You don’t even have to have kids to love and appreciate this shop. It’s that rad. The style is excellent, the selection is super cool and varied, and it feels like a fresh, artful approach to family outfitting instead of the ol’ «Blue. Or pink.» The owner is sweet, kind, funny and knows the story behind everything she sells. She does the work to seek out unique, small brands and offers a lot of local, handmade, and ethically sourced goods. But also know that doesn’t mean everything is crazy expensive. They keep a good selection, and overall prices feel pretty comparable.(I don’t have bebes, so I’ve only shopped for showers and others’ kids. But this compares to what I’ve spent at other boutiques, and I love this 10 times more.) You can find a gift that’s unique and affordable. There’s a very creative, authentic, and worldly(but not uppity) vibe here. They do classes and activities as well, which I think is awesome, being a local. Way to enrich your community. They seem to be living their beliefs here, and really care about children. Which means helping grow community, which means carrying products from smaller and more ethical companies, which means yes you can get something cheaper that’s made in a sweatshop, but make the choice not to when it is in your power and means to do so. We all gotta support shops like this to make the bigger impact. *steps off of soapbox If you’re not from Long Beach, know that you shouldn’t have a problem with parking. There’s usually plenty around on the side streets. And there’s a great coffee shop just around the corner. Bonus for the sans-child girl(or guy): There’s also some cool vintage pieces and a great little spread of home goods. I got some more of my favorite Juniper Ridge incense and tea while here. My only complaint is I saw quite a few things I’d like to wear, and i’m about 384 months past fitting into the sizes. Warning: This store might make your clock start ticking, if it’s not already. If you need a shower gift or a cute kiddo outfit, definitely check out this store!

I took my son here for story time and we both really enjoyed it! The women conducting story time(sorry I’m horrible with names) was great! She not only read a few books but sang songs and had the kids accompany her while she played her guitar. Afterwards the kids stayed and played with the train set and other toys that the store owner has set out. A good time was had by all. Cute shop, great products, good people! We will definitely be back!

I always love a neighbourhood shop offering unique, unexpected fair priced things. It’s so fun to meander through this store. I originally went to shop for my friends new baby and ended up buying things for my house and registering for a workshop. Thank you for being in long beach!

Very creative and cute shop! And they hold really cool craft projects for adults too. Great way to meet others and learn from interesting artists. I made a clock in a class taught by Paul Frank!

Family Store is a great new children’s boutique just off of 4th St. that carries not only an excellent collection of children’s and baby clothing, but a ton of gorgeous housewares, art and gifts. It’s such a neat space with a very cool vintage vibe to it, with activities and toys put out for kids to play with while you shop. There is so much to look at from so many different brands and local artists — you can really tell the owner has hand picked everything in the store. They also have several workshops a month for both kids and adults. I don’t have kids but whenever I am going to a baby shower and need a gift I come here and always find something super unique.
