Always great food here at Number Nine and the best friendly staff and they are fast. Everything is tasty.

First of all their tea is brewed to perfection. None of that bitterness that has to be drowned in sugar. We had the Bún bowls of shrimp and tofu and we both loved it! Their portions are good and we were both satisfied but not stuffed. Their food had a great taste to it which makes me want to come back. If I lived nearby I’d go here maybe once a week.

I’ve given this place 3 tries and every time it hasn’t been worth it. The price you’re paying for is location because the rest isn’t great. The vegan phở lacked flavor. Lunch special add ons were a good deal so that’s why they get 2 stars.

Delicious! The ingredients are fresh and high quality. We had the shrimp summer rolls and bun. Our server was also very friendly and attentive. Glad we cane. Almost did not because of the reviews. Come! You will love it… but you will pay a bit more. Because it’s good.

The Phó was amazing. I had the rare steak and brisket which is grass fed and a key reason I came here to begin with. It is definitely worth a couple of extra dollars for my wife and I to enjoy quality food. This is my 2nd visit and I cant wait to come back. Also try the appetizer sampler during their happy hour. Delicious!!!

My favorite is the 5-spice chicken and shrimp over vermicelli noodles. Staff are friendly and attentive. Love this place!

This review has nothing to do with sitting down and eating at the restaurant at all because that is easily awesome for them and I highly recommend it. This is, however about the to-go food. Number9 why do you not include, like most noodle soup places, a bowl or container large enough for your Phở soup. Anyone getting your food via various delivery services or just to go is left with no warning about needing a huge bowl in which to dump the contents of the separated yet delicious food items. Management you should really look into this because serving up to go food with no way of eating it… Why bother

Overall pretty decent. Not amazing. We had a gift card so we tried it out. Not the best phở ever and the ambiance(modern minimal décor with barely there uncomfortable chairs) detracted from the experience in my opinion. Parking is an issue, of course. But overall I probably won’t come back to this particular place, mostly because it’s kind of expensive for what you get and I’m rarely in the area. So, meh.

Meh. This place usually has good service, but it’s very expensive for phở. The last and final time we went here, both my bf and received our phở with the meat still raw. When we brought it to the staffs attention they fixed by adding more hot water. Phở needs to be served piping hot or it doesn’t turn out. A phở place should know that! The only reason I give 2 stars is bc of the service. Not great food at too high of prices.

This place was great. After going through all of the reviews and seeing that the number one complaint was price, I decided to give this place a try anyways. The husband and I are trying to eat healthier, and that includes getting grass fed meat from local sources. Number nine offers this. It costs more than the phở place down the street because the ingredients cost more! I ordered the rare steak phở and I was not disappointed. Everything was cooked perfectly and the taste was great. Service was nice too! I am grateful for a healthy alternative to food I already love :)

Hipster Vietnamese restaurant. Doesn’t have all the toppings you typically get at an authentic Phở place. No tripe. No beef balls. NOPHODACBIET! Large bowls with lots soup and not a lot of noodles. Soup flavor was good but not the best. I do like that they don’t used MSG. Bf got the mélange and I got the rare steak. The mélange had shrimps the size of quarters. Really tiny. VERY overpriced though. Kinda ridiculous. $ 10 something for a bowl. I had phở at a different place in LB last week and I got a medium and it had more noodles and toppings = more filling for almost half the price of a bowl at Number 9. My BF got a XL bowl at the other place and it wasn’t as pricey as Number 9. Customer service was not great for me. It actually sucked! There were 3 servers on the floor. All of them chit chatting and doing their own thing. The floor wasn’t busy. They avoided eye contact. Didn’t refill waters until asked and I had to ask twice. Didn’t clear appetizer dishes until asked. Not friendly.

Overpriced, I feel that you pay for the ambience and décor rather than the food itself. You can get the exact same bowl of phở at a joint on Anaheim for half the price literally. The place is very tiny and easily missed! Customer service is usually great. Pass

This is the epitome of Vietnamese Phở for an American audience. Now don’t get me wrong, Number Nine isn’t bad, but it also isn’t the best phở you’ll ever have. And trust me, I have had a lot of delicious phở in my lifetime. To start off, I do really enjoy the clean, simple, healthy, and enjoyable dining experience with fresh ingredients harvested from local farms, and most importantly no MSG. I really like their stance and mission of the restaurant, which is extremely commendable. Not like most Asian places that are really dirty and use lots of MSG. I mean, maybe thats why it isn’t as good? Hahaha just kidding. The server was really nice, but she simply did not have the knowledge of the food. I simply asked, Is this Northern or Southern style phở? She had no clue what I was talking about. To me it seemed more Northern style due to the lack of variety of proteins and the clear broth, but it tasted like Southern style phở because it was mild in flavor. It wasn’t the worst phở I have ever had and I would probably come back and try some of their other dishes. I also think that their pricing is outrageous. $ 10 for a bowl of phở with like 5 pieces of meat? Wow… I’m used to phở with tons of meat and flavor for $ 5 or $ 6.

Great phở for only $ 11. Ask for the dick sauce. Spring rolls are really good and so is the Jasmin tea!

My daughter and I love Retro Row, and decided we needed dinner and vegan chocolate so off we went. We walked past and smelled the super yummy Phở coming from Nine but carried on to get our chocolates. We asked at Ananadine where they would recommend for vegan in walking distance. He suggested Number Nine, yay vegan Phở — perfect because it smelled amazing but we thought it would be all bone broth. We went in and it is self seating we grabbed a spot and waited a few minutes before menus arrived. We advised that we had vegan requirements and they let us know that the peanut sauce in the veggie spring rolls contained fish sauce and they could easily give us an alternate sauce. We order 2 bowls of Veggie Phở and spring rolls and 2 waters. We unfortunately had to ask for our waters a second time when our spring rolls were delivered but other than that the service was good, a little slow, but I think there was a large party in the back so that explains why service was a little slow. The spring rolls were really good and the alternate sauce was excellent, it tasted like it was a vinegar base and a little spicy just perfect. The phở came in a huge bowl, It was flavorful with large pieces of mushroom, carrot, daikon, noodles, and tofu. Of course all the traditional add ins jalapeño, sprouts, basil, Hoisin and Siracha are served on the side. If I could do ½ stars this ould be one of those times, the slow service made it more than a 3 but not quite a 4. Everything was good a little more expensive then Little Saigon, but I was very comfortable that they fully understood food restrictions. I will be back.

We are back again & it’s same as always. Unique & beautiful V food. Five stars! We always get the calamari appetizer and request lettuce wraps. A slightly healthier way to eat fried food. Plus you need to eat Phở, which is full of delicious ingredients, Mushrooms, onions, thin white noodles, bok choy, sautéed tofu, And a few other delicious things. Also whatever meats or shrimp or vegetarian how ever you prefer. Their Steak sandwich has the best spicy sauce. It’s right at my personal threshold. But my fiancé adds fresh sliced jalapeños. The service is very friendly and they really hustle from the kitchen pick up area to the tables. They have local beers and wine and a few mixed drinks. Shoji Let chi rocks! Our favorite dessert is the Ginger custard Flawn! The prices are from $ 8.00 for appetizers. $ 12 .00 main dishes. Beer was $ 6.00, Shoji was $ 6.00 … Very fair!

I came to #9 this past Friday after agreeing with the bf that every Friday this fall would be PHO-ridays. I have lived in LB for the past 10 years(and less than a mile from this place) and have managed to never make it in. I usually prefer to go to the more ‘ethnic’ spots for Phở such as Phở America on Pacific or Phở Hong Phat on Anaheim but hey what the heck we decided to give this super hipster 4th street place a try. From the outside this place looks ‘cool’ and exactly what any restaurant on 4th should look like but sadly that was the highlight. Heres why… Ambiance: Cool, trendy, clean with a cute front patio space to sit at if you are into that. No complaints here. Total score: 5⁄5 Service: I don’t believe in Unilocal hazing so I will not call out our server but for real. I should not have to ask for Sriracha 3 times in order to get it and Phở should not take 30 min to get to the table especially when there are plenty of open tables inside and out. Total score: 2⁄5 Price: Prices here are priced fairly for 4th street but obviously above what one should pay for Phở. Phở was priced around $ 13, Banh Mi around $ 11(SAYWHAT?!), and appetizers around $ 9. Total score: 3⁄5 What was ordered: Lemongrass Beef Skewers $ 9: Grilled lemongrass marinated beef skewers served with yummy peanut sauce and jasmine rice. Beef was very tender and fell of the stick however it wouldn’t have been as good if it didn’t come with the peanut sauce. Mélange Phở $ 12: Steak, chicken, brisket, tofu, daikon, carrot, and mushroom is savory broth. I will give number nine this, their broth is tasty and I could taste hints of clove which was interesting however I would have liked this a lot more if it was hot when it got to me. If anything it was warm so much so that the noodles took forever to break apart. After waiting 30min for this, I didn’t get why the soup was so warm. Aside from temperature, meats were a bit dry. Overall takeaway. Not worth the hype. Vietnamese Coffee $ 4: First off I ordered Vietnamese hot coffee and repeated that to my server 2 times yet somehow he still managed to show up with cold iced coffee. Being that I didn’t want to wait another 15min I took the cold coffee and left. It was ok to say the least not amazing coffee. Though this place is fine if you are craving Phở and need a fix and in need for some hipster people watching I would suggest save some money and head to Phở America or Phở Hong Phat and have some great food.

Not bad, but didn’t blow me away. I had the barbecue pork cold vermicelli noodles and a Vietnamese iced coffee. The noodles and all of the veggies and sauces were good, but the barbecue pork was a little tough and bland. The Vietnamese iced coffee was good — less sweet than what most people may be used to. My mom got some phở and enjoyed it. Clean, simple décor, and the place is filled with the fresh scent of cilantro and basil. Service wasn’t anything remarkable, and I don’t recall the waitress checking up on us.
