I loved coming here with my family sad it had closed, I enjoyed watching sports here and they had really great customer service

To the owners of The Boardwalk: I have enjoyed your wonderful restaurant since the mid-70s — a wide variety of reasonably priced food and a wonderful vibe. Great place to hang out to eat and watch sporting events. Heard you’re looking for a new location in the Los Altos area. Please make it happen. I would love to return. Best wishes.

Been coming here for 25 years. Best pizza anywhere. Just saw they closed and hope to relocate in the future. I hope so!

So sad to hear this place is closing due to corporate greed. Another great place destroyed by someone who wants to make a buck and destroy history. Because we need more office space. I used to love close to here and would stop by often for cheesesteaks and late night food. It had good pizza and a great locals atmosphere. It will be missed.

I didn’t realize this was a chain, but the food was awesome — same as the Garrett, the other place I’ve been to. As far as I am concerned this place is ALL about the pie — great pizza! They get one star docked for two reasons — 1 the night we were there, it was so busy they didn’t have anyone to bus tables — behind us was this mutant dirt table where everyone kept bussing tables to take a seat — when we were leaving, I saw someone finally come to pick up all the dirty dishes and she had made at least 4 trips and was not finished. 2 — when your grill can be seen by the public, it should be clean. I was happy my food was cooked in the pizza oven instead. But seriously people — order the gilroy garlic pizza, and sub out the white sauce for red, and thank me in the morning — or curse me because you ate too much pizza.

Warm beer, mediocre food, poor service. Think of Chucky Cheese without the upholstered rat and the games. Unless you want to host a children’s party, stay away.

Was raised in Saratoga, where we have a sister location, called Jake’s. When I emerged from the whob, I was eating Gilroy Special, true story. My first steps were towards a Gilroy Special suspended by fishing line. And my first kiss was that of garlicy girloy special all up on my breath. So, I was SHOCKED to discover that the Boardwalk makes a BETTER Girloy Special than Jakes! They just cook it to the perfect temperature, so the cheese and toppings are warm to hot, not crusty or ever over cooked. The sauce also seems to have better separation between the heavy cream, the white wine, and the garlic gloves. Love it.

First tip …, you walk up to counter/register to order and pay. Then will be given a buzzer to notify you when your food is ready for pick up. Today I tried the regular cheeseburger with a side of fries. You get a good deal of fries. The burger party is grilled on the cook top and has onion, tomato, romaine, relish, mustard, mayo and cheese. It’s ok my preference is still Paul Martins.

Love this place. It’s the kind if greasy bar food you crave and it’s open later than most any other place in Los Altos. And the food is actually quite good, esp the pizza and the onion rings. Not healthy, but good!

I have no idea why so many reviewers are saying The Boardwalk is a great place to watch the game. It’s not! There are only 4 TVs in the entire restaurant and two of them are behind the bar. They have a sign in front advertising Direct TVNFL Sunday Ticket, but in my mind it’s completely pointless as they were only showing one game on all TVs on the Sunday we visited… of course it was during a Niners game. Regardless, a good sports bar would have at least one TV showing another game, especially if the one on TV is a total blowout. Otherwise friendly staff and huge pizzas with generous toppings. A little weird because you have have to order at the counter, but plenty of beers on tap and a wings/nachos eaters dream.

Fun atmosphere. Reasonable prices. Tasty American food. Definitely worth checking out. It may not be a «destination» restaurant, but we both enjoyed it thoroughly. The steak sandwich was amongst the best I’ve had.

Great place for a family night out. I loved going to eat here as a kid because of their arcade section. The place has not change much in the past 10 years which is not a bad thing! They have a good variety of food options(pizza, sandwiches, wings) Their buffalo wings are always great and their staff is always friendly.

I was expecting another hole-in-the-wall dive bar considering that was the kind my friends like to frequent. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find that this was a sports bar with a full menu of food and drinks as well as plenty of TV’s to watch the game. I was looking forward to watching the Lakers play, however when my friend and I arrived it turned out to be the Stanford football game. I suppose we should have realized that, since we’re so close to Stanford University, there was no change of any other game shown on TV at the time. We waited patiently and watched as Stanford fought on, but amazingly at the last minute, they lost a touchdown to the other team. Anyway, back to the bar itself. Lots of selection, lots of food, we ordered drinks and food. The spicy chicken wings were okay, nothing spectacular. The onion rings were better, they do the job of filling you up. I probably would have tried the pizza or a burger next time. In summary, if you’re a Stanford football fan, this is a relaxed place to watch the game without watching it in person.

This place is great if you want to stop in to catch a game on one of their many big screen TV’s. A low key atmosphere paired with a friendly staff make this a go to spot when you want to watch sports from somewhere other than your couch. I only took one star off for their pizza being a bit lacking in the sauce department. It happened once and I thought they just forgot to put enough on. After the second time, I’m thinking it’s the style… Other than that, great place with an awesome staff, ample big screens, and chill people. And hopefully, more Niner victories!

The Oasi… oh, uh… awkward. I mean The Boardwalk… is just like The Oasis, which is a staple in the Menlo Park/Palo Alto community with a lot of history that shows in the countless knife-to-table/chairs/benches/walls writing everywhere. It’s also interesting how they call The Boardwalk a «dive bar»…um…Los Altos… this is not the definition of a dive. Maybe a dive for rich yuppies. Anyway, I’ve been on a heat kick lately(blame my ex), so I ordered the Jalapeño burger. Let me just say that… you don’t get to call it anything if what you have is a tiny scoop of whatever it is that makes the theme. If I look at my burger and think, «I don’t remember ordering a plain hamburger?», then something is probably wrong with your ability to portion properly. If I wanted a plain hamburger, I would have ordered one. If you stick your finger in it and swirl whatever contents are left around your burger toward the outside, you can sort of convince yourself there was something in there, but otherwise, I’m not paying $ 9 unless they reconsider their portions.

Trying to be somewhat healthy, I ordered the low-C(without bread) double chicken breasts, only to be told that they were out. How does a sports bar run out of chicken breast? Am I the only who comes here and orders that? Oh shoot, maybe I am. So the nice lady offers me double turkey patties instead, and I say what the heck, a bird is a bird, right? Our group of seven then waits about 25 minutes for our food to come out, which is a bit long during non-busy hours. But I appreciate the fact that everybody’s food came out at the same time, all nice and hot. Now normally I don’t get excited about turkey patties, as they’re usually dry and boring. But Boardwalk knows how to make a mean turkey patty, tender and flavorful. There was some delicious turkey juice on my plate that I wish I had something other than my salad to soak up. Like maybe, some bread? Doh! But if this place manages to make semi-healthy turkey patties taste so good, imagine how good the other, more fattening stuff is. Indeed, I’ve had their buffalo wings in the past, and they’re the real deal. Boardwalk, you have my heart. Because goodness knows I’m not making my heart any healthier by eating pub grub!

I’ve been here twice. First time my son and I tried their cheeseburger. It was tasty and cooked to order. We liked it and decided to bring the whole family back. We did just that. The kids tried the pizza and loved them. My wife tried the chicken fingers and was a bit disappointed. I ordered the cheesesteak and thought they did it justice. We also shared a side of onion rings. They were beer-battered and tasty. So, thumbs up on the burgers, pizza, cheesesteak, fries, and onion rings, and«meh» on the chicken tenders. We will be back.

This place seems to be an awesome sports bar. 4 TVs positioned around the bar, I would say the middle seating area is the best. If someone is blocking you view on one of them, you can easily reposition yourself to see the other TVs. I came around 7pm on a Friday night when there was both a Warriors and Giants game. Luckily we found one of the last spots, so we didn’t have to wait. I ordered a small pizza, ½ barbeque chicken and ½ chicken garlic supreme. It came with 12 slices and is really meant to serve 2 – 3 people. I was mistaken to try to finish it by myself and I only managed to eat 8 slices. I knew I would like the barbeque chicken, but I was happily surprised by the chicken garlic supreme’s explosion of flavor. From where I was seated, I was able to watch the Giants and Warriors game at the same time. Nothing beats the bar atmosphere with good pizza and the bay area teams playing.

Love this place. We tried a couple of different types of pizza. Pepperoni(of course), garlic chicken supreme, buffalo chicken, the gilroy special and another one I think but I forgot the name… Anyway all the pizza was good which may explain why the place was super crowded on a Thursday night. The best was the buffalo chicken one I highly recommend it and I think we got that one on accident. They made one of our pizzas with half garlic chicken even though we didn’t order it but they were so nice that instead of making us wait for a whole new one they gave us the one with the garlic chicken and made a small pizza on the side with what we ordered and of course didn’t charge us for it. I would recommend ordering ahead because the people who ordered when we got there had to wait a while(probably a good 30/35min) for the pizza to be ready. It’s worth the wait though. And I heard they have $ 10 pitchers of beer… Pretty good price. And so… In conclusion I would definitely come here again.

The Boardwalk is a clean, nice-looking sports bar, filled with large customers, TVs, fried food, and stained glass. It reminds me of St. John’s in Sunnyvale, except it is much more dark and cave-like; After entering, first let your eyes adjust to the gloom, then grab yourself a menu, order food at the register, and they’ll give you a buzzer. I was here twice for lunch, so I didn’t try the beer, but the list was passable: Sierra, Widmer, Anchor Steam; plus the ubiquitous standards that haunt sports bars everywhere.(It’s the law) As for the food: – The Boardwalk Deluxe:($ 7.50) a tasty burger with Canadian bacon and Swiss cheese; it came with fries. Great price, but considering the tiny beef patty, it was also a tease. With such a large roll, this is a burger that begged for an extra patty. The fries could have been better… about 25% were too greasy and limp. 2.5 stars. Next time I’ll pay for an extra patty. – The Cheesesteak:($ 8) This time I switched out the poor fries for some excellent onion rings. As for the sandwich: one of the better cheesesteaks I’ve had in the area. A four napkin lunch. 4 stars. Did I mention large customers? You can tell the regulars by the bellies hanging over their belts. Several were present on both visits. Considering my overall average experience here, I don’t think I’m in imminent danger of becoming a regular myself(Plus, I couldn’t afford to buy the whole new wardrobe that would eventually be required). But I’ll probably be back someday.
