I go to Dairy Queen for one reason: the ice cream. Generally, I stick with a traditional soft-serve ice cream cone. The smooth, rich, creamy flavor is unmatched by any other soft serve out there. Every once in a while I have a banana split or a peanut buster parfait, but as my tolerance for large quantities of dairy products has waned, I don’t get these very often. My only complaint about DQ in general is that they don’t really have sizes that are appropriate for young children(think 3 – 6 years old). Even their smallest shakes and cones are oversized, but just try to wrest it away from a kid when you think she’s had enough. This particular location is kind of buried in the corner of the San Antonio shopping center in Mountain View, and doesn’t get a lot of traffic. As a consequence, there’s never much of a wait. Personally, I haven’t had any problems with the service there. As mentioned by others, the non-ice cream offerings here are limited. They don’t have a grill, so it’s generally limited to things that go into a deep fryer.

I haven’t had Dairy Queen for like almost a decade! I used to live 8 blocks from one and would walk there almost everyday for some Oreo Blizzard or Chocolate Dipped Cone. Hence I got hella fat. Unlike some places where they serve frothy, watery soft-serve, DQ’s soft-serve is consistently firm and creamy. It’s no premium, hand-churned ice cream but delicious and a great value nonetheless.

My mother and I LOVE Dairy Queen. Once in a while we will get a really big craving for a dipped cone and come running over here. This happened today after we went to the Oakland A’s game. My only problem with this location is I don’t know how sanitary it is. Today we saw one of the girls drop a cup on the ground and re-use it. Gross.

After our Hawaiian dinner, we landed next door to Dairy Queen for our treat. I guessed you know why we doggy-bagged our leftover dinner. I had the standard and popular Dairy Queen Sundae. The $ 3.508 oz. hefty sundae comes in your choice of topping(I got Chocolate), clouds of whipped cream and chopped nuts, but I’m not a nut eater. Wife had the Mint Oreo Blizzard, which is the featured flavor for the month of March. The $ 3.00 featured treat was in a good size cup and noticeably very lumpy and chunky with bits of Oreos in it. The kids each had another one of the restaurant’s popular treat: the Dipped Cone. The $ 3.00 treat was a soft-serve in a cone and comes with a choice of topping. Being located on the quiet end of the shopping center, the sunrise going down and with no indoor seating, we enjoyed our frozen treat outside and enjoyed the view of the quiet residential area, while blasting our I-Pod in my van. And if that wasn’t enough, we also bought a box of the Dairy Queen’s Sandwiches. For $ 6.00, you get four sandwiches in the box. Hey, it’s just like spending the same amount of money at what you get at a participating supermarket, but except it’s from Dairy Queen. Wife used her Visa to pay for all of our treats. I’ve read many mixed reviews about Dairy Queen from various cities including this location, but who gives a shit. Since it’s a corporate chain, I thought our time and treat @ DQ was great with friendly workers.
