We went for a tasting and were told the wine club was free, so we signed up. The wine is decent, but the wine club is a scam. We received a charge, and immediately called to cancel the club. NOONE answers the phone or emails or returns any of our multiple messages to cancel the club. We allowed the first charged and kept the shipment, but despite our multiple messages, they again charged our card… and did not even receive a shipment of wine the second time. We had to dispute the charge with our bank. Again, this happened last month for a third time… and no wine! We are again disputing the charge. They even called and left a message last week to say our card wouldn’t go through… it’s a miracle, their phone works! Thoroughly frustrating!

Peter Scott Fraser is making some really serious wines! And I mean — seriously good! Peter has been making great wine for a while: now he is exceeding that greatness — in my opinion, these wines are just superb! Taking considerable risk, he decided to try Sangiovese — a red Italian wine grape that is Italy’s best know grapes and is the basis for the humble Chianti and the more regal Brunello … There are 2 Sangiovese in Scott Cellars line-up: Sand Dune from White Hawk grapes Santa Barbara Country whereas the other Sangiovese is from West Slope Three Creeks Vineyard in Santa Ynez …(My opinion, the West Slope Sangiovese was lucious! Velvet smooth on the palate soft soft tannin with a nice finish with spice & chocoate notes jammy and dark: this wine is from Happy Canyon — get some — then you’ll get happier too! Worthwhile to mention the Cuvee Blanc Santa Barbara which is a blend of 89% Pinot Blanc and 11% Chardonnay — lovely lovely lovely! Check out Scott Cellars and talk to the fabulous and funny Peter Scott Fraser — his knowledge and vitality excudes confidence and a true joy doing work he loves.(Watch out! His enthusiasm will make YOU enthused!)

Fantastic wines, especially the Sangiovese, which Peter specializes in. My wife and I have been wine tasting for 15 years, and Scott Cellars is at the top or our list. On par with the best in the world, along side Napa, Sonoma, France, Italy and Croatia wines. Lompoc may not be the prettiest milieu, but definitely worth a stop in to see Peter. You won’t leave without a few bottles or a case. Cheers!

Super kind and knowledgable man with amazing wines. His blends are truly satisfying and they have a distinct flavor. I had to buy a bottle. Ran into other couples there on the wine getaway package as well– who all ranged different ages– and we all had a blast. Highly recommend !

I am in the wine industry so I get the chance to taste at a lot of tasting rooms. I have to say I always refer people from my tasting room to Scott Cellars. Peter the owner and winemaker is just great. He is so informative and a wonderful person to know. He educates people in a down to earth kind of way. I suggest allowing yourself sometime here because he always has a way of making you feel at home and you just lose tract of time. The wine is so good that I want to join his wine club even though I get a great industry discount without being a member. I recently dropped by on a wine pick up party day and enjoyed cheese pairing with the wines and got to meet his wife which is lovely and also very friendly. This is just a great place. Debra Watson

One of the best tasting rooms I’ve ever been to. My bf and I strolled in here one pleasant afternoon. Peter greeted us warmly and there was one other pair who were already tasting. It was a good really chill atmosphere, we were all just doing tastings and chilling out. Their wines were overall generally very good but the best was this amazing syrah with a piece of 71% chocolate. Peter was telling us that he’s tried with 70% chocolate and 72% chocolate as well but the 71% is the best one. I’ve never tasted anything like it, you melt the chocolate in your mouth and have a sip of wine, swirl it with the chocolate and then swallow. My bf and I got a bottle of that syrah and searched for the 71% chocolate(which is pretty hard to find by the way). Anyways, we will definitely be coming back here for this unique experience!

Yet another place that wasn’t technically open when I tasted there. Wondered in on a Monday afternoon when they weren’t open for tastings, but the owner welcomed us into the tasting room and took us through a full tasting. Very friendly and incredibly informative. I really enjoyed the wine… there wasn’t anything I disliked and there was a lot of stuff I loved. There was at least one good white wine, but what I really remember were the red wines and the fact that they had several years worth of at least a couple of varieties/blends… making for some very interesting vertical tastings. Definitely on my «must taste at» list when in Los Olivos and one of the reasons I think I prefer San Marcos Ave to Grand Ave.

The wines at Scott Cellars are amazing. Truly complex fruit, amazing blends, rich and flavorful. If you have the opportunity to visit while owner and wine-maker Peter is in the tasting room, consider yourself lucky! He is so passionate about what he does and he really makes your tasting experience memorable. We’ve already been 4 times, seen him there all but 1, and can’t wait to return. Our most recent visit included 2 white blends, which were actually pretty good, and 2 Sangioveses(which were compared side-by-side from 2 different zones of the same vineyard and were nothing alike, but both excellent!) The Syrah is also quite exceptional. So, for Pete’s sake, visit Scott Cellars and enjoy!!!

We’ve been to this tiny town on several drunken occasions and never stumbled off the main drag. After getting a free tasting for staying at the Hadsten House we ventured inside this nice place just one street over. The People were welcoming and told us to grab a glass and invited us to participate in a wine and cheese pairing. The wine and cheese pairing went together perfectly and we later found out that one of our pourers was the winemaker Peter himself! He was very funny, informative, and passionate about his wines! This was a lovely expierence and we will definitely be back to taste more of Peter’s wine.

Wow… what else can I say, absolutely wonderful experience! I came here during one of their events and tasted most of their wines. The Syrah 2008 Krow Shore was my favorite, they also have some pretty tasty white wines if you’re not into the reds. I will definitely return!

This is a great tasting room off the main Los Olivos drag. The owner, Peter, is very welcoming and has great stories about his journey to wine making and about each vintage. His Cuvee J(named after his wife) is one of my favorites. Also, there are nice clean bathrooms in this shopping center that are a secret jewel amongst the others full of tourists on Sideways tour buses, so don’t tell anyone.

A must top on the wine tour, Peter is the coolest guy ever. The puts the science into wine making. Thanks for making the exception on sunday for us for the Pino for my sister, and I still would have helped bring in the cases from the curb. See you in Jan

Coolest wine maker I have met. Peter the wine maker is the guy pouring the wines, so this clued me into his passion. Then after my first visit with my wife he gave us nicknames I am «Science» she is «Art». I am a computer engineer and she has an art degree… he did not know this when the nicknames were dolled out. He remembered our nicknames the next time we came in maybe a month later. He also hides neat things in his labels, especially Krow Shore… no spoilers from me but its a fun one! His dedication is so evident, see him, talk to him, and drink his wines and I dare you to call me a liar!

Always a «must-stop» whenever I’m in Los Olivos. Getting to know the winemaker over the years has really allowed me to see the progress of his craftsmanship and dedication to producing quality juice! Peter has a zeal for life and his work, and those lucky enough to drink his wines are the direct benefactors. Very small production(~1500 cases/year) but very big impact. The Pinot Gris and the Sangiovese are two of my favorites, although the Cuvee JP is a serious contender. Looking forward to my next visit!

After endless trips to Santa Barbara and Los Olivos for wine tasting Scotts remains the standout tasting room. The first time I visited Scott’s it had just opened days prior and the store was still being put in order, but that hasn’t kept me from coming back many times. Winemaker/owner Peter has always been there when I visited, not only meeting his tasting customers but often pouring tastes himself accompanied by his wife and mother. There is nothing better then hearing about wine straight from the maker. Unlike many tasting rooms that just set you up at a counter to get tastes Scott’s typical has stations around their tasting room likely accompanied by some sort of small snack/treat to go with certain wines. Scott’s wine club has been a delight to be a member of. Their wine always arrives promptly, in pristine condition with excellent drinking and pairing instructions. When one of my boxes was mistakenly sent to our an old address(I had updated just a moment to late for the shipment), Scott’s resent happily free of charge. Make sure to visit Scott’s on your next visit — it is a true stand out in the area.

Of the 4 tastings we did in Los Olivos, our favourite and unparalleled standout was Scott’s. The proprietor(not the owner) manning the tastings that day was exceptionally informative and helpful, speaking to us about the wines, the winery; giving some gentle and friendly instruction since most of the girls in my group were novices. Although the tasting room was pretty busy with different parties, he always managed to take care of us… We particularly loved the tastings that compared 2 vintages of the same grapes. We tasted a couple of Syrahs made from grapes from Black Oak vineyard — exactly the same 2 rows of grapes — for 2005(an El Nino year) and 2007(a typical year). Most versed in wine know that weather can affect terroir and ultimately taste — a wet year means vines that don’t have to work as hard on their grapes; a typical(hot and dry) year means more powerfully concentrated sugars and flavours. He instructed us to swirl, both, sniff and taste. The difference was utterly remarkable. I *had* to have the 2007. The tasting was a mere $ 7 for 8 – 10(lost count after a while?) pours, including a couple that compared different years.

What a delight! We were greeted at the door by the fantastic owner of Scott Cellars. We had our two little ones with us and never know how tasting rooms will welcome us. To our delight most of the tasting rooms were great here! Especially here! With smiles and stories about the owner expecting, we were so happy this place was recommended by another winery. Scott Cellars makes wines just like we like them, bold, full bodies, rich in tannins, and spicy! We were so pleased with all the reds. I learned more about the chemisty of wine making here than any other place I have been. And let me tell you, I am an international tasting room traveler. Mr Scott, I can’t remember his first name… I think it was Peter… hmm…, was so funny and enthusiastic. I could have stayed here all day and made a new friend. It is so wonderful when you experience joy, friendliness, laughter, education, and fine wine all in one tasting room. So I give this place 5 stars and am thankful it is here. I need to return! We only visited 6 tasting rooms!
