My daughter and I were making a last minute trip to Longview to see a show at the nearby college. I chose this Baymknt based off my previous experience with Baymont hotels. And my father used to manage a Baymont, so I am familiar with the chain. The website photos are misleading, as this is more of a motel than a hotel. The entrances to rooms are from the outside. First red flag. The outside of the property was not well maintained. I walked into the lobby and it was smaller than most Baymonts and quite dated in my opinion, the TV was loud. The employee was quite friendly, despite his inability to effectively communicate with me. It took him almost 30 minutes to check me in. Nobody else was there. Second red flag. I had requested a non smoking room. Once I got to my room, the moment I walked in it was bowled over by smoke. I went back to the checkin desk and requested a non smoking room… again. I needed to be somewhere… but wanted to get it changed before I went to my event so that I wouldn’t have to do it late at night. It took him another 20 minutes to switch my room. Third red flag. I got the new key… got back in the car to head to the event. About ten minutes later, they called me to ask what room I was in. Weird. Once we got back to the new room. It too reeked of smoke. Had I not prepayed for the room I would have left. But it was for just one night. But I’ll smell he smoke until I get home and shower and wash my clothes. There is marker drawings on the side of the dresser. The bed doesn’t even have s bed skirt. But just bare box spring there is rust all over the door where the hinges are. The paint is chipped. The shower is moldy and nasty. Something that is definelty fixable. This is by far the worst«hotel» I have ever been in, and definelty the worst Baymont. Seems the owner isn’t too comceremd about providing a decent place to stay. Sad really. Also need to hire someone who knows how to check people in and make change. This person did not. Won’t be back and won’t recommend.

I have stayed here every time I come to Longview. I have handicap room and the stays were fine. This time they stuck me in the back where guys sat in the parking lot blasting rap music while«ladies“entertained all night long. There was no shower chair. There was a coffee pot but no coffee cups. I will not be back. The room was clean and beds were comfy but the ambiance is very low rent. I was shocked and as a single woman terrified. If you are a trucker and looking to get your groove on this looks like your place. If you are a family or any other normal person stay away. Far far away. At least until they raid the place. Makes me sad because like I said it was my go to place. Guess I will look around for next time.

I have mixed feelings about this place? The photos from the website are slightly misleading in the sense of appearance from both it’s interior and exterior. I was going to be in Longview, Texas for nine days and I just wanted to be as comfortable as possible. As I checked walked up to entrance of Baymont Inn, I noticed the door was dingy and dirty, brass handles looked like they haven’t been shined in ages. and the door just creaked like a haunted house! I approached the reception desk clerk and she was sitting there on her phone texting. Okay, maybe it was because it was late in the afternoon and she completed all her task for day? But When a guest patron walks into your establishment, it’s time to put the phone down, stand on your feet and present yourself as a representative of the company you work for. I asked if there was code for the Wi-Fi access, she say no, then proceeds to warn me that Wi-Fi doesn’t work well on the second floor where I would be roomed… Ugh! Okay, after getting all checked in, I proceeded to my room which was on the second floor. I wasn’t expecting a whole lot… after all, I wasn’t staying at the Paris in Las Vegas? However, I did expect certain qualities to be present. As I walked up the stairwell, I couldn’t help notice that the concrete stairs were chipped and broken. The paint on the railing was chipped, peeling and rusted. As I made it to the top of the balcony, I couldn’t help notice that the balcony was uneven and leaning towards to parking lot… I felt like I had vertigo or that I was inside the Winchester Mystery House? Well, I actually was feeling pretty uneasy about even entering the room, but once I did, I was relieved that the room was relatively neat and clean enough for at least one night of sleep. The bathroom area was decent, except for the chipped paint and caulking around the bath tub, and there was mold at the bottom of the shower curtain… FYI Baymont Inn, it’s just not appealing to a guest to find these easily fixable things from a care and maintenance stand point! I was debating to change hotel locations or just suck it up and deal with it? I’ve visited Longview many times before there aren’t many upscale hotels in the area, mainly Inns and suites. I have stayed at the Holiday Inn Express when it was still near by. My last stay in 2011 was at the Hampton Inn which was a block over from Baymont Inn. Unfortunately, I was not here for purposes of pleasure and I was on a save a buck mode! My father passed away and my siblings needed to bury our father, and carry out his final wishes, to include selling his home and it’s contents. I was too tired from my flight from the bay area to deal with it, so I sucked it up for the remainder of my stay! I think the thing the blew me away most was apparently, this place allows people who are homeless, or down on their luck to stay at their Inn either for a discounted rate or free? Because every single morning, during the Inns continental breakfast period, there was this one guy that looked like he had been hit with ten miles of a Texas red dirt road would stroll in and make himself breakfast, grab coffee and ask guest for cigarettes? After the fourth day seeing this guy, I just decided to have a real breakfast at a near by Waffle House or Ihop restaurant. I don’t mean to sound like a snob, because I am not… but unfortunately it wasn’t a very pleasant experience. I guess I need to keep in perspective that I was staying at a budget type hotel/Inn and you get what you pay for! Will I ever return to Longview, not likely… but if for reasons that I may have to return, I more than likely will be making another choice for my hotel accommodations.

To stay true to my 2013 resolution to be thriftier(gasp) I took a chance and booked a room here. The price was right(under $ 60 on a popular internet hotel site) and the location was perfect(in one of the last nooks of civilization between Shreveport and Dallas). I have blown through my fair share of Marriott points from my exciting days as a video producer, so believe me when I say I was in full-on crisis mode when I realized it was an «exterior hallway» kind of place. I am happy to report that I was pleasantly surprised! I would not stay here if traveling alone, but it was a good bargain when traveling with the family. They provide a limited breakfast(make your own waffles, cereal, fruit, bagels, toast). I can’t report on the quality of the food because we didn’t have time to eat. One thing to note, the dining room is tiny, so expect a line at the waffle machine. Pros — Comfortable Bed — Washable Duvet Covers(no nasty polyester bedspreads with tropical flowers here) — Friendly Staff –Clean Room(not pristine, but acceptably clean) –Inexpensive — Free Wi-Fi(that is easy to access) Cons — Weird location on an access road. Our GPS took us to the wrong place — Extra plump pillows – the kind that prop your head up to a 90 degree angle — Exterior hallways — Not the best exterior lighting The Baymont Inn and Suites was a perfectly acceptable place to crash for the night. And for you pet lovers, they also offer pet-friendly rooms.
