This place is permanently closed. This was one place I tried my hardest to appreciate, but it consistently fell short after the departure of Chef Miguel. Inconsistent quality food, poor management, and terrible service brought about this downfall. I won’t miss this place one bit, and hopefully the next restaurant that replaces Christy’s will be much better. Hopefully it won’t be as ridiculously expensive.

OMGosh!!! Love this restaurant! Tomato Soup amazing, brussel sprouts delish, shrimp salad for dinner, perfection. They catered to my food allergys, Ani the waitress is adorable and friendly. She came back often. Already texted pictures to my kids. Super excited to have a restaurant walking distance! We will be back & tell our friends

Went for a special dinner… Arrived about 815 but no reservation. Pretty empty so we figured it was no big deal… right? Eye roll from host«well kitchen was about to close». Huh? It’s 815? We should have walked but the nostalgia told us the place could not have gotten that that bad. That quick? It is that bad. Rushed sloppy service so everybody could go home… confusing menu. Ordered a seafood pasta dish that was bland and boring and a sickening scallop dish with some weird mayo slaw… served on a hot plate. Scallops totally overdone. No bread No check ups. Just a kitchen and crew that doesn’t care anymore. I still like the bar here… But its just a matter of time before the lame assed mind set overtakes the whole place… blah!

This was one of my top meals during my recent trip to SoCal. First off, the bartender that took care of us for the night was quite lovely. She was very professional, funny, and very cute! We ordered some happy drinks which were excellent! I think I got some sort of fruity martini and those were only $ 5! For dinner, I ordered the Crab and Corn Tagliatelle and it was remarkable. They didn’t skimp on the crab and the sauce they made with the squid ink pasta was savory and complimented the sweet corn perfectly. They also made it look very pretty with flower petals too. My whole experience here was fantastic. I’m looking forward to stopping in again when I’m in the LBC and if I’m lucky, that bartender will be there too!

I had been to Christy’s a while ago and remember a very good meal so I was very excited to come back. Disappointed. The heirloom and burrata salad had bland tomatoes and the cheese tasted sour, plus it was stringy. I’ve had tomato salad before and usually they are flavorful — this was was… meh(at best). okay, maybe the main course will save the meal. I had the lobster fettuccine. The sauce was decent with a little fire but it also was nothing special. The lobster was tough. My friend had the cod and it was soup! The menu didn’t really describe it as soup. The only saving grace was the dessert; but it did not save the meal. Sorry Christy, I won’t be back.

Maybe it was an off night, but I can’t actually rate the food or drinks because I wasn’t serviced. I went with a couple friends to the bar on a Thursday around 8PM, and we waited for over 10 minutes, yet we received no service. It wasn’t very busy. The bartender had plenty of time to text on her phone right in front of us, and she even saw us sitting there. Still, she decided her texts were more important I guess.

Stay away! You’re welcome. Worst dinner ever. Service was terrible to the point of being laughable. I wanted to ask if any grown-ups were working that evening. The food was very uneven — some items were ok, others were very underwhelming.

What happened to the Christies I used to love? Service– satisfactory Drinks — so-so Food– flavorless The pumpkin ravioli portion was so small I literally counted five tiny flat pieces of ravioli. Needless to say I left hungry. Pure disappointment!

Hell yes to the happy hour. Gimme more Gimme more. I love walking to this place. I had dinner here once but we mostly happy hour it. Dinner was damn good, I mean real damn good and sexy date time too. Happy hour is great. The drink I can not remember at this moment has cucumber and pepper. Sounds gross? It’s not. I will drink so many of those because they are f ing fantastic. Is it 4pm yet?

The evening was incredible. Great service, food, dessert all until the owner came and asked us to leave our table for another patron waiting that had a medical condition. Christy offered a bottle of wine if we moved to the bar. I find that insulting since this was the first date I was able to go on and celebrate Valentines Day early without our children. I will not be recommending this business to anyone that enjoys service with their meal. For the record we were only at our table for an hour.

The Sunday brunch menu was bland. I had a seafood crêpe, which was A-OK. I also had a Smoky Bloody Mary, and this part of my meal was unfortunately extremely memorable. It tasted like they dumped a cup of salt in it. I actually think my drink might ACTUALLY have been a real anomaly though… because it literally tasted like someone accidentally spilled a bunch of salt in it.

I’m glad I didn’t make a bet with Sidney because I would have lost. I returned to Christy’s four months after my initial review and, unfortunately, didn’t leave with the same enthusiasm. As I perused the menu, I thought to myself«Either I’m getting really old and my memory is failing me(I didn’t see my coveted tuna appetizer) or they’ve changed the menu.» I asked our server if, in fact, they’d updated it and sure enough, new chef, new menu. At that point I still had hope. For an appetizer, I had the grilled octopus. It was good, and I was hopeful for the next course: cioppino. I’ve had some great cioppino in my life; this was not one of those times. Other than the mussels, there was very little seafood to be found and probably too much spaghetti. I would recommend that they use angel hair pasta and less of it for that dish. Also, the broth was just a little bit too spicy. Or perhaps I was simply overwhelmed by spiciness, as the octopus was also on the hot side. On a positive note, the service was great. So was the bread. I really, really want to like and support Christy’s, but the inconsistency in their menu is troubling.

Christy’s Ristorante has been open since 1993 and I have been fortunate to have dined here dozens of times, many Holidays, for nearly two decades. The memories are all pleasant but the dish that keeps me coming back is the«Rigatoni con carne» the Bono family’s secret recipe. This past summer(2013) there is a new look for the restaurant. A positive change to it’s business practices & management(Cori Cauble is outstanding as GM) and it’s menu, includes culinary cravings at a lower price point. Executive Chef Jason uses more sustainable, locally-grown ingredients in the kitchen, and has brillantly reinterpreted classics with boldness & bravery — try the blue cheese stuffed-dates wrapped with bacon or the brussels sprouts, sautéed to taste like candy! The restaurant features wall art created by a local artist as well as photographs of Long Beach copied from Historical Society archives. It’s a great spot to hang out with friends in the lounge or celebrate over dinner, as a a group. Another favorite of mine, fa bene! Reservations can be made on UrbanSpoon.

3rd review… went from 4 stars to 4 stars with an asterisk to 3 stars. The dish I like had two less shrimp, half as much proscuitto, and no parsley, despite it being listed as an ingredient. The waitress even argued with me, saying the parsley is only a garnish(which wasn’t the case the last 2 times). And the place is so loud it makes me anxious.

Great customer service! Quite dim inside. but eh oh well. I went with a group of 10 for my friend Christy’s birthday. Ironic right? Lol. Our waitress did a very good job of handling us all. She reminded me of Lo from Laguna Beach. Anyway. I’m just going to type what I got. I got the Lychee N’ Pear drank: Absolut Pear, Soho Lychee liquere, elderflower liquere, topped with ginger ale. $ 11 –Not yummy haha. Overly strong. Got the Gamberi Alla Carborana: I got chicken instead of their sauteed shrimp, crispy pancetta, fresh garlic, onions, artichoke hearts, & parsley tossed with spaghetti. Parmesan cheese, and white wine in a thickened egg yolk. $ 19 –It was definitely yummy. I inhaled everything up! Artichoke hearts were a little on the sour side. but still generally very good! They accidentally gave one of our friend’s meals to another table. so on the house, they provided him with a soup. and quickly brought out his meal. They also gave my friend a free brownie ice cream dessert for her birthday. It was delicious! Gooey warm chocolatey brownie, with yummy ice cream. The only thing that did bother me was that on the menu. it says that if you wanted to add chicken to an item. it was $ 4.00. On the check, it said $ 6.00. So my friend asked the waitress about it. and she said oh, we changed it. but the menus haven’t changed yet. so yeah it’s $ 6.00. A little lame. Kind of false advertising. oh well. Overall, a good experience. We all enjoyed our meals. :]

Apparently after a 3 – 4 year hiatus, Christy’s is back and they’ve been open again for a year now. I never knew it before, but it’s nice to know it’s here now. Three woman-folk at work invited me to join them for dinner on a GNO… Girls Night Out. **Red Flag Waving** Hold on a minute! I see a couple problems with this immediately. #1 I don’t exactly«fit in» because… well… the last time I checked, I have all the wrong plumbing to be considered a girl… and #2 Telling my friends and co-workers about having dinner at a nice restaurant on a «Girls Night Out»… well, I would N E V E R hear the end of it! I protest, but they manage to manage to sweet-talk me into going anyway(Shhhhh!). I arrive at the restaurant to find two of the three excitedly waving me over to the table. For beverages aside from water, three of us had wine had wine and one a Margarita SERVICE: Our server Kim was friendly, polite, helpful, overall pretty awesome! She gave us time when we needed it, but was also never far away. FOOD: For appetizers we ordered the Bacon Wrapped Dates, stuffed with manchego cheese($ 10) and the Sautéed Brussels sprouts with garlic, capers, pancetta and herbs in a white wine sauce($ 12) Both were VERY tasty! However, my favorite part was taking bread and sopping up the white wine sauce from the brussel sprouts, OMG it was frikkin awesome! Just give me a large bowl of that sauce and loaf of sliced, toasted bread and I’ll be as happy as a pig in sh*t! For entrees I chose the Gamberi Alla Carbonara: Sautéed shrimp, crispy pancetta(Yum!), garlic, onion, artichoke hearts in spaghetti, parmesan cheese and white wine in a thickened egg yolk($ 19) My friends ordered the Pumpkin Ravioli with a light butter-sage sauce, topped with ricotta and nutmeg($ 15) The Cioppino: Shrimp, scallops, calamari, salmon & mussels in a slightly spicy white wine lobster broth over angel hair pasta($ 22) And the Chicken Pesto, chicken breast, penne pasta, roasted tomatoes, creamy pesto sauce($ 15) I keep trying to find a Carbonara I really like. This one was quite tasty, but personally I would’ve been happier w/o the shrimp, though that crispy pancetta made up for it, YUM! I was also able to taste each of the other entrees and they were all VERY good too, however the ravioli was too sweet for me, more like a dessert then an entrée. OVERALL: For four first timers at Christy’s, we had a very enjoyable time, some great food and very good service! (BTW… Due to my protesting, the GNO is now called«KB Unilocal diners club dinner». Works for me!)

You made me do it, Christy’s. We are locals in the neighborhood and want to support this local establishment, but they are making it REALLY difficult to do so. First off, Devin the waitress and the short blonde haired bartender are great. We have had many a meal with the bartender and she’s good at what she does. This was our first night with Devin and she was super. Last night we went for Valentine’s Dinner. If any restaurant requires: 1) multi-course *AND* 2) mandatory 20% gratuity… they better have their sh*t together. Last night was the straw that broke the camel’s back. Last night was the 4th time… 4th different time… we’ve been here and had cold food. Unacceptable.(the two other times the sliders were literally cold as if they pre-made them and they were sitting around and they just tossed them on a warm bun or something. who knows) What’s more, they delivered my soup 4 minutes before my wife’s 1st course. When they delivered the soup, they didn’t clear my original plate. They just left it and put my soup to the side. Now I work there and have to do their table service for them? They also left our cocktail straws strewn on the table. No attention to detail. Then when the 2nd course came I felt like I was at Denny’s with the food delivered auctioning off the food, «Who had the gnocchi?» We were a table of 2 and I’d be shocked if this place doesn’t understand the concept of seat numbering. The gnocchi. The gnocchi was tough and chalky and DROWNED in a cheesy sort of sauce. Couldn’t eat it. Had to send it back. I was going to order the scallop dish that my wife had instead because Devin was kind enough to offer something else for my 2nd course. I would have, but the scallops were cold. Fail. So, I didn’t get a 2nd course. That’s really awesome when we are required to get 4 courses. So then our our entrees come. I had the pork. The potatoes and green beans were nice and warm and tasty. My pork, not warm. Fail. Finally, to top the evening off right, my wife received the wrong dessert. At that point we felt so guilty about bringing up all of the issues that she just ate it. It was good, but the reason she ordered her original desert was that it would pair with the wine she had. Fail. My wife is way more forgiving than I am. The topper was that a manager never came to our table. Ever. Don’t half step. Great place for tasty cocktails at the bar.

First off, we came in here with very high expectations. I first came to Christy’s back in high school when they opened back in the early 1990’s, and was happy to hear that they were reopening with the original owner. We made a reservation for 7:00pm about a month in advance with Open Table. We decided to come in early to have a drink in the bar so we got there at about 6:30. The bar is much bigger and they expanded it all the way to the back. The old Christy’s had a smaller bar with a lounge in the back which I enjoyed, so I was sad to see it gone. Anyway, it still looks good. The bartender took good care of us. Now, when we arrived, I informed the host when we got there that we had a reservation at 7 and that we will be at the bar. He said«No problem, we can seat you at any time.» So at 7, we came back and now we were told that there was a party of head of us. OK, so I don’t know what happened. So we end up standing there for 5 – 10 minutes until a table is ready. When we were finally seated, we were well taken care of by our server. I didn’t catch her name, but she was good. She didn’t rush us, but at the same time didn’t ignore us. When you go a nice place for dinner, there needs to be a good pace. We ordered the Australian Sea bass and the Ahi Tuna special. The tuna was a bit disappointing. We were told it was sushi grade, but it didn’t taste like it. The fish was very tough and chewy. The flavor was OK, but nothing to write home about. The Sea bass was much better. The portions were just right. Since it was my wife’s birthday, they gave us a brownie with ice cream with a raspberry purée. Delicious. One last thing is that we heard before coming in that the wine selection is very limited and pricey. The day before I called in to verify that they allow a corkage and they stated they did for a $ 10 charge. OK, no problem. Then we got the check and we were charged $ 12. So in the end, Christy’s didn’t quite meet our expectations. We may have to give them another chance, they did have an Italian Paella that looked good.

It was a Saturday night and the restaurant was slammed. We lucked out with some free space in the bar area. As a regular of Christy’s recently closed restaurant, Bono’s, I was happy to see a few items made it onto to their menu, and sad to see my favorite lobster and papaya salad didn’t make the cut. Reasonable prices for appetizers, full drink menu, super friendly service, and Christy was there stopping by tables to say hello and made sure everything was okay. I came with a group of friends so we had a good sampling of Christy’s menu. It took some time for the food to come out, but given the short time they have been open and the amount of customers, we waited patiently: Appetizers *Bacon wrapped dates(a crowd pleaser) *Fried calamari(could stand to add more to the portion) Dinner servings were good portions and great presentation, though I had mixed reviews on the the entrees. They all had decent flavor, but weren’t as spectular as they looked. *Chicken picatta(two chicken breasts) on a bed of rissotto with capers *Chicken Milanese(two chicken breasts) *Rib Eye Steak Always room for dessert: Winner — Chocolate Bundino with raspberries… this was quickly inhaled by the group. With all new starts, perhaps the kitchen will get back to the consistently amazing flavors that Christy’s old and Bono’s customers experienced. I will be back to try it again and hopefully with time, they will be up to 4 or 5 stars.
