The place is ok, but the girl tending bar during the football games on Sunday afternoon really needs an attitude Adjustment. Was with 4 friends At the bar and felt like she was inconvenienced when serving us a drink! Actually pretty bitchy.
Certainly won’t be back there!

Came with a couple friends for dinner.
While the waitress was very friendly, I didn’t get exactly what I ordered.
I ordered a turkey burger with cheese. She went over the whole list of available cheeses with me and i picked one.
I ended up with a regular beef burger which was highly overcooked and no cheese.
My friends food all looked good so i wouldn’t rule out the place entirely but would order something else next time.

Don’t get the food here. The cook has THE WORST SENSE OF FOOD SAFETY ON THE PLANET!!! Cross contaminated EVERYTHING as we sat eating our dinner for a little over an hour with the kitchen in full view. Touched cooked food with tongs that had touched raw food, never washed his hands, took raw food out of the drawers to put on the grill, then took cooked food with the tongs and plated it. Cross contaminated the bbq sauce brush, bucket of potato chips, bread sticks, absolutely everything! Thankfully the other guy wore gloves! This was, by far, one of THE WORST dinner experiences of my life! I am NEVER coming back here ever again! It’s a good thing the cook doesn’t make the drinks too!

Needed to update my review… management has improved since my last review and I now frequent this place with my wife and kids. Food is good (love the specials!) and the service, while still hit or miss sometimes, meets expectations. The burgers are great, and comparable to the Barnacle Bills burger which everyone raves about (theirs is just as good, I think). Get the cheddar sauce and become a man.

It was alright. Nothing spectacular. I ordered the Philly steak and cheese sub with waffle fries and coleshaw and my partner had the vegetable dish.
His vegetables were well cooked, also the dip sauce was not great.
My sandwich was not really good. The bread taste nothing like a baguette (although it looked like one, and as I am a French woman…) and the meat was very dry. The cheese was alright but it was not tasty.
I ended up leaving aside the bread and cheese and eating the steak.
We ordered their homemade key lime pie and it was VERY good. Our dinner’s highlight, pretty much.
The atmosphere was pretty nice though. I enjoyed the bar and the open kitchen, it seems like a new trend.

I will try to keep this review to the point. One of the best ‘basic’ bar-​food and restaurant value in the coastal Monmouth area. Sure bets: #1 best tasting cheddar burger (homemade, thick cheddar sauce= cheddar cheese sort of blended in with whipped cream cheese, I think) get sauce on the side and dip your ridged potato chips in it– a heavenly heart attack! Clam chowder– awesome. Homemade marinara sauce on the crab meltaways– MMM. Quesadilla with chicken or duck– great. On and on… nice staff, good service, and really fair prices. Nothing here to dislike. Not for a formal date, won’t win any foodie awards, but definitely perfect for a comfortable, quality meal. The half price after 10PM deal on bar food abd burgers is really awesome, too.

You know what your getting from «The Duck» everytime, probably been there 100s of times maybe closer to 1000s in my 39 years on this earth, and you know what your getting… everytime.
They got the popcorn, which more places should have, the specials are some of the best most creative things of any modern restaurant.
And your not breaking the bank. Relativley affordable. One of the my favorite layouts of any restaurant with the square bar, where you can watch the cooks at work.
Phenomenal. Another restaurant with great, people who know your name and care. Genuinely care about your experience there, which is so rare now a days.
Sitting Duck over Pour House and Main St every day… although RIP Grist Mill (wasn’t quite as good as the Duck, but was damn close.

I was there today for happy hour today, celebrating my birthday and my brother, sister in law anniversary… we frequently do the happy hour. I ordered the salmon with rice pilaf. It tasted burnt! I was very disappointed. I’m not one to complain, but I should have. I’ve had many quality meals here but this one was extremely disappointing. I’m regretting not saying something when I was there.

My favorite dinner spot around! I always order off the specials and never go wrong! They change their specials often so it’s like going to a different restaurant everytime. My 7 year old daughter enjoys the food as well.

Had a great meal tonight. Love the Oktoberfest menu and beer. I had the German sausage sampler dinner, which was very good. Sauerkraut was just like my Mom’s. Service was great and prompt but not rushed. Will be visiting again

I’ve never had a bad meal here. It’s not all that fancy, but they do have daily specials that are quite interesting. The servers are prompt and attentive. They’re good with substitutions and the service is quick.
I’m not going to shower this place with faint praises, but if you eat here, you’ll be satisfied, full and won’t regret your choice.

As my wife would say if I asked her about the Sitting Duck, «Love the Duck.» I think I went here for every birthday I had from age 10 until I moved to NY at 22. Steaks are great. Clam strips were one of my all time favorites. The french fries are spectacular. Haven’t been there since I stopped eating meat over a year ago, but I’m sure if I’m back in the area this is the first place we’ll think of.

Always good food. Old Irish pub style setting with TVs at the bar. Sliced prime rib sandwich is off the chain. Burgers, salads always good. Stop by for lunch on the way to the race track or beach.

Locals joint that was on the way to a family visit. Good service and food was good. Not fancy but good for grabbing a bite. A little off the beaten path so we were almost about to turn around (thinking we didn’t see it) before we found it. Would go again although probably not my first choice in the area.

I go there a few times a year, more frequently during the summer when I stop by after catching the races at Monmouth. It’s usually pretty busy but I rarely go on something other than a Saturday night. Even with that I have never had to wait more than 10 minutes for a table.
I’d give all the bar and wait staff thumbs up. I’ve never had any kind of issue at all.
As far as the food goes, I honestly don’t think I’ve ever ordered anything off the main menu. They always have an extensive list of specials and something from there always catches my eye. I usually get something seafood related, which is always very good. This past October they had great Oktoberfest offerings as well. I had to go back a few times to try everything out.
The food is not cheap but it’s not too expensive. You get what you pay for and the food is very good.
I would recommend The Sitting Duck very highly. It’s a great relaxed place for a very good drink or meal.

Whenever I’m back on the Jersey side, usually in the summer, I end up here because its one of my friend’s favorite places in the area. We’ve been here several times and I have never, ever had a bad experience. There were times when it was crowded and had to wait for a table, so we just bellied up to the bar and had a drink.
To be honest, I cannot remember all the meals that I had there other than salads and big-​ass burgers, but I have only good memories about what I ate, what I drank, the price and the staff. They have tv’s too, so if there is a game on, all the better.
