A true humanitarian. Worker Comp Issue Spine. I was living in a world of pain and the previous Dr. Mahony misdiagnosed me and sent me home with orders to start a running régime. Really? Dr Spencer immediately saw the problem with my disks and tried EVERYTHING before surgery. Post op I have to say that he and his staff saved my life. No complications whatsoever. His staff and colleagues are a reflection of his professionalism. I have had several surgeries in the past and I cannot imagine going through this procedure without him and his team. Many thanks to them. 5 star group! John Zunich, Long Beach, CA

Horrible staff, rude and not friendly. They double and triple book you, and lack communication skills.

I’ve been seeing Dr. Spencer for my workers comp related issue for some time now. He himself diagnosed me with DDD, and is aware of multiple area’s of my body affected by arthritis, yet he still had me return to a job with no limitations that cause the degeneration in my disk to begin with, which also agrivates my arthritis. I had an appointment with him yesterday to try and refill my anti inflamitory medications. When he entered the room and saw me stretching, he assumed I started my Physical Therapy sessions, which was not the case. When I told him that no one from PT or his office initiated the PT process, he had the Nurse go and write the refferal and immediately left. Needless to say he never returned and the issue with the ongoing pain was not addressed. Im sure he’s a very fine surgeon, but when you have an issue that doesn’t need surgery just yet, it seems as if he’s less interested. Moreover the notes he writes is ALWAY’S insufficient to the needs of The Department of Labor, which has resulted in the DOL’s refusal to pay workers comp benefits on various occasions. I gave the Dr. a letter from my Legal Advisor so he could challenge The DOL’s initial diagnosis of a «back sprain», and get my case upgraded. I have yet to receive anything from the Dr, and my Attorney can’t do anything till then. If you have a workmans comp issue, but dont need surgery, find someone else. Otherwise you’ll wind up in a position where you’ll need surgery. UPDATE: I had to make an urgent appointment with this Dr to address serious and ongoing pain. I again inquired about a light duty order, as continuing lifting and pushing heavy patients is making my degenerated disk and spinal stenosis even worse. This time the Dr. exclaimed that he would rather not as it could lead to me being fired from my job, even though it is obvious to anyone that their are disability Laws that prevent this. Clearly, this is a Dr who is not at all concerned with the well being of his patients.

Stay away from this Doctor!!! First of all, his staff will force you to sign an Arbitration Agreement, or they will refuse to treat you. That way, if doctor Spencer paralyzes you during surgery, you cannot sue him. The office staff scheduled me for a 9:30am appointment but when I arrived, they said that my appointment was actually for 8:00am(which was a blatant lie). Then, when I requested to be re-scheduled, they said that they couldn’t do any earlier than 9am because the doctor doesn’t come in until 9:00. Do you see the problem here? How could I have missed an 8:00am appointment when(by their own admission) the doctor doesn’t arrive until 9:00? I am going to check the billing to my insurance company to see if they billed me for a «no show». If so, I’m going to tell the insurance company that they are attempting to defraud them. The doctor’s staff was supposed to fax my paperwork to a Pain Management doctor that I had seen in the past. They botched the paperwork and as a result, my insurance didn’t accept the referral until it was too late. Because of the office staff’s incompetence, I will have to endure a 16 hour plane ride with 4 degenerated discs and no cortisone shot to relieve the pain. The pain management clinic I use had appointments available for the this week but because they screwed up the paperwork I missed the opportunity to get the treatment. Then, once you depart the doctor’s office, they make you pay a $ 3 fee for parking. How cheap and shifty are you guys that you have to charge patients to park in you parking lot, after we’ve just spent hundreds of dollars to see the doctor??? What a joke. …and all of this is kind-of a shame because the doctor actually seems like a nice enough guy. I guess I will never really know because I will be taking my business elsewhere. Be afraid!!! Be VERY afraid, of this doctor.
