I’m seriously impressed by this girl. Her knowledge about hair and her dedication to her craft is admirable.
She is so so SO GOOD!
When it comes to hair talk, I’m pretty much in the dark. I have a hard time articulating what I want. I don’t know the proper verbage. Stephany explains in layman’s terms to help me understand what we’re going to do, and the result is ALWAYS fantastic.
Now that I’ve layed down the deets on her skills, let’s talk about her personality. SUPER sweet lady with a sense of humor to boot. Spending hours at a time here are, dare I say, enjoyable. And that is coming from someone who usually can’t stand getting her hair done due to the long process (patience is not my strong suit).

I have never trusted anyone with my hair as much as I do Stephany. She loves what she does & makes sure that you love it too or you won’t leave. Had an AMAZING experience at London lights salon! Stephany is APPOINTMENT ONLY so please book through her website! I contacted her via email first to consult about the look I was going for. Stephany was so quick to respond to any questions I had and was great at communicating with me up to and during my entire appointment! Her studio is so cute and clean. She was down to earth and made me feel so comfortable trust me I get really anxious! I was extremely happy with my hair! I did alooooot of research to find someone who I could trust my hair with, I haven’t colored my hair in years and I wanted to make sure it would look great and stay healthy! The salon is a bit farther from where I live but it was worth the drive. My hair was exactly what I asked for and wanted, I’ve already received countless compliments and it hasn’t even been a week since my appointment L0L! Cannot wait to go back can’t image anyone else coloring my hair thank you stephany!

Showed up 8 minutes late for my appointment I made that happened to be on the rainiest day of the year and found that I had accidentally left my wallet home. I was told it would cost $ 50 to reschedule my $ 65 haircut. That sounds like «f&$@ you» in hairstylist language. Looks like she’s a great stylist, I wish I could’ve experienced it myself. I definitely won’t be paying for 1 haircut for the price of 2.

Stephany is a hair color genius! She’s truly knowledgable on hair color, and explained the entire process it would take for my natural dark brown hair to lighten into an ash blonde color. She asks what you want exactly done to your hair (at this point I showed her a picture on my phone), and then she began to teach me about the process of lightening naturally warm, dark hair like mine to a cool, ash blonde ombré. she’s very patient and nice when explaining, I wasn’t afraid to ask her more questions. The outcome of my hair was subtly different from my original hair (aside from the length), but only too keep my hair as healthy as it can be for when she puts colors the ash blonde in December.
Her salon venue itself is clean and exclusive. You have to walk into the door that says «Phenix salon suites» in order to find her salon. She lets you choose a movie, a tv show, or just music to play as she starts the process. While we waited for the color to set, she offered juice, water, or coffee. At the end of the appointment, she gave me 2 little travel-​sized bottles of Paul Mitchell products for spending $ 200 on a service.
Her recommendations are so helpful as well! She suggested the «It’s a 10» miracle leave in product and Paul Mitchell super skinny serum on top or that right after the shower. It’s worked wonders on my hair! Couldn’t be any shinier, healthier, and more manageable!
TL;DR — Stephany is well-​versed in her work and can work wonders to your hair while providing great service :)

Best hair appointment I’ve had in years, if not ever.
I’m new to Long Beach, so I needed a new hair person. Historically speaking, I usually have not been entirely loyal to one stylist. Usually, it’s whoever was convenient, which hasn’t really been a good methodology because I’m blonde, so it can be a real hit or miss.
Anyways, Stephany hit it out of the park (excuse my cliché). She is AMAZING. Her studio is awesome; never been to a place like it. And perhaps most importantly, she did the best job on my hair. I’ve never had such a good dye job. Needless to say, I’ll now be one of her loyal following.

Stephany is nothing short of a hair genius. Since I started coloring my hair at 15 and have done nearly every color, from platinum blonde to black (never again!) and all shades of red you can think of, I’ve definitely seen my fair share of hair stylists. I always liked my hair after going to different stylists, but never LOVED my hair… until I found Stephany, thanks to Unilocal!
I’ve never received more compliments on my hair than I have since seeing Stephany! I have to credit her in a big way for always being creative and throwing out ideas and giving feedback, rather than just going blindly with the pictures I show her. I know she does this to insure that I have a color that works well with my skintone and cut, rather than just any old red, and I always love the result. There’s so much depth to every color she’s done for me and it blows my mind that the color always fades on tone and is always so pretty between visits — it’s like a get multiple shades out of one visit!
Aside from being a color wizard, Stephany is also super rad and the time spent chatting and hair coloring always flies by!
All in all, I highly highly recommend a visit to London Calling Studio, I promise you won’t be disappointed.

My trust issues with hair stylists probably runs deeper than my trust issues with men. Yeah, it’s serious, so the fact that I am willing to vouch for Stephany says a lot about her skill.
Since age 18 when I first exposed my hair to any kind of bleach or dye, I have probably filtered through 20+ hair stylists; never sticking with one for more than a couple visits. While part of this is attributed to my fickle nature/​high expectations, some stylists were straight up clueless, while others did a fine job, but couldn’t quite achieve what I was hoping for. Of all the times I’ve walked out of a salon, I’ve probably been completely satisfied 10% of the time, and Stephany falls into that 10%.
I don’t think you need much more convincing than browsing through her client photos; that’s definitely how I decided to first book with her. I jumped on the ombré trend, admittedly late, mostly because I had seen so many bad ones and wanted to find a stylist who really knew their shit. And Stephany really does know her shit, especially when it comes to color. She not only makes an effort to completely understand what your hair-​goal is, but also makes sure to probe and understand your hair-​HISTORY. As someone who went from brown to blonde to pink, back to blonde, then a (accidental) green to black, I came to understand how important that is. (A visit to a stylist who DIDN’T fully know where my hair had been, left me with warm roots and cool, green-​y ends. Of course my fault as well for not divulging… but she didn’t really ask, and I didn’t understand at the time that it was important to let this be known. We’ll call that one even.)
…I’m getting long-​winded. Bottom line, Stephany is great at what she does; look at her damn photos, book with her, and you probably won’t want to go elsewhere.

Stephany rules. Plain and simple. The only bummer is that I went so long without her! Stephany is amazing on every aspect. She literally saved my hair!
The person who was doing my hair before was bleaching my hair (I was full platinum at the time) and leaving me under the dryer for long periods of time. She also started getting kinda sloppy with the cut and after she would bleach it, there would banding in my hair (strips of my root showing randomly in my hair). My hair was so brittle and damaged, it was awful. I needed help. Fast.
I wanted to start transitioning out of platinum and start getting my hair healthy again. I found Stephany and decided to give it a shot and I am SO happy I did! Stephany did wonders on my hair! I’m embarrassed I used to walk around like that before, but now I don’t have to worry because I know my hair is in great hands. Coming in and seeing her is always a treat too because she’s super fun to talk to!
If you’re looking for someone new to do your hair that will do an amazing job and make you look and feel wonderful, this is the girl for you!

Amazing work! Glad to have found Stephany :) I loved how easy her booking technique was and how private her salon is. There was no waiting, I watched a movie as she worked on me, was offered water and felt very comfortable. She definitely hears out what you want done, and gives you her professional advice as well. I went in for a very natural looking style since I wanted to keep a low maintenance hairstyle. She nailed it and I couldn’t be any happier. I def recommend her! After turning my hair yellow with at home highlights, I desperately searched Unilocal for a stylist that did color correction. That’s how I first came to Stephany, and she’s is a genius with hair color. Over the past year and half since my first appointment, I’ve received more compliments on my hair than I have my entire life! I trust her so much now that I basically just sit in the chair and say «Do whatever you think will look best.» And it always looks AMAZING!

My first appointment with Stephany was for a major color correction.
A friend (at a different salon) had tried to lift years of at-​home box dye from my almost black hair, leaving me with ‘hot roots’ and too much color variation /​damage for my liking.
Stephany was able, in one visit, to lighten my hair and even out the color without doing any additional damage. My hair actually felt healthier after she colored it! During my consultation she made sure to thoroughly explain what to expect, and recommended that we lighten gradually over a period of months to avoid further damage.
When my hair lightened to an orange-​y red we decided to embrace it, and she gave me the coppery-​orange ombreyage of my dreams. I literally have strangers approaching me to compliment my color (often), she’s that good.
I tend to go about 2 months between visits and my color stays super vibrant. Also worth mentioning that she’s done some rad cuts for me as well!
I have to book about a month in advance, and drive an hour each way to her salon, and she is SO worth it! I always leave feeling confident and beautiful.

Now onto the review ~
Stephany made me feel super comftable when I was there, I had highlight in my hair, so she spent hours picking out the highlights to try to get my dark hair the same color as the highlights cause I wanted it to be one color pink. Anyway, 3.5 hours later, I got the hair I wanted. She’s very professional. I wasn’t sure on the pink at first cause I heard it was a lot of maintenance when it comes to the roots. So Stephany said that she doesn’t have to die my roots, instead she’ll dye my hair pink this session and the next time I come back she’ll do pink highlights near the roots to make it blend in with my black hair. Of course after it was done, she styled my hair, took a picture and I was ready to go. I love how professional she is. The studio is very neat and clean. While doing my hair, she gave me the TV controller so I could pick a movie to watch. She’s super friendly, since my hair took forever, she asked if I wanted any refreshments. It was very relaxing. It was also affordable for me too. Considering I’m a college student with no job.

Stephany is incredible at color. I transitioned from platinum hair to a more natural looking ombré, and she was able to make my natural color transition seamlessly into the lighter ends. I have colored my hair for the last 13 years, and this is the first time
I’ve ever been able to let it grow in and not have to maintain it every month or two. She did my color 6 months ago, and it still looks fresh. I love how low maintenance my hair has become. She just knows what she is doing, and I have total confidence that I
could ask for any look or color and she would kill it and probably make it look even better than what I had in mind. I drive down from LA to have her do my hair, and it’s totally worth the commute. Go see her!

When I moved to Long Beach from New Jersey in 2013, I left behind a hairstylist I had entrusted my hair to for practically my entire life. The idea of entrusting someone new with my precious locks was daunting to say the least. I was happy with my hair in NJ but, I have to say, I’m IN LOVE with my hair now.
I really, really lucked out when I found Stephany Van Stone. She’s creative, intuitive, honest, and extremely skilled at her craft. She keeps your best interests in mind and lets you know if something you ask for is a bad idea… which is invaluable!
Moreover, she gives great advice on how to style your hair and advises you on the best hair products. That alone has changed the health, look and feel of my hair.
Plus, this new salon space is fantastic! Really nice décor with a very intimate, chill vibe. It’s just stylist and client so it’s very peaceful and quiet. I can’t imagine going back to a crowded, noisy salon ever again.

I was so happy to come across her via Unilocal/​Instagram. I knew instantaneously that I needed to book an appointment with her based off of what I saw on her Instagram… and I was not disappointed. She worked her magic and gave me the cutest short ‘do and fulfilled my dreams of having red hair. My hair has never looked better.
She also recommended products for me to use (which no one has ever done before) and I couldn’t be happier with her recommendations.

Like most women I know, I am very protective over my hair. So needless to say, trying out a new stylist is always a nerve-​racking experience. To complicate matters even more, I had been toying with the idea of chopping of my very long hair. Such a big change was scary to me to begin with, but entrusting a stranger to do it was, well… Very scary.
So anyway, I discovered Stephany. Within two minutes of meeting her, I felt 100% comfortable with her and confident in her ability to give me such a big change. And she completely defied my expectations. And it is no exaggeration to say that it was, and has been, the best haircut (and color) I have ever, ever had. Believe the hype: she is a wizard.
