved it. I got two whole chickens and salsa, for a potluck, for only $ 15. Everyone at the party also loved it. They give you grilled jalapenos with the chicken. The chicken tasted fresh. We will definitely be going back.

My routine stop before Dodger game. Clean and cheap. Their chicken is too die for. I am a big skin guy, and it came out PERFECT!!! If you are not a chicken person, try their Pastrami or their burgers. Great local business. It isn’t a Dodger game without going to Chave Pollo. So now my family friends have a saying, «GOTOCHAVEZPOLLOBEFOREGOINGTOCHAVEZRAVINE!!!» Thank you so much! P. S. Try their flautas as well!

Advice: If you’re getting Rotisserie Chicken, wait for a busy time, otherwise you’ll get a dry sad leftover. Nothing special about their fries. Prices are low. Perhaps ordering a bunch of whole chickens on one of their specials will work if it requires them to toast up a new flock. 2 ½ stars. Rounded down. Got to listen to a very vocal 1 or 2 year old trying out their formidable chops on a nearby table. It didn’t help.

I was driving down Cesar Chavez on Friday morning headed to Philippe’s and passed by this brightly colored place that caught my attention with chickens spinning on a rotisserie. So on Monday after reading the great reviews I went to go check it out in the morning. Chickens were not in the window, but were cooked and just sitting in the rotisserie that was shut off in back of the counter. Seemed strange as everyone else pulls their chickens off the spit and puts them in an autosham or halo warmer to ensure the temp is above 140 degrees. Oh, well no big so I thought that chicken doesn’t look appetizing to me like that and eggs are eggs(most of the time) — so hey, that picture of that burger looks delicious(especially in the morning). I ordered the burger and fries since all the reviews said everything is awesome! The food looked great, but let me just say it like it was. The fries were hot, but slightly soggy greasy and tasted like old oil. So I couldn’t eat any after the first few. In regards to the burger it had nice crispy lettuce, small slice of tomato, fair amount of thousand dressing, etc and it was the size of a famous star. But the bun was cold and hamburger was tasteless and too thin in relation to the bun. I had a few bites and again I just couldn’t eat any more. It was not ugly tasting, it just didn’t have any flavor. So, I saved my calories for lunch, covered my food up(so the cook wouldn’t be offended), and threw it away.

Chavez Pollo is G.R.E.A.T. They’re a hidden gem. Friendly, laid-back atmosphere, and awesome fries! The menu has so much variety and everything is done well. Come here if you seriously want to chow down for prices that are as cheap as it gets! What more could you want?

This is a great spot to get a delicious, affordable meal. Breakfast, lunch, or dinner. At this place everyone is treated like family – the owners are so kind and eager to serve, and the food is unmatched in its deliciousness.

I love love love this restaurant! It’s owned by an adorably cute Korean woman. Her name is Young, but they call her Maria. Come on, that’s legit. She’s all smiles and service. Plus, she always hooks it up with the food. :) I come here almost every week and the food is always good. It’s super cheap. I can honestly say that I’ve tried everything on their menu. The breakfast is huge and hearty. The burgers are delicious. The flautas, quesadillas, tacos, and enchiladas are excellent. The fries are my favorite, they’re the thick cut kind :) and the chicken, OMG! Do not get me started on the chicken. YUM. If you do decide to go to this restaurant, do not let the neighborhood or the exterior of this restaurant mislead you. The food is really good and the prices are unbeatable. It’s not gourmet food, it’s simple MexiAmerican food, but it is sooooooo delicious. I never leave this place without a bag filled with french fries and a rotisserie chicken.

Unbelievable, I am the first one to give a review on this finger lickin’ chicken spot on Chesar Chavez. This place has some great chicken, tasy, tender and juicy. Chavez Pollo & Burger is specialized in chicken or as they call it pollo. You can order them here in bulk; 10, 20, 50, 100, 300 chicken… juicy and tender. It makes it the perfect place to get your grub on, or buy massive pollo when expected and unexpected friends show up at your pad to watch a game or just to chill like friends do. Se Habla Espanol…
