No!!! I can’t believe The Peppercorner is actually closed!!! My husband and I came here every Sunday morning. I was in LOVE with their soup of the day on Sundays. It was Green Chicken Pozole and boy was it the best green chicken pozole I’ve ever had. I’m really going to miss this place.

My first update mysteriously disappeared. I live nearby and have been many times. Coming back here most recently I had hoped to have a good experience. You guys need to work on your customer service– reading customer reviews that are«not recommended» I see I’m not the only one who has noticed how recently the employees have become rude and condescending to the patrons of the restaurant. This is not okay. Food is not good. Eggs were dry, avocado was brown, and everything else was inordinately greasy. Boo. I’m done with this place.

3.5 stars! This place definitely reminds me of those old fashion American diners that used to exist back in the day. Came here with my boyfriend and 2 doggies after corgi beach day. They have an outdoor patio perfect for your dogs, they will even give your doggie a bowl of water so they don’t go thirsty. Parking on the street was pretty easy for us because we came on a Sunday afternoon and there wasn’t many people here. Workers here are really nice and friendly, although they don’t have many people working, but it was okay because there wasn’t that many customers. As for food, this place is very average. I really wanted to like it, but it was honestly nothing special… Tuna melt: my boyfriend got this dish and he said it was really good. It was packed with tuna and the taste was delicious. He got it with home fries which are the thick kinds and we’re both not a fan of them. Only because we love thin fries! Eggs Benedict: it comes with salmon but I’m a vegetarian so I asked if they could give me another substitute but they said no :(so I just had eggs Benedict on an English muffin. French toast: this was pretty good especially with a lot of butter and syrup. It also tasted good when I took it togo and ate it the next day. Cream of chicken soup: my boyfriend said that this dish was good. Comes in a really small bowl, so it’s good as an appetizer.

Found this place as a happy accident. I had the Eggs Benedict with hash browns. The portion was good sized and the hollandaise sauce was well done. AND can’t beat the $ 1.99 Mimosas. The rest of the party had Tomato Bisque, a chorizo omelette, and an omelette with Swiss, onions, and spinach. All had rave reviews.

I’ve eaten at the various mediocre diners that have occupied this location over the last decade or so. It’s changed hands several times with different names. The best version, IMO is when it was the Bitter Chef. At least then, they had some good items on the menu, like a very good Italian meatloaf and pot roast, along with fresh in-house-made bread. However, that didn’t last long, and it soon changed hands again to become the Peppercorner. We’ve tried it a few times, and it was OK at first, but the quality kept going down. On our last visit a couple of weeks ago, the meal was a notch below blah. And then I read about the health code violations, which evidently occurred before our recent visit. Ugh. I wish I read that earlier, before I decided to try it again. It should have been a warning sign that the place was completely empty. On a positive note, service is OK, but honestly, in this case it’s a moot point. Hopefully, this will change hands yet another time and they finally put a decent restaurant on this corner. Until then, I’m not returning, unless there’s an apocalypse that destroys any other food source within walking distance and the roads are all blocked by either the military, groups of violent looters or crashed and abandoned cars.

The food here is pretty mediocre. Standard diner food but lacking in flavors and freshness. I’ve eaten here 3 times and the only thing that I would have gone back for is the turkey burger, if I had to. I would normally give a place like this 3 stars however, the most recent time I went here they served my friend a RAW steak… not rare or medium rare. It was raw and they admitted they messed up. However, they were so cheap they still charged my friend for everything else he ate. What kind of restaurant admits they messed up and then charges you for the rest of the plate?(They subtracted like $ 5 from the check) I just think this is poor customer service and goes to show its not worth coming back after this time.

We’ve been a few times. The service is friendly and the food is good. I’m not expecting fine dining when I go. I expect friendly and good and I get it every time. It is more casual than some other low-key cafes but I have never been neglected or treated rudely. If you just want casual and you don’t expect a waiter at your table every 5 minutes than this is the perfect place.

Love this place! The burgers are delicious and the service is awesome. The regular waitress with the locks is a sweetie. She rocks. Definitely an East Village cornerstone. Worth trying.

Street parking in this part of Long Beach is a major undertaking. BUT: my breakfast burrito was well worth the two-block-walk to this amazing nook. The staff is friendly, quick and courteous. Be sure to check out their salt and pepper shakers– they’re each artfully hand decorated. FUN! My companions had french toast, pancakes, and the oddball cheeseburger. He raved about that cheeseburger and he’s the most finicky person I know. The others raved about their breakfast too!

My breakfast burrito called to mind a small baby, that’s how heartily it was packed. Pretty happy. I’m a first timer, and combed Unilocal for the most promising nearby breakfast burrito and was not disappointed. Had to walk a total of maybe 8 or 9 city blocks on my break to make it happen, but worth it. This has become both breakfast and lunch for me today. I got bacon in it, it came in a cute little bag to keep it warm, with a good sized container of yummy salsa on the side that makes all the difference. Guy on the phone was nice. A little heavier-handed on the potatoes than I would prefer, but overall no complaints. Basically, I found my new DTLB breakfast burrito.

Holy yum! I was visiting some friends in Long Beach, and when they went to work in the AM, we were left with a glowing recommendation for this place. We had to walk by Roscoes Chicken and Waffles to get here, but man it was worth it! The place is adorable. It’s on the corner about 5 blocks from the beach with a nice little outside-seating area. Unfortunately, it was one of the 3 rainy days in LA, so we grabbed a cozy booth inside the funky little diner-esqe restaurant. I ordered an omelette with cheddar, avocado and mushrooms, and hash browns, and an english muffin. It was huge! I ended up pulling cheese and vegetables out of eggs to retain stomach space. everything was cooked to perfection and was so so tasty! The mushrooms were cooked in the eggs and the avocado was folded in. I was wondering how that was going to work. The hash browns were crispy and tasty, and i took advantage of the adorbs pepper grinders on the table to kick it up a notch even further. I never even got to my English muffin as i got really full, but I trust that it was also delish. All in all, this place was cute, priced really reasonably, convenient, and so so delicious; the perfect 4 pillars to a strong breakfast foundation. Next time I’m in Cali, I’ll be back!

I recently had brunch at the Peppercorner and loved every last bite. I went with friends who live in the area and recommended as a good spot for brunch. Peppercorner had me first at their large $ 1.99 mimosas. Then they really got me with their large, delicious breakfast portions. Aside from the mimosa, I went with a mark your own omelette utilizing chorizo, goat cheese and avocado. It came with my choices of toast and potato. The hash browns were where it’s at. The place is charming and comfortable. Our server was friendly and accommodating. Peppercorner is a great spot for an inexpensive, filling and solid brunch.

HOCKEYBURGER. order it. ate all of it. I conquered it. If you are hungry and need something to fill you up before you do something big, order this burger. Beef, Pastrami, and a Hot Dog are in this beast. Order it with Onion Rings. I would ask them to toast the buns the next time I order the Hockey Burger so the bread doesn’t get«soggy» so fast. Got a group of patrons from another table glancing at the burger while my gf was taking pictures of it. They ask me what it was that I ordered and one of the male patrons was going to order the same thing too with onion rings. Got someone to imitate what I ordered… awesomeness!!! Delicious. Nuff Said.

I moved into the East Village a few months and have been passing by The Peppercorner on a regular basis. I absolutely love the name(it’s on a corner!!) and was so happy when my fiancé suggested we go out for brunch last Saturday. I try to cook as much as I can but it’s always nice to have someone else prepare the food! I’d say this place classifies as a diner. The décor is super funky and the staff were extremely pleasant. True to it’s fabulous name, The Peppercorner has lots of fun pepper grinders throughout as artwork, and even functional ones at each table. I ordered the Chorizo Breakfast — it came with warm tortillas, avocado and hashbrowns, yum! My fiancé ordered French Toast with bacon and hashbrowns, too. You have a choice of potatoes when ordering. The menu is pretty simple but the food is really good — they don’t get fancy but serve a good quality meal. I have only been for breakfast/brunch and I think I will keep it as a close brunch option, rather than dinner. They have an outside patio too if you want to enjoy the breeze!

What a disappointment here. I won’t be back for sure. Came here on a Monday morning and it wasn’t busy at all. I sat with my cousin and it literally took them 30 mins to bring out our food(we were a party of 3). The omelet was nothing special… The only thing that annoyed me was the cheese. They put two random slices of Kraft cheese on top of the omelet. …gross. whatever happened to shredded cheese? My cousin however dis like his steak and eggs. I ordered a side of oatmeal after I was done with the omelet because it wasn’t fulfilling at all. I clocked the waitress and it took her 8 minutes to bring me a small bowl of oatmeal… just plain oatmeal. And I even had to walk to the counter to order because she rarely made her rounds to our table. The food was a let down and the service was worse. I have the philosophy that when you’re in good company, the food can taste like cardboard and you can still enjoy a great time!

We came here for breakfast and our experience were mixed. I’ve ordered their Country Fried Steak it was good, light crisp and tasty. The gravy that topped was on the milky side(that can pass), the fried steak was thin, it’s not as meaty but it seems as if their entrees are kept neat and not greasy spoon type portions anyway. The sides that came on the plate were basic. I chose sunny side up eggs and it comes with hash browns, the onions and red peppers add-ons were okay. The service we got was very slow, we’ve waited about 30 minutes for our order. I don’t understand why our server had to work alone serving the entire restaurant and work hostess/cashier and helped to clean tables? Dang, that sucked multi-tasking to the max! Also she forgot to give me my water the first time, I was hoping she apologized for us waiting but she seemed friendly and I was glad she gave us the coffee refills. This joint is nice, inside is clean and has a newer diner feel to it. Even better, there is a outdoor patio to enjoy sunny LBC breakfast in the morning. I would come back here to tryout that Hockey Burger for lunch time, I’m crossing my fingers then for faster service next time.

YUMMMM!!! Another great breakfast find within walking distance of our hotel in downtown Long Beach, CA. The Peppercorner is located near Broadway and Atlantic, and they offer traditional inside seating or outside on the patio with your pooch(or your significant other). My business partner and I wandered over for breakfast as I was in the mood for pancakes and I’d heard great things about their ‘cakes. I settled in to a nice stack of buttermilk deliciousness with a scoop of butter and some WARM maple syrup. My business partner was feeling a bit hungry, and he made the mistake of ordering(and trying to eat) the Longshoreman’s Breakfast which was a stack of pancakes, enough bacon to choke a hog, a mass of hash browns, two eggs, along with freshly-baked biscuits and sawmill gravy. While waiting for him to work his way through to the«Clean Plate Club Award» I had a chance to look at the menu and see all of the amazing burgers, salads, and sandwiches that they offer for later in the day. The house favorite is called the Hockeye Burger which is a whopping beef burger patty topped with a mound of hot pastrami and a grilled, sliced hot dog.(Sounds like the cure for a wicked hangover, but I’m told that it’s a very popular selection.) I was quite pleased with my breakfast selection, and Bill seemed much better after a few belches on our way back to the hotel. Clearly the Longshoreman’s Breakfast was a lot of food to inhale in one sitting. Since this restaurant is in walking distance of our hotel I’m sure we’ll be back to try some of their burgers and sandwiches next time.
