I was at The Westin for an event. I decided to go to the restaurant bar with my Fiancé and get something to eat since it was inside the hotel. No one immediately present at the bar. When the Bar tender came out from the back she did not say one word to us and was expressionless. We asked for a menu and she did not say a single word, walked away from us over to a table and picked up some plates and walked back. She eventually grabbed us a menu from right behind where she was originally standing. She left the menu in front of us and walked away, still no words. We decided that we would take our business elsewhere. I was casually dressed and wondered if I would have gotten the same service if I would have been wearing an expensive suite.

We have been going and dining at the grill for over 7 years now. The Sunday brunch is absolutely the best! Though, it’s not as big as any Las Vegas buffet, it’s reasonable for $ 25 to satisfy your hunger. They have the friendliest and most efficient staff! Our favorites are Jay and Kenneth for brunch/breakfast and bartender Hermie for dinner at the bar. Pros– nice presentation and delicious meals, free parking with validation for 2 hours, nice ambience with privacy. Cons– sometimes, it gets busy and crowded every weekend mornings especially during Grand Prix and other holidays. Their salmon dish Is farm raised and not wildly caught! At least, they have honest servers!

The restaurant here is C– at best. Even though there were at least 300 meeting-goers present, and the restaurant was packed, there was only one bored non-committal desultory waiter. I ordered shrimp and mussels, it showed up stone cold. Even if it had been hot and fresh, for 26 bucks 3 medium sized shrimp, a pile of tiny shriveled mussels with broken shells, and a small cup of steamed rice is no bargain. I sent it back, and waited for 20 minutes(it still isn’t here) for a replacement French dip sandwich. My wife had a turkey sandwich, ok but no better than ok, and fries they would be ashamed to serve at McDonalds. Her napkin was dirty with two hairs in it. Avoid the place.

Such a fancy setting that makes any meal make you feel pampered. Located right by the beach, this place feels like a mini get away and a breath of fresh air. The food is refreshing and the staff is so kind. They knew one of the members of my party by name, and even knew her order before she walked through the door. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals, and my chicken was cooked to perfection. The staff is also highly at tentative without any effort needed from you to get their attention. That’s right, no need to chomp down on ice in an attempt to find the waiter to refill your water. I would definitely recommend this place, and be sure to ask what the specials of the day are. They also validate parking in the hotel lot!

Breakfast is pricey but convenient. There is a breakfast buffet for $ 22. Food is ok but service is great. I heard there is a great omelette place on Broadway.

A Chopped salad for lunch. Typical hotel food and a bit pricey. Good size portion but not worth $ 16.00. Service was good and pretty quick.

Great service. Nice relaxed atmosphere. Food is pricey but what you’d expect at an upscale restaurant.

I came down to the grill at the Westin Hotel on Ocean Boulevard in Long Beach and I had lunch before heading in the Long Beach Grand Prix. I ordered the chicken linguine which has tomatoes, garlic, shallots, artichoke hearts, bacon, white wine, butter and basil. It was a little spendy but that’s what happens when you eat in a nice hotel The food was super good and that’s really all that matters.

I came here for a business lunch recently. Which is why, to my food-obsessed nerdy chagrin, I couldn’t find the right moment to take a discrete photo of my food! So I guess you’re stuck reading about what I ate instead. I ordered the beef skewers with chimichurri sauce off the starter list, with a side of garlic parmesan fries. It came with 3 skewers of beef that was well-seasoned(some might find it a tad on the salty side but I like salt) and really tender. I suspect they used filet mignon. The chimichurri sauce was the perfect pairing, adding the right amount of acidic and brightness to the meat. If you haven’t noticed by now, I love beef and chimichirri sauce! My meal also came with some shoe string onion rings, but I loved the parmesan fries more especially when dipped in the residual chimichurri sauce! I think this restaurant is an ideal business lunch spot. It’s in the atrium area so there’s a lot of natural lighting. There is ample parking in the garage and they offer validation. But, I can’t say that I would come back for a romantic dinner with my hubs. The hotel itself is a little out dated and even though it’s located on Ocean Boulevard, you’re not going to get a view of the ocean, or any view for that matter. But I would come back for lunch, if only for those beef skewers again!

Whenever I’m visiting Long Beach, CA my client has us stay at the Westin Long Beach hotel, which is a very lovely — über-swanky hotel right opposite the Long Beach Performing Arts Center in downtown Long Beach, CA. On a recent trip, we had a flight delay, followed by a long wait for our shuttle van from LAX, so by the time we got to the hotel it was well-after 12 Midnight East Coast time. Nonetheless we were hungry, and needed something to eat, and so we wandered down to the main lobby to eat at The Grill. This is a very typical high-end hotel eatery where you’re paying for convenience, location, and frankly it’s one of the few places to eat in the immediate area. The Grill has an open seating area that overlooks the main lobby, and also a nice bar with high-top tables, and TVs tuned to various sporting events. The bar area is generally filled with business travelers and flight crews, although the restaurant is seldom more than half full. The food is good — nothing spectacular, but be prepared for hefty prices. I ordered a bowl of their chicken tortilla soup, a Greek salad, and drank water. My bill was $ 31. My business partner had a burger and a beer, and his bill was $ 20. That seems excessive to me, which is why we seldom eat at The Grill when we’re in town.

(+) — thai seafood curry($ 22) (-) — take away service Had a long day at work and was hungry and grumpy when I got back to the hotel. Decided to get some takeout from the grill instead of ordering room service. What a terrible decision because waiting 30+ minutes for my food on a starving stomach was not cool. After deciding on what I wanted, trying to catch the eye of a waiter was so difficult. Maybe because they knew I was getting takeout? It was annoying. I had to walk up and approach them to get their attention, then the waitress said it would be 15 minutes and I could wait at the couches nearby in the lobby. So I waited for 30 long minutes and finally went back up to ask someone if my food was ready yet. The waitress that helped me wasn’t there anymore and some other guy went in the back to ask about my order. After 5 minutes he came back out with my food, pretty sure it had been ready for a while but if I hadn’t checked up on it I may never have gotten my food! I don’t remember the specific name of my entrée but it was something along the lines of thai seafood curry. Actual food was decent, fat juicy shrimp and delicious clams, the thai curry sauce was tasty although it was more watery than I’d like. Some parts of the rice were not fully cooked. Maybe the dine in experience is better but takeout service was terrible. Decided to stick with room service after that.

A typical high end hotel restaurant. Part of the price is in the atmosphere, and this restaurant is casually upscale — nice enough to wear a suit and have a business meal, and casual enough to come in jeans and t-shirt after a day of sightseeing or a harbor cruise in Long Beach. The prices are a bit high, but considering where it is located inside of, it is to be expected. The food itself is good, not great. If you are a fan of ultra thin crust pizza, this is one of the few places that makes it that way. It’s not out of this world, but if you are a fan of thin crust pizza, it’s good enough to satisfy when you are craving it. I do like the chitpole shrimp salad a lot, though I ususally end up ordering the pizza more often — that’s because I’m in the mood to eat pizza much more often than a salad. This salad is refreshing, the shrimp is tender and juicy and the chitploe gives it a nice tang. Overall, it’s a nice place with decent food, nice atmposhere. However, it works best if your primary reason is something other than food — like a business meeting, convenience after a long day, or wanting to enjoy a nice dining atmosphere.

Food was typical hotel fare. Good and filling but not great. Our waitress at lunch was nice but kept reminding us she was about to get off work(we had a late lunch). The bartenders in the evening were friendly and responsive. Overall, I would return.

I arrived around 7pm on a Friday night and was seated right away. I did not receive service right away but I was dining solo so it wasn’t pertinent. I ordered the fried calamari with sweet chili sauce and aioli and the margarita pizza. The app came out quickly, unfortunately it was overcooked. I didn’t complain because I was hungry and don’t expect much from hotel restaurants. The pizza was a bit bland; they used opal basil instead of regular which looked pretty. My server was polite but did not really pay too much attention to me, he checked on me once. I didn’t want to be entertained but I would have liked a refill. Nothing special about this place.

I arrived around 10 pm after flying across the country and was craving real food. After six hours in the air I was done with peanuts and aerial pretzels. I sat down at the bar and ordered a water and the turkey sandwich with fries. The sandwich was good, but tasted more like ham than turkey. Pretty salty. I think they accidentally put ham on there but I was too tired to care or make an issue of it. The portion of ham was very generous so no complaining, here. Service was curt but professional. I noticed the place was pretty dead and I was just about the only one in there. But it was a Monday night and President’s Day at that. So maybe it picks up more on other days or over the weekend. But on this day you could hear your voice echo. As hotel grills go this one isn’t bad. But there are a lot of other options nearby so I’d recommend dining here only if you don’t feel like going out or are beat from your trip. If you are tired, have a seat and rest assured you’ll be taken care of and receive a decent meal at a fair price.

What has happened to this place? We live nearby an for several years came for dinner and drinks at the bar. We so used to enjoy feeling like it was an extension of our home. Thank goodness Hermie and Raul are still there! If not for them we would never come there… we finally realized why it has deteriorated so much. The reason is a new food and beverage head named Drew. The food quality has deteriorated immensely, and the overall atmosphere is cold, To put in candidly, he is rude, disrespectful and simply arrogant. We realized that when we say him while on duty at the District Wine one evening where he came in wearing his Westin ID and tried to get free wine… his arrogance and demeanor were self evident. To the Westin management… it is a shame you don’t recognize what is going on. I hope you read this.

After 4 days and 2 meals a day eaten in the Grill, the only complaint have is the menu. The food is great but the menu never changes. i understand that most travelers visit for a day or two but when you are in the hotel for a 5 day period the food becomes boring. As for the service, this was mixed too. There are some members of the staff who were great and others that walked past me and ignored me. Over all i enjoyed the food.

The people that work here are nice, but the cook is incompetent. Like just doesn’t give a damn. I stayed here several nights and, regardless of what I ordered, it was cooked until it was dry and hard. Ordered a steak medium and it was VERY well done. Hard to cut well done. This happened both times I was dumb enough to order a steak.(Well, in my defense, I was sick, so eating in the hotel seemed like a better option than going out despite the cook’s ineptitude and, as noted by another reviewer, the menu is extremely limited.) Vegetable medley had some cooked veggies, some completely raw — totally haphazard. Salads were not just overdressed, but swimming in goo. Bread was stale — very stale. Desserts weren’t bad, but I’d guess they don’t make them on premises. There are SO many good restaurants around here that its an atrocity to eat here and forgo the other options. Even if I’m sick, I’m never eating here again.
