I really want to give this place a 3.5 but Lindsay was cool so I rounded to 4 instead of 3. The temperature of the whites was off which was kind of off putting. They definitely need to be chilled. They had a 50% off deal for a case of Rose so we bought one but couldn’t try it so fingers crossed that it’s good. The tasting menu(the regular one) doesn’t really do justice to the array of wines that they have. I suggest upgrading to taste the Oregon wines. It would be awesome if the expanded the tasting list to 6 wines so the customer can get a better understanding of depth of the list and then give the option to upgrade to 8 for the enhanced tasting.

Fun place for a tasting in the Lompoc wine ghetto. The wines are well made and tasty. The tasting room is small and has an intimate feel. We were warmly hosted and enjoyed a generous tasting. The fee is $ 15 per person and it is easy to share a tasting as the pours are big enough for two. Worth the visit.

This tasting room allows you to sit but is a tight space. Very educated person running the tasting and willing to share her expertise. This is some serious wine at some higher prices, but these guys are experts at the chemistry of wine, so prices are probably accurate. Big flavors are your playground here.

In town for a wedding and we wanted to get to the wine ghetto. We arrived late and it was luck of the draw we picked this winery. Man are we glad we did. We were fortunate to have Kathy do our tastings and the Pinot noir was awesome. Getting the back story and tasting different years of the same wine was great. We left and had four bottles shipped home to our own great wine country in Loudoun, VA. Give this place a try it has some of the nicest Pinot noir I have had

Loved the wine and the lady serving us was very nice — my only complaints here — are the small tasting room(we had a group of 6 and there were already 4 people there when we arrived so it was a very tight fit) — I also found it too be kind of cold and drab inside(but that is more of a personal preference thing) — Other than enjoyed stooping by and will be back

Amazing wine and amazing people. Great Sauvignon Blanc and Pinots that shouldn’t be missed.

Kathy Joesph is old school, as in, don’t wait for something to be done for her, make it happen. She found the St. Rita valley. Saw the potential, started making great wines there and turned it into a AVR. Her wines are wonderful. This Sideways(featured Sauv Blanc) and her fab Fiddle Pink Rose and her 728 Pinot. Fantastic. We’re fans. We always have a few bottles around and are never shy to whip out with friends. Go up and take a tour. The are open on weekends but do appointments during the week. So worth it.

I went to their tasting room on the Lompoc wine trail over Memorial Day weekend. I really wanted to try their Sauvignon Blanc and was not disappointed. The gal working behind the counter was very friendly; she recommended a nice coffee house for us to get a snack at in Lompoc. I will go back to this tasting room again and I will purchase their Sauvignon Blanc again.

The wines were OK, but I have had better in the area. The reason for the two stars is the fact that: 1) the tasting fee was not posted anywhere, including on the tasting list, and more importantly, 2) in all the years I have frequented tasting rooms, this was the first time my tasting fee was not applied to the purchase I made, which in this case was rather sizeable considering what I purchased.

Out of all the tasting rooms in the Lompoc Wine Ghetto, this place had one of the best pinot noirs! I even bought a bottle to bring home, the 2008 Fiddletsix.

Great little find. The Wine Ghetto leaves a lot to be desired as far as location goes, but it’s a fun place to try some great wines. Fiddlehead is a winner. Their Sauvignon Blanc was remarkable. Probably one of the best I have ever had. The pinot’s were hit and miss, and by saying that I mean they go from very good to excellent. However the Oregon Pinot’s were stellar. Too bad the wine club does not offer a deeper discount. Oh and the MOST important part of the tasting experience of any winery passed with flying colors. Our host was welcoming, gracious and knowledgeable. I do not care how good the wine is, it’s the host that makes or breaks the experience.

Fantastic wines. Smaller tasting room that can get a bit crowded but the wine pourer was attentive. Some of the best pinot noirs in the«Ghetto».

What a find! Located in the wine ghetto area of Lompoc, this tasting & production room is really nice. The staff is really friendly, and explains things in a simple, easily absorbed manner with zero pretence. I was there with my parents, and they were really patient with them, as they don’t frequent a lot of wineries, and the experience can be intimidating. Plus…they have great snacks! On the day we were there there was hummus with pita, and chips & salsa. Much better than a random cracker you usually get! I walked away with a tremendous sauvignon blanc, a rose, and a fantstic pinot noir. Can’t wait to go back.

Quaint tasting room located in the wine ghetto. Service was very friendly. We enjoyed all of the wines and the great stories that came along with them.

OH. MY. LORD. A taste of their ’07 Oregon Pinot Noir — Oldsville Reserve made me crave a delicious, BLOODY as hell slab of meat.(Yep, I like my steak served still mooing. Rawr!) Located in the Lompoc Wine Ghetto, Fiddlehead specializes in Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir grape varietals. Tasting fee is $ 10. If you NEED to visit one winery in Lompoc, ITISTHISONE. WINNER! Minus a star because they don’t refund the tasting fee when you purchase a bottle. Shouldn’t that be standard practice? Boo.

The best Pinot Noir I’ve had– hands down. I wanted to go back for a second round after my tasting. I’ve been there twice and for the whole year in between the visits I couldn’t find another wine to match the Fiddlestix or Lollapalooza. Amazing.

This is an excellent winery – no doubt. Their sauvignon blanc is fantastic. I’ve ordered this online from them before, and it was sold out at the tasting room. This review is based more on the value of trekking out to their tasting room in Lompoc. I have tasted at the Lompoc tasting room twice, and I had some disappointment on my second visit. My recommendation would be that you only make the trip out to Lompoc when they’re having a special library tasting event on wine festival days or other specially designated days. Check their website to see when those are, or get on their mailing list. My first visit was on a wine festival day, and the food served and the selection of past library wines was awesome. I bought a bottle of one of their Willamette Valley, Oregon selections, and I drank one and am still cellaring another, and it’s no doubt that their WV wines are superior to their Santa Ynez grown wines. The bottle I drank was terrific. On my second visit I was disappointed that they only had one WV bottle on the tasting list, and it was fairly expensive — $ 88.00 — and not an aged library wine. So would I make my way out here again? You have to be a real oenophile to come to Lompoc to the Wine Ghetto to taste in an industrial park. Let’s just say only on a wine festival day when they’re offering some food goodies as well.

Wine Trip Part 2
Just like the other reviewers say. Fiddlehead is a Gem of the industry. Just another Woman Wine maker! Yeah! I will say it again they rule the wine world. Kathy Joseph has a knack for getting beautiful aromas from her vineyard. All of her wines show the characteristic that are so famous from the Santa Rite Appellations. I was most impressed though with her Willamette Valley Pinot. It was tasting very good that day. Beautiful forest floor, Bing cherry, coca cola aromas. Very silky on the pallet with a nice lingering finish. Of course it is the wonderful Sauvignon Blanc that I fell in love with so many years ago. All 3 were tasting great this day. I walked away with a few bottles of the Sauvignon Blanc and 2 Pinots and 1 Late Harvest that my wifey loves so much. Give them a Try if you are ever in the«Wine Ghetto» Cheers

Siimply put, Fiddlehead Cellars is what makes the Santa Rita and Santa Inez areas one of the outstanding producers in the region. Depth and Character are the terms I use when describing the selection of wines from Fiddlehead. We wondered what makes their wine special? It is the fact that the owner is passionate about what she does, and truly is a person happy in her work.
