not to be confused with the taco stand right next door. amazing rotisserie chicken (pollo rostizado) for an even more amazing price. i was able to feed 12 – 15 for about $ 40 (this included chicken, tortillas, beans, and salsa)!
friendly service… it really helps if you could (at least try to) speak some spanish.

Unassuming grocery store, I was led into this venue by some talk with one of my clients in Dtown who said King Taco has some great tacos but the taco stand owned by this family serves better tacos. And the Pollo Rositizado is better– its a family receipe. Whaaaa? I’m always in search of reallly good chicken. So off I went. Across the street was King Taco so I got the reference. You walk in and you’ll say, so it’s a Mexican grocery store, ain’t nothin’ here. Look to your right and racks o’ roasting chickens are cookin’– a family recipe as the guy behind the counter confirms. Had to try it to go. I had the lunch special. For under $ 5, I was given half a roasted chicken, tortillas, green and red salsa, rice and beans and a canned drink! I walked out of Chapalita with a silent jaw drop!
The chicken was cooked well, moist, and seasoned with different spices. The skin slightly crispy and moist from a marinade I’ve never had, I was lip smacking for a bit. It had hints of different kinds chile and garlic and was scrummy delicious. Yet the chicken was not spicy. The green and red salsas were equally scrummy and with 10+ tortillas they give you, this serving was clearly enough for 2. $ 2.50 each for a meal for 2? And roast chicken apart from any you’ve had??? Ammmazing!!! Been back 20+ times and still have not gone to the taco stand it owns next door. I’ve served this chicken for a dinner for 10 and it was a super hit, ha! Cheapest meal for 10 ever.
Tip: Open 7 days. The prices are unbelievable. I won’t tell you, you need to see.
Go before 6pm. Savvy cooks and mamas who don’t want to make dinner will buy up all the chicken. You’ve been warned. Theres 2 car parking, street CC parking and breezeway seating also.
