I think your best bet is to visit this place for breakfast. I’ve been here several times(15+) and I never leave ecstatic about the food I eat. Not much else to say about it…

So long Shorehouse. I was literally heartbroken when I stopped by back in October to find your windows covered in parchment paper with a note on the door thanking your customers. I called my sister in SC immediately to share the news. My family and I have spent many many crazy late nights(even when we were kids) at the restaurant. We even stuck with you through the constant change of ownership and good and bad food that you served. We love you and you will be missed.

Im going to keep this short. Since I think I wrote about closed location in Seal beach. Its the same exact food and the staff has always been friendly with me as well. I’ve had everything and nothing is bad BUT the chinese chicken salad even the waitress said not to get it once I called in an order LOL. It’s pretty straightforward diner food, more than passable. Sorry my fellow Unilocal friend Alex didn’t like this spot, but it works for me whenever I need lunch at 7am LOL

It was getting late and my friends wanted to stay local so we decided to just eat here. Right off the bat, I thought the service was great. We were seated right away and the host was really nice about accommodating our group. The server, too, was really nice and attentive. I was super excited for my order — Country Fried Steak — especially when it came out and it practically filled half the plate! My excitement immediately turned sour after my first bite. LITERALLY. there was something very off with the taste of the meat. At first, I thought that maybe it was the seasoning/batter, but it was definitely the meat. It had a weird sour after taste :[ two of my friends, tried it as well and confirmed my suspicions. I’m pretty sure it was SPOILED! definitely did not finish my meal. I was also disappointed in the Center Cut Pork Chop entrée. It came with two VERY small chops, maybe the size of jar lids. The home fries weren’t anything special either, I’d go with the classic hash browns next time. I’m sure maybe it was just my luck because everyone seemed to enjoy their food. However, based on my experience, I’m just glad I didn’t get a stomach ache the next day!

While I’m typically not a fan of diner food, Shoreline has enough of a range to cover my needs. Vegetarian, flavorful, health(ish), fattening, comfort food, breakfast, lunch, and dinner all day/night long. 24 hour diner. The only non-chain that I’m aware of in Long Beach. Pros: Open all night. Friendly staff. Drunken customers will entertain you(past midnight: definitely a way to get a chuckle). Decent food. Big portions. Cons: Little pricey($ 21 for two breakfast dishes). Parking on 2nd is never fun. Not even late. It *can* get sketchy at the wee hours of morning. I would much prefer to eat here, even as a non-diner-type person, than at a place like At Last or Starling, to be honest. However, it doesn’t touch The Coffee Cup in quality.

I have been coming here for years. And honestly the food isn’t that great. At least now when I come in here sober. The breakfasts are OK. I stick with the Country Skillet. I recently came in here for lunch and had a Chicken Club and some fries which tasted old and soggy. The sandwich was not bad, but you can get better sandwiches at Murphy’s. So, the best time to come here is between 12:00AM and 2:00AM and order fried food to your hearts content, because that is one thing they are good at here.

Grew up in Long Beach and used to go there at nights after hanging/partying with friends. Service is incredibly slow. The waiters most of the times I’ve been there have never been super busy; they just are not«with it.» If you’ve been out partying or feel a little drunk and have nothing but time, come eat here. One of the times I was there… a fight broke out and half the people left. One drunk guy on the floor and the waiters didn’t even bother to tell him to get out. Their customer service is legendary for being clueless. But I must say the shakes are good. That’s about the only food item there that is worth the price. Everything else is overpriced. Quality of the food not that great.

My Mom & I and needed some one on one with her #1 Son(of 3) & Mom time on this July 4th morning and, she like myself is ICKS-VILLE about The Coffee Crap Café, Pot Oder, Eggs Less than Etc, and Egg Hell not Heaven. ====================================================== They really have done a nice job on this iconic diner in Belmont Shore. From the booths, counters seating, interior, bathrooms etc. Especially the kitchen whic is spotless clean and modern. We both really enjoyed the ambiance which added to our breakfast. My order-Eggs Benedict, two extra large Eggs, draped perfectly with Hollandaise Sauce, settled over a nicely sliced square cut piece of Ham on an English muffing, a side of perfectly browned and cooked hash browns, added a little Tobasco Sauce, a fresh Peach & Orange with Parsley to freshen my breath after my meal. My beverage was coffee and I sure could tell they used tap water(as I do not) but a good cupper or two to chase away my night of Tito’s after a dinner party the evening prior. Mom’s order-An Avocado, Spinach and Cheddar Cheese Omelet, not runny, firmly prepared, and a Friz-Bee sized Pancake with powdered Sugar and Maple Syrup. Mom’s beverage was Decaf which she made a little face about too because the water in Mariposa is well water that comes from the snow melts from Yosemite; still a good cupper in her opinion too despite she was not chasing away the effects of Tito’s! Also, two large waters that I asked to have the Lemons scrubbed prior to having them placed on the lip of our glasses(you should do this Unilocalers they don’t wash those Lemons in restaurants, just rinse them the just roll them out on the counter and cut them up. Our server was the typical Shore House Café Beach girl and, was so efficient, cool and for $ 23.50 tip included I feel we got a great meal. And, since we got here at 9:30AM we beat the crowds that were waiting outside when we were leaving. Oh and yes two & a half hours later I went to lunch with Jim at Heritage Family Pantry and afterwards got the ITIS but hey if:

Went here in may sometime after my birthday. Its a dinner. We went on a sunday afternoon. The food was pretty good. We all really enjoyed our food. As far as service, lets just say that I have had better. Our waitress was terrible. Which I kind of expected, but she even surpassed that. Clearly this woman had a lot of fun in the 60’s and 70’s. Aside from her train wreak appearance she was bad. My bf never got a refill, my dad never got his drink and our food took FOREVER! I mean the host actually came over twice to ask if we had placed our order and if we were okay. We were also sat at a table that wasn’t cleaned off all the way. I actually had to flag down the host(our waitress was no where to be found), to ask her politely if she could eliminate the Starbucks cups that were not ours and were still on our table. Good, food, bad service, typical dinner.

There are not many places to eat on 2nd street at 11:00pm on a Saturday night. There should be since there are still many people wandering the street at that time, but there is not. This shortage of eating places led us to the Shore house café. The people working there were quite friendly — much friendlier than I would be if I was working the night shift. On the other hand, some of the patrons were beyond annoying. There was a table of drunks literally yelling across the table at each other. I think the restaurant should have asked them to shut up or leave but they were probably afraid to — it is Long Beach after all. I guess at 11:20pm you can’t be too picky about your food — most of the people eating here are probably too intoxicated to care how it tastes, but just remember, it’s cheap for a reason. You can get a big old breakfast for about $ 6, but your stomach might not be too happy with you later.

.., craving another late night meal, my gf Diane & I hit our old trusty friend, the Shore House. I alone must have been here a dozen times, & still haven’t made it past eating a quarter of what is on their menu. There is so much to choose from here. Everything that I’ve ordered so far has been delicious, so it makes it that much harder to decide what I want to eat. Our server this time was a younger fellow who was a bit slower than the other servers we’ve had prior, wasn’t quite as attentive either. We were given waters by another server telling us that we would be taken care of soon. But that«soon» took him 10 minutes to finally find our table. We were already ready to order after he had said hello. We started off w/a chicken risotto soup, which was really terrific. I’ve never heard of that soup before til’ now. It had the right amount of thickness to it blending well w/the risotto. Great flavor. For my entrée, I had the Italian sausage w/scrambled eggs, sourdough bread, & pancakes. I loved it! The Italian sausage came as a pair, both halved long ways so I had 4 strips all together. Not the biggest Italian sausage I’ve seen, but it was perfect for it wasn’t too filling given the untouched pancakes I still had to conquer. This was the first time I’ve ever had pancakes from the Shore House, & they didn’t disappoint. A small stack of 3 cakes, ¾ of an inch thick & surprisingly fluffy in taste. They were really good, a little skimpy on the syrup however, but I made sure it was spread out evenly. Slow server this time, but we’re still faithful to the Shore House! Check em’ out!

This is the first place I ate at when I moved to Long Beach. I had a late night reunion with one of my best friends from college who grew up in Long Beach and wanted to show me around. She told me the Shore House was a great place to stop especially after going out to the bars. We weren’t really hungry, just craving something quick, so we got nachos to share. For only $ 4 – 5, that was a huge portion! We got it without meat and asked for extra guac instead, and we were both very full by the time we finished. I can’t speak for the rest of the food, but if you’re in need of a late night snack this place seems to be great and affordable, and open 24 hours!

I have walked by this place 100 times and never went here… My friend Mr. S.G. Attack suggested it and it was one of the best suggestions he has ever made. We had a really great meal here. I had my breakfast and lunch here. 2 eggs over medium, with bacon, home fries and a side order of blueberry pancakes. The meal was delicious. I rate a quality breakfast joint by the quality of their potatoes. And the home fries here are awesome! Crispy chunks of potatoe, with grilled onions and green peppers. It was yummy. We all enjoyed ourselves. Recommended.

If you’re DRUNK and you know it CLAP your hands! Oh Shore House… for some odd and strange reason I have never experienced this place when it’s day light, it does NOT sound appealing at all on the other hand the times I’ve been here past 10pm ya I guess the freaks do come out at night Every single time it’s been that diner where everyone is just wasted and wants to sober up because there are so many cops strolling 2nd street or they are trying to get those last minute #s The service is poor… I don’t blame them though they are dealing with sloppy and intoxicated people(for the most part) the wait after 1am is seriously like 45 – 1 hour wait… Lol really? this place is NOT that serious The food is pretty good, but then again doesn’t everything taste so much better when you’re under the influence? or is it just me? Anyway good times here… but not my type of «day time» restaurant/café If you happen to be sober let me just give ya a BIG warning YOU might be on the annoyed side so prepare for patience… lot’s if my add ;)

Walked in around 4am and sat myself at the bar. It was a little chilly because the door was open. I grabbed a menu, knowing what I wanted: French Toast. They had stuffed French Toast. I could add bananas or blueberries(for 90 cents)? Cool. I’ll do that. The FT wasn’t special, but it hit the spot. The cream cheese wasn’t sweetened or mixed with anything and the bananas were simply placed on top. My coffee was the last cup of the pot. My refill was the first of the next. Service was great and friendly. I’m glad I came here instead of Denny’s.

The Shore House Café is DEFINITELY the place to be if you are wanting breakfast in Long Beach, 24 hours! The breakfasts are AMAZING and very affordable! The wait staff are the sweetest and never fail to notice if you need something. Great coffee. Good sized portions. Cool décor, very eclectic. Awesome all around. Definitely coming back next time I am in the area!

We wanted to get breakfast but most of the good places in Long Beach were crowded. so we ended up here. I was not impressed with the restaurant and its food but we were starving. Carnitas with egg: not bad when you are hungry. Crab benedict: tasteless Overall experience: I would not go back there unless this was the only restaurant open in the area and I was starving to death.

it is a sad day in history when I am equally bummed that I had to come here only because the workers at Taco Bell shut the door on me at 1:01am. The depressing scenario gets worse: tonight, I was sober. I was so sober that upon approaching the restaurant, I allowed an extremely drunk girl who was leaving the restaurant to swing her purse wildly at me and tag me on the arm with it(she was swinging it at everyone in her way). The only good thing about drunk people when you’re sober is that they are not paying attention. So when my friend & I walked into the crowded waiting area and the host asked who was next to be seated, my friend raised her hand and off to a table we went. We sat at a table right next to the King of the Brotards and one of his jesters. Our ok pancake breakfast, substandard clam chowder, dinner salad with runny ranch, and watered-down javas were tolerated during choruses of «Dude!» and«Bro» and talk of hot Asian girls and depictions of an orgy with Victoria Secret models and plans of going to Saatchi tomorrow night. Trina, our server, was a doll to us and gave us good, polite service. She comped our coffees as a sign of thanks for putting up with all the enebriated folk. «I think we’re the only sober people in here», I tell her. «I think so, too», she replies with a run-while-you-can smile. Yeah, I’m running, far, far away… and never looking back.

We were pretty desperate after midnight to find a place to grab a bite and since we had come from a Benny Hinn NYE service at the LB Performing Arts Center, we decided to find a place in the Long Beach area for dining afterward. We didn’t have many options since it was so late so despite the mediocre ratings on Unilocal,we decided to try this place out since it’s the only place we found open this late hour. We were seated in a manner of minutes which was a relief, given that we were a party of 6 and fairly hungry. The only thing was initially, the host asked us to wait outside in the cold to get out of the way of the servers. We were about to leave when luckily, he said our table was ready. The place was filled with an eclectic clientele which is my kind of place actually. We were given menus which contained an extensive variety of foods which would satisfy any hungry customer. They listed items such as breakfast, pastas, pizzas, soups, burgers, sandwiches, steak dinners plates and more. Our group was thankful for the variety and everyone was able to find something they liked. I settled on the chicken plate dinner which consisted of a chicken breast on mashed potatoes with two biscuits topped with gravy, mixed veggies and a corn cobette. It also came with a choice of either minestrone soup or a dinner salad. I thought it was a lot of food for $ 10.95 and that it was actually decent tasting. I also tried a slice of pepperoni and sausage pizza a member of our party had ordered and though it was a tad bland, could be improved upon by adding a sprinkling of red pepper flakes or dipping it in some ranch dressing as I customarily am want to do. My dinner was good and it’s a great place for the late night munchies as they’re open 24⁄7. Our server was a laid back hipster who was attentive to our needs and very accommodating to our special order requests. I’m hardly ever am in this part of town but seeing that they serve a variety of decent grub for a decent price, if I were in the area again, I would definitely consider Shore House Café for a meal.

Ehh, yknow, whenever my boyfriend and I are walkin’ around Long Beach, we always come here. Con: The prices seem to be a little more expensive compared to Dennys. Pro: The portion sizes are quite large. Con: It takes FORREEVVVER to get a waitress to, well, wait on you. We’ve been in there on a Thursday afternoon, when it was practically dead, and it still took about 10 – 15 mins to get our drink orders. Con/pro?: As far as the waitresses attitudes, they’ve never really gone out of their way or anything as far as re-filling drinks or whatnot. they’re your typical grumpy, tired, lackluster waitresses. Eh, if you”ve got the drunken munchies, and its past midnight, this is a nice alternative to Dennys.
