Ordered the garlic tossed noodles with filet mignon and didn’t get any filet mignon. Payed $ 12. Oh well.

5 stars for the Shaken Beef. It is so damn good. Filet mignon with onions on tomato rice with a lovely side salad. Delicious!

It’s been almost a year since my last Unilocal review. That’s how good this food truck is — I have come out of my hiatus to give the An Nam food truck major points! I discovered this gem several weeks ago while searching for a quick place to grab lunch during work. Luckily, this food truck was within walking distance, on Ocean Park and 31st Street in Santa Monica. I did a quick Unilocal search and saw several recommendations for the grilled pork patty banh mi sandwich, so I decided to try it out. It was SO good. The flavors were fantastic, the bread was very fresh, and the portion was surprisingly large. Very much worth the $ 7. Since my initial visit, I’ve returned twice. Each time, the sandwich is consistently just as good as it was the first time(one of these days, I’ll have to explore other items on the menu). The gentleman taking the orders is super friendly, and the wait time for orders is very reasonable. If you’re ever searching for some food truck eats, definitely check out An Nam’s twitter to see if they’re in your area(e.g. Santa Monica, Downtown LA). Or just look for the bright green truck! Quick tip: Credit cards are accepted but there is a 50 cent transaction charge.

Got the garlic shrimp noodles for lunch and had enough for the next day! So so good! Nice sized shrimp and decent price. Also got a half order of egg rolls which were pretty good as well. I’ll be looking for this truck at my job often! Can’t wait to try the sandwiches as well.

Nice people, great food. Go early as lines get long. Recommend fried egg bahn mi sandwich. Don’t love the curry special, but everything else is AMAZING.

The garlic noodles are outstanding as is the Thai tea. It’s also incredibly cheap and the guy serving us was really really nice and friendly. This truck deserves waaaaay more recognition.

I’ve tried Bahn Mi near and far and I can say with confidence that An Nam has the best in the city(or at least West of the 110 and north of Long Beach.) I try to stop by their truck every Wednesday on Pennsylvania in Santa Monica(on Thursday they’re nearby on Olympic) and they never disappoint. The staff is super friendly and they always remember my name, which is not easy! What originally hooked me is the stellar pork patty Bahn Mi. It’s about as much food as one can find for $ 6.50– huge, ultra delicious, and full of fresh ingredients. When I was good and familiar with the pork patty, I ventured on to the pulled pork banh mi. Somehow it was even better! Now I can’t decide between the two so I go for a super custom half and half– advanced, I know, but extremely rewarding. I haven’t had much aside from the banh mi so I can’t personally recommend the other items, but the sandwiches are so good that there’s no need to look elsewhere. *DON’T BEFOOLEDBYTHERIVALVIETNAMESETRUCKDOWNTHESTREET! This food truck is great. I ordered the grilled pork banh mi and a side of garlic noodles. Both very delicious. Although the noodles were a bit cold :). The bread is the bomb.

So addicted to the An Nam Food Truck! My lunch every single Tuesday. While I still love the Shrimp Garlic Noodles, the Filet Mignon Banh Mi, and the Shaking Beef, I’ve been stuck on stupid over my new favorite — the Vietnamese Lomo Saltado!(Bo Xao Khoai Tay). It’s a menu specialty dish. I was hooked from the first bite. I usually get it with double salad because their salad has a crisp and refreshing taste. It’s perfect. And of course, I still get a side order of those Shrimp Pork Eggrolls. Out of this world. Seriously though. That sauce… I can’t even! Another staple — the Vietnamese Iced Coffee. Aww lawd, how I wish I could have one every day. Delicious and strooong! If you like iced coffee, you must try it. Service is always super friendly. Can’t rave enough about An Nam. I love it.

I always hit up this truck whenever I see it on food truck alley(usually Wednesdays). I’ve tried a lot of things on the menu but the best item is hands down the grilled pork patty banh mi. The pork patty is super juicy and the crab sauce they put in it takes the sandwich to another level. Legit.

Had the filet mignon banh mi and tamarind wings. The steak was good, but the overall sandwich was not memorable. The wings were on the soft side, and the flavor was a little off-putting. Memorable but not in a good way. May try the filet entrée next time, which looked better. All seemed expensive for what you get.

The food here is foreign. I never tried a Vietnamese sandwich, I was quiet impressed with the flavor. I order the filet minion, the meat was cooked to perfection, with different vegetables in the sandwich complimenting the meat. I thought the prices was a bit high($ 10) but I was satisfied, I split the sandwich with a friend, so half a sandwich was not enough for lunch, will be back because the people were very friendly.

BAHNMI from this place… no really keep me away from this place! I found my new guilty pleasure. My first time ever to try out this Vietnamese sandwich called Bahn Mi. I’ve always steered away from this type of sandwich because I felt that it wouldn’t be worth eating all that carb stuffed with just a few simple ingredients(especially vegetarian) but I was wrong. An Nam Vietnamese food truck did an amazing job with their soy chicken bahn mi at The Victorian — Santa Monica’s Tuesdays Food Truck event. I ordered mine with added fried eggs… WOW. Definitely worth checkin out the food trucks and great setting to hang and eat your food al fresco style, even more so with a great company. I can’t wait to try the rest on their menu!

Oh how much I’ve missed banh mi. When I used to live in Philadelphia there were lots of banh mi shops and I had my very favorite. I’ve had banh mi-like sandwiches(like at mendocino’s) but this truck’s was my first old school banh mi since being in Los Angeles. I always get the vegetarian ones. Crispy bread, jalapeños galore and just a mess of umami-goodness inside. Refreshingly light. They’re out on Grand and 3rd every Tuesday. Someday I might try another thing on the menu, at the moment in enjoying the banh mi too much to, though.

Shaken beef with tomato rice and salad is satisfying but can be very salty. The garlic noodles are tasty but too thick. You’re better off getting spaghetti with aglio e olio at Centanni Trattoria — adding shrimp, of course. Speaking of shrimp, the shrimp at An Nam is decent but too small, and the filet mignon is fine by food truck standards but could be juicier and less chewy.

I felt entitled to update my review for this truck as I continuously come here and realized that my previous 3 star rating was a bit low. Definitely one of the better food trucks that come on Food Truck Alley on weekdays and I really do enjoy the food here. I’ve ventured away from the sandwiches(you can get much better sandwiches elsewhere for cheaper :/) and tried their other dishes. Their garlic shrimp noodles are actually really good and their special is my new favorite. The special, to me, is the best deal. $ 9 for a HUGE plate of vermicelli, nem nuong, meat, and salad. Pretty delicious. If you’re feeling like a refreshing drink, try the passionfruit green tea! It’s pretty good and when I feel like splurging, I always get it. Overall, a solid 4 stars. Delicious lunch food and wonderful service. They always remember me! :)

They have huge banh mi sandwiches. I mean huge. It puts Subway’s «footlong» to shame. Last time I got the steak and I’m pretty sure I’ve tried the pork before as well. Both meats are on the tougher side and could be juicier, and the bread is never as fresh as I’d like, but otherwise it’s not bad. I’ve also gotten the spring rolls, which are fresh but a bit heavy with the noodles and light with the veggies. Not bad for a truck that comes right up to the building.

UnilocalINSIDERTIPFROMDOREEN(AKAAZNPERSUASION): 3.5 stars — the shrimp spring rolls were good. Soft, fresh, and yummy. ***** The pork meat balls were okay, a little on the sweet side. The weird thing about this truck is, he swiped my credit card, but didn’t have me sign or give me a receipt, so I was super skeptical about that… And I didn’t realize it until too late. :P

What a great bahn mi! I had the pork and asked for it with pâté, not sure if it is included on theirs or not, but I didn’t want to chance it NOT being on. Everything else included. This bahn mi is huge! It was maybe 11″ long, and had a thick pork patty, almost like spam, in terms of thickness, but tasted hand made, and looked pressed, it was delicious. Such great pork seasoned flavor, and the cilantro, with the pickled carrots, etc. all worked to be just amazing. I would say it was the best bahn mi I have had yet. Can’t wait to spot this little gem again and buy another. The service was very polite, and very quick even on a busy food truck gathering.

I saw this truck for the first time last Friday in Granada Hills. I like trying new trucks and decided to give this one a try. My nephew was with me, it’s always an advantage to have someone with me, that way we can split a few meals and try more trucks! We decided to split a Asian BBQ Pulled Pork Banh Mi which consists of Pulled Pork, Pickled Carrots, Daikon Radish, Cilantro, Sliced Cucumbers, Jalapeño Peppers on a 12 inch Baguette. I placed the order and in just a few minutes we had our Banh Mi. We sat down in the chairs that An Nam had set up and dug in. Both my nephew and myself enjoyed the Banh Mi, it had the right combination of ingredients to bring out the flavor without having a single ingredient become overpowering. I know we all have our own formula for devising our ratings here on Unilocal.I try to be fair and factor in the whole experience, such as: Was the food good, the value, cleanliness, service, and anything else that may pertain to the particular business I’m rating. After all my regular considerations An Nam came up with a very solid 4.5. This time I factored in one more thing which I haven’t done before and that was the ridiculous and unfair review by Scott M. To make up a little for that vindictive and obviously uncalled for review I awarded an extra 0.5 bonus points bringing me to a full 5 star rating for An Nam!
