Came here on a Friday early evening and it was empty. My boyfriend order shaved ice, a natural beet orange juice and a torta. After that a gentleman came in and order… it took about 15minutes and turns out they were working on the mans order before us! Wow… really? When I asked about my order the worker finally went to the back and just started working on my boyfriends food. Unbelievable?!! Wtf did I do to get treated so rude?! 20MIN later!!! It started getting a bit busy and another worker started ringing up the customers. I finally asked the guy how much longer for my drink at least. He said one moment… then FINALLY started working on my drink. Seriously, poor fucking customer service and not one single fucking apology. Also the torta was disgusting, my boyfriend threw it away. The meat was dry and inside dressing was wayyy to much. Made the torta look like a complete mess. Please don’t waste your time here. The workers are headless chieckens.

By far the best Bionicos and Mangonadia’s in Highland Park, They are not stingy with the amounts given.

This is the place to go to for a bionico or mangoneada! Service was a little slow, especially since I was the only person there when I ordered, but it was also friendly and personable! I will be returning many more times! They even make a variety of fresh juices and power smoothies!

I got a mangoñada, pretty good. Their ice cream base is really soft so it definitely stands out from other places like this. I recommend it if your in the area. The only reason I didn’t give them five stars was because the lady messed up my order after specifically explaining an ingredient I didn’t want added, and still put it in! The quality of the ice cream was good regardless.

Home-made fruit sorbet is the perfect way to cool down in the 100+ degree weather and while they had a great variety of treats, the mango was my favorite — highly recommended. But unlike more ice cream shops, they serve their frozen treats in styrofoam cups and a medium cup(about 4 small scoups) is priced at $ 2.00. Totally a steal and worth a visit if you’re in the area.

I had a banana split all to my self … No i didn’t finish it! It’s way to much ice cream for one person. Anyways, my chosen ice cream flavors were Vanilla, Rocky Road and Pistachio. Everything was good, except I kept finding frozen little ice cubes in my pistachio and then behold, I bit into a «pebble» /what I though was a super hard pistachio but since I couldn’t bite into it I put the«pebble» down on the table. My dad closer examined it and said it was a ROCK. He right away showed it to the worker in which she dismissed it and said it was Thriftys fault.(that’s where they get there product from) I mean, I wasn’t going to make a big deal out of it OR report and make a claim but common. At least show some proof of care towards your customers. i.e. «Are you ok?, Is there anything we can do? WOULDYOULIKESOME ‘ONTHEHOUSE’ ICECREAM?» Like«yes, please and thank you» lol I do hope this never happens to anyone else, they do have a Grade A on there store front. Let’s hope they keep it that way.

Little rundown shop with awesome bionicos and diablitos. The wait can be long at times but it’s really worth it. Their medium sized bionico is good for about 3 people. Super yummy on a summer day!

The owner is a rude creeper! He used key to open bathroom while I was there!!! I am so regret that I didn’t report to the police!!! Girls, be careful and be aware! Protect yourself and call police if you see anything weird and uncomfortable! I came to this place to have some ice with friends. Afterwards, I went to use the bathroom. I walked in and locked it inside. When I am zipping my skirt, someone was using a key try to open to door and successfully opened it. I yelled at that person the whole time, hey hey, no no. He didn’t listen. Finally he opened the door and stare at me. I told him to go away. He yelled at me «you need to have a key» while he was staring at me the whole time. The bathroom doesn’t have any sign to ask for keys from owners, it was open and able to lock inside, which fits all the quality of a normal no-key needed bathroom. He saw me using the bathroom, normally people would say sorry or excuse me, he didn’t say any apology but straight yelling at me. Normally people would walk say immediately, instead of that, he was staring me the whole time. I had a horrible and terrified experience at this place. I failed to protect myself and got yelled at for something that is not my fault. As a customer, I got the worst treatment possible, as a female, I got the owner invalidated my privacy. I don’t recommend anyone come to this place anymore. I want guys to watch out for your girlfriends and female friends, I want girls to be careful and stand up for yourself, protect yourself!!!

My two favorite items on the men are the Bionico which literarily means Bionic … Go figure … I wonder what the story is behind that. It consists of cantaloupe, fresh strawberries, apples and bananas topped with a honey infused yogurt, raisins, coconut shavings and granola !!! A small one could be considered a meal. My second favorite is the Mangoneada… It consists of Mango sherbet on top of mango chunks topped with Chamoy which is a sour and chili sauce that makes your mouth water. This all makes for a sweet, sour n’ chili party in your mouth. These are both great on summer days which in SoCal are everyday. Enjoy !!!

They have pretty good ice creams that are made here and from scratch. They are Mexican style Nieves, that can be made in milk(for a creamy taste) or ice(for my lactose intolerant sister) lol we both can get a yummy treat here after we eat next door. The owner is also very nice and informative of his menu. I had questions to what a mangoneada was and he cleared it all up for me.

Moved over 31 Flavors. This community-based business demonstrates the heart-and-soul of Highland Park. Unpretentious and authentic, this spot serves up over 20 different sweet and savory tastes to tease your ethnic taste buds. The owner is ALWAYS working and Champurrado is pretty darn good at this location. I usually enjoy a Nieve(usually Tamarindo) with a kiss of Chamoy for a spicy kick. My spouse LOVES the Lime Nieve. Give them some love. Easy on the pocket book and packed with sweet delights!

Juice Is Good I’ve only tried this place once. My initial reaction was, «Wow!» Watermelon juice is Delicious, about as tasty as you can expect. Then I ordered a Mango juice, and it was way too sweet, they must have added a couple of extra teaspoons of sugar :( That said, I definitely want to stop by again and try some of the other items(Raspados, Bionicos, Ice Cream) on their menu which look extremely delicious.

OMGLOOOOOVE. I was canvassing in the area and we took a break. I found this place via Unilocal and am SO glad we went! I had the bionicos con crema dulce, which was a delicious fruit salad with a sweet cream and topped with granola, coconut, and raising. OMG so good and refreshing. The small was $ 3.50 I believe. I also got a watermelon juice for $ 3 and my partner got the mango sorbet with chamoy. WHATANAWESOMEBREAK. I LOVETHISCITYSOOMUCH. I didn’t have the belly room to try their tamales or the other sorbets/ice creams, but would love to go back. It’s a small place, but they serve delicious, simple, and fresh snacks and OHMYGOD I LOVETHISCITYSOOOMUCH.
