I love the place, but the service sucks! Wish the service was better! The bartender are arrogant and just plain effing rude! They need to get rid of the idiots who think they run the place… The place would be so much better with better service…

Had a little too much fun and left my debit card open at the bar… Looks like I won’t be able to get it until Wednesday when they open again? It’s Sunday :(

Welcome home! Well, if home to you is a random big red barn with a rustic western theme that has a Cheers feeling to it. If you appreciate live music, fun djs, lots of dancing space, a rustic atmosphere, and bartenders that are ready for the party, you’ll like it here. There is a strong representation of regulars on all nights here. And this is home to them. So please don’t bring your drama into their home. If you do, they’ll let you know that it’s not welcome in their own loving way. For you first timers, take note: — There’s a cash only cover($ 3 Wednesdays and $ 5 on weekends). — Take note of dancefloor etiquette. If you don’t know what dancefloor etiquette is, look it up. It will save you lots of elbow jabs, push-aways, and glaring eyes. — Please don’t take your drink on the floor, it only makes it dangerous for everybody out there. — If you’re there celebrating, there is no outside food or beverage brought in. They DO make the exceptions of cakes for birthdays, but please note, they do NOT allow strawberries or peanuts in. Otherwise, have a great time. And don’t forget to buy some swag at the Frontierland gift shop. If you’re wondering what a «normal» night at Cowboy looks like, check out

The positive: The live music was good and the line dancing was so much fun. The negative: The bouncers at the door are super friendly and welcome you with warm smiles :-/(not EVEN a hello). The food is atrocious! Flavorless hamburger and fries! If I go back I’ll eat before I go.

Hadn’t been here in a few years and thought I would check it out again. It’s turned into a line dancer’s heaven, no longer catering to the true country dancers who made country bars in the first place. The DJ will not play a «two-step only» song, only line dances with two-step optional on the outside. With the small size of the dance floor very few people attempt to two-step while people are line dancing. I got there at 8:40pm on a Friday night. The DJ played 2 two-steps and a cha-cha between that time and 9pm when the band started. The band played for 30 minutes with about a 50 – 50 mix of line dance & couples dance songs. From 9:30 when the DJ started again until I left at 11:45pm there were 2 couples dances. At one point I counted 17 line dances in a row including while the band played. I get it, women line dance. Women bring in the men. But if you’re a couple, there’s little chance of dancing with your girl and if you’re a single guy there’s little to no chance of asking a girl to dance. A good country bar plays 4 – 5 couples dances and then 4 – 5 line dances(at least until the true dancers start to go home around 11pm). Not this place. Look at the dance floor during the line dances, there’s maybe 5 – 6 guys dancing among 40 women. As the saying goes, «Real Cowboys don’t line dance.» So if I can’t dance with a girl and I won’t line dance there’s no reason to go anymore. They’ve lost my business for good.

We had a bachlorette/birthday party with 15+ party goers. We tried to be as organized as possible as the party was to a surprise. I contacted Cowboy Country via email(as the website indicates) twice with no response, I followed up with phone calls that never got answered, I just got to listen to the club recording, which in itself was like being at Knott’s Berry Farm, I wonder if the same guy that does the recording for Knott’s does the phone recordings. We never were able to firm up our party plans with the club, so we sent an early bird party goer to help set up and get us a table. This worked, no problem except that were all still expecting to be able to have a meal. The club website shows a pretty good size menu that includes«Dinner Entrees» such as Steak/Fish/Chicken served with potato and veggies along with salads, burgers and sandwiches but the website was wrong — the only food available were burgers/sandwiches and appetizer/finger type foods. This was very disappointing, but we made the best of it and ordered about $ 80 of foods that we could graze on. The food wasn’t what I expected but it ended up being fine. Aside from being mislead about the food, I had a great time. The music was great and the drinking was plentiful. The Bartenders downstairs seemed a bit overwhelmed and it took a long while to get waited on by them but once you had their attention you got what you ordered. Drinks were very low priced which I appreciated. This place may not have been perfect, but I’ll be back and I’ll have the right expectation and I wont be disappointed.

Horrible horrible horrible!!! I’m from Wyoming not like that means anything but I know my country and what my roots represent and this is not it, this is the worst country bar I have been too and I’ve been to a lot, must be all want to be country people. First off I ask one of the ladies to watch my friend and I’s drink and she rudely says I don’t want watch drinks which also took 20 minutes to get them, then I requested a song and the DJ rudely denied, I guess he doesn’t know what modern country is, Jake Owen is extremely disappointed. I don’t recommend here at all.

This place is FUN. I didn’t expect it to be this much fun. Imagine a big barn with two levels. The first level has a lot going on… starting from the back there is a mechanical bull(free to ride!), small dance floor, a small apparel store and boot shining service, super big bar, stage for live music, and a large dance floor in the back(with the DJ next to it!). Upstairs has pool tables, window to order bar food, another bar, and another dance floor that overlooks the first floor. There is plenty to do here, and it’s all so much fun! You can drink, enjoy the live music, ride the mechanical bull, do line dancing lessons(usually they offer 2 a night), join in the line dancing, play pool, take advantage of the drinks specials throughout the night, socialize with the cool people there, and enjoy good ol country music! Even if you don’t like country music, you will have fun here… and probably will like country music at the end of the night. Some tips: $ 5 cover, and parking could be busy; please pay attention of the lots allowed for Cowboy Country or you can get towed. Other than that, have a good time!

I didn’t have high hopes for this place because I don’t really like the whole country scene but wow, it’s pretty awesome. The drinks are so cheap, the music is good, and the people are friendly. There is a cover charge to get in but it’s worth it. There are two stages and there was a live band in the center bar. I’ll definitely be back for some more cowboy fun.

Came here this past wknd for my friend’s bday. To be perfectly honest, this place is not really my scene, but I was pleasantly surprised by how entertaining it was to see everyone in sync on the dance floor. The vibe was okay up until I tried to order drinks at the bar upstairs, stood there waiting, two girls go up afterwards and get served. A guy walks up and gets served as well. The two bartenders made eye contact, but never asked until after they served the three other people that arrived after me. Okay. Not diggin the beer selection, either. My friend had a blast, though, so to each their own.

This place was pretty damn awesome. The one downside to living in LA is the lack of honky tonks, but you get everything you want here for that. Dancing lessons on multiple nights of the week and they have 2 dance floors, plus bull rides on the weekend. I’m still trying to figure out how to 2 step and have very limited experience. They have a side dance floor which is way more casual where people go to practice and I felt no pressure considering I’m a beginner. Great music all night and lots of live bands play here. Pool tables upstairs. Outside looks a little rough but don’t be intimidated, it’s a great time inside.

I LOVE country bars & at Cowboy Coutry Saloon you’ll get a LIVE band, a mechanical bull, pool tables upstairs, and a LARGE dance floor that acts as a stage since it’s slightly elevated above the rest of the bar! they also sell food upstairs its a $ 5 cover to get in on Friday nights which isn’t bad at all the one thing I have to say is that country bars in SoCal are very different than the ones in Arizona, i was pretty surprised. the line dancing routines are more complex here and dancing doesn’t seem as laid back the parking lot gets packed so come early(i risked parking across the street at Winco and didn’t get towed but that’s your own risk!) NOTE: it’s 75 cents per game of pool so bring quarters or get change!

YEEEEEHAW! This place is SOMUCHFUN. Come before 7 or it’s $ 5 for cover. Drinks are affordable $ 5, nothing on tap though. Finger foods are offered at a reasonable price, but you’re not supposed to be here to eat. You’re here to get them boots clacking. Free line dancing lessons at 7 and 8. Wished they could have taught one more like at 7:30. Dance floor space can be cramped. Be sure to take small steps. Live band. Parking is limited. Will definitely come again.

The food was great me and a couple of friends bought onion rings, jalapeño poppers and chicken tenders. The alcohol wasn’t too expensive but the only problem is when we paid we did not receive change back I was attended by three bartenders and not one returned the change. The only reason this place didn’t get rated [1 star] is because the women and the food.

I have been a regular of Cowboy Country for a few years. I celebrated my birthday there 3 years in a row, have been taking the lessons with Luis and Cindy and dancing with the wonderful Bobby(a regular and an awesome person) every chance I get. ;) I have taken my mom there, a group of friends from my dojo, bought many items from the gift shop, etc, etc. I took my friend who was visiting from Canada to CC on May 6th2015. Unfortunately the doorman didn’t let my friend in because he was wearing a tank top(it was a tank top with a flag of the USA). He said they didn’t allow men to wear tank tops. He didn’t offer any solution(there is a gift store inside and they sell t-shirts, that could have been a sale right there!), simply turned him around rudely. Right after that a man wearing a Cowboy Country t-shirt walked passed my friend and called him a «fagget» in front of the doorman who didn’t seem to mind. Now I know who this man is and he is not a employee of CC. He is a regular(the tall skinny man who is the worst 2 step dancer in all of history) and I have seen him often there. This comment was obviously not appreciated by my friend. Nor was the rudeness of the doorman. I was very embarrassed, shocked and disappointed with this incident and decided I couldn’t come to this place anymore, since I refuse to support a business that discriminates. I wrote to the manager but didn’t get any answer. Today, July 17th2015, I decided to go back and see if I could speak to someone. When I shared with Bobby why I hadn’t been there in months, he was surprised and thought it was wrong so he took me to the manager’s office. The manager was very annoyed with me and looked at me like I was a piece of poo. He interrupted me to let me know he had read and answered my email(I have received no answer and I checked the junk folder too). He was unapologetic and really didn’t care. He told me there was a policy about not wearing a tank top and that was it. So I asked him where was that policy written and why was his DJ(Gordie?) wearing a tank top right now if that was the case… he didn’t answer. He didn’t apologize, care, showed concern… nothing. He was rude, annoyed and uninterested in making sure such incident doesn’t happen again. So this is sad for me as CC has been my regular hang out place and I have made many friends there. But I can never go back knowing that they are homophobic and that the manager is one of the rudest man I have ever spoken too. If you decide to go, you should know that they discriminate against homosexuals and don’t have any kind of customer service.

This this is not a luxury place however it’s a great place if you’re interesting and learning country dancing. it’s great coming here with friends and learn country dancing. The people that come here range from 21 to 81 years old seriously its a nice crowd. It’s not like your typical night club it’s a serious place to really enjoy yourself country dancing. I guarantee that wll have a blast coming here. Please don’t take any friends that don’t like country dancing because that would ruin your night. The good thing is you would get some good exercise and lose some pounds and inches. Please forget Jenny Craig and start country dancing and see a transformation of your body take place. See you soon

I’ve only been here once, so keep that in mind before you read my review. I’ve always wanted to try a country place and a friend told me to come here, so on a Friday or Saturday night, I don’t remember, I went with my friend. $ 5 cover charge to get in(we came after 9), I have no idea how much drinks are, I rarely buy drinks at a nightclub/bar, they’re usually watered down and cost double the price of a bottle of vodka, so I can’t really help you there. However, there is a liqueur store in the same lot, so do what you must with that information. This place is pretty big and it had a nice size crowd of people, it seemed like everyone was having a good time. When I went, I didn’t see many people my age(20s), I saw mostly 30 – 40 year olds. This isn’t a very good place to find a one night stand if that’s your thing, I saw a lot of couples here. There are two dance floors, and I’d recommend you at least know one country dance before venturing on stage, but even if you have no clue what you’re doing, as long as you’re not playing human dominoes, no one is going to care, there might actually be someone who will help you. After about 10 minutes a live band started playing, which was cool, it added a lot of energy to the already energetic crowd. I like this place, however we did leave early, I admit I dragged my friend here(she’s not a country fan, and also didn’t really feel comfortable being the only Black person there), so we left. I do plan to return though! This place was fun and it’s strictly country, hence the name… and nice people, just watch out for that one opinionated drunk straggler in the parking lot when you leave.

Hmmmm what can I say about this place except hmmmm. I came here not of my own fruition but because of a friend’s birthday party. The parking lot is big which is a plus but that’s about the only positive. The bouncers at the door try to make awkward small talk while you take out your ID(cover change of 5 dollars after 7, if you leave don’t forget to get a hand stamp otherwise they will make you pay a cover charge again). Immediately upon entering this unexplainable stench of cigarettes, alcohol, cheap cologne and B.O. overtakes you. After a few long minutes you will adapt that’s when you start noticing the dirt. Every table in the whole place is dirty, the ceiling, the walls, the floors are all sticky. The bathrooms rival that of a rest stop. The only saving grace to the dirt is that is pretty dark and hazy so you’re likely to miss most of it. Our sever was very attentive but once again that’s where the positive comments end. Food is sold upstairs only and for cash only. The food is ok but you can’t really mess up Tyson chicken fingers and Orida fries. At least it’s cheap. Drinks are ok but a few of my friends complained that they weren’t strong enough and they were all ice. Now we get to the entertainment portion of my review they have a mechanical bull only on Fridays other times the area is a dance floor. The DJ is super into his job almost so that he drives people away, unless you’re a pro stay off the dance floor, he will make comments. There is nothing worse than having someone ruin your sillyness. I did have a lot of fun though but that’s only cause my friends are awesome haha.

Saddle up, Shawty! Yee-haw! Slip on the cowboy boots & cutoff jean shorts, it’s line dancing time! Cowboy Country Saloon is a honkytonk conveniently located in North Long Beach, across from Winco Foods. Drinks are flowin, toes are tappin & the Jello’s jiggling. Cowboy Country is open Wed, Fri & Sat 6pm — 2am. Those in the know arrive before 7pm for no cover, with $ 5 cover afterwards. Live music from various bands begins at 9pm. For those new to line dancing, there are workshops at 7pm &8pm for instruction on 2 dances. On my visit, we learned«Just Gettin Started» & «Funky Donkey». The instructor goes through a quick tutorial, but don’t be discouraged if it’s too fast paced for you. Just have fun with it & you’re guaranteed to have a good time. I’ve been taking line dancing classes for about a year, so I have a familiarity with the basic moves. However, there are some great dancers on display strutting their stuff. Man, I want to be able to dance like them. I wish I knew the steps to everything, because I don’t like being a wallflower. I did get to bust out«Just Dance», «Designated Drinker» & «Power Jam», among others. Oh well! I guess it’s an excuse to visit more often. And, with no cover before 7pm, why the heck not? A full bar & a kitchen offering the usual bar suspects like nachos are available. For those daring(or drunk) enough, a mechanical bull taunts you with a subliminal«Hey, stupid! You think you can ride me? Joo loose!!». At the time of this review, I haven’t slipped on my big boy pants & given the bull a whirl, yet. But, I will! And, I’ll turn that bull into a heifer, if you know what I’m sayin ;p The dance floor is a little cramped, but we managed just fine not to be hit by an errant elbow or buttock. The DJ kept things grooving, including my first attempts at 2-steppin. Free parking is available in front of Cowboy Country Saloon in their own private lot, along the street & across at Winco Foods. Good times are to be had at Cowboy Country Saloon. Low key & unpretentious, and that’s the way people like it. Can’t wait to come back for another night of dancing. Whatcha waitin for, pardner? Mosey on over to Cowboy Country Saloon for food, drinks, dancing & fun. If someone asks if you want to «Tush Push» with their«Achy Breaky Heart», just hope they were referring to dancing and not something else ;p Highly recommend!

So this is a place if you really really love line dancing and have a cowboy get up you’ve been itching to wear but realized you didn’t live in Texas. First of all, it is NOT in downtown Long Beach. It’s actually in the middle of some quiet streets which surprised me the most. They have a parking lot although it’s pretty full. cover is $ 5. Seems like security is sort of strict for people who are drunk. It’s pretty packed inside because there is a ton of dancing and people hanging out. Drinks are pretty cheap. $ 3 for a PBR. $ 7 for a Jack and Coke. As for the line at the bar. it was pretty long wait. Don’t be expecting super attractive bartenders. remember where you are. Still. the drinks are strong. Their food is pretty good but of course not healthy as you would expect. They had an upstairs that I wasn’t able to venture to. Just because it’s so far away. I don’t see myself going here a lot but it’s an experience.

Friday was my first time here. Not sure I’ll be back. I was sitting on a stool in the marked area by the bar when a server spilled drinks all over me. She offered no apology, nor did she even offer a towel or napkin. All she said was that that’s why I shouldn’t sit there and walked on by. I didn’t know what was even spilled on me and was concerned about staining. I asked her as she was ordering drinks at the bar and was told it shouldn’t stain. She never came by to see how I was doing even though other people kept asking me about it. I left shortly after this happened.
