The scones are amazing. Love this little mom and pop shop. I first found out about them at the Farmer’s market and my parents and I have been fans for maybe 10 years now. Always delicious and great quality.

Reviewing just the Dutch Apple pie that I picked up at the Redondo Beach Farmer’s Market today. I asked the sales person what was the best way to warm up the dessert, and she seemed either uncertain or dismissive — 350, 375, a few minutes — alright, no big deal. So we popped it in the oven at 375 for maybe ten minutes, just enough to warm it up. That was when we started questioning the pie’s topping. I thought Dutch Apple was supposed to have streusel on top? Then I thought, oh, it’s melted cheddar! Love cheddar on apple pie. But we couldn’t identify it. It was greasy like melted cheese, tangy like sour cream, and had a distinct taste of plastic and aluminum(presumably from the packaging). Disconcerting, to say the least. Scraped that white mystery off to the side and went for the apples. These had a nice firm texture, but again, the aluminum taste. Overpowering. The crust was crumbly(in a good way) but… Aluminum. We each had a bite or two and threw the rest in the trash. Very, very disappointing.

I had the apple cobbler I bought at the farmers market and it was a gross, slimy mess. The apple was slimy with an off-puting texture. I wonder if this is how they get rid of the stuff they dont sell during the week ar the deli. Stay away.

This review is for a seasonal item, their fruitcake. It is awesome, the best I’ve ever had. I’m not a fruitcake aficionado, but thanks to my dad who has to have a fruitcake every Christmas I’ve eaten a lot of them and most have been gross. I’ve mail ordered them from all over the world and they all suck in comparison to this little bakery’s delicious, tasty moist cake, yes it actually tastes like a cake, not a fruit log!

Went here right at 10 when it opened today. I bought a cinnamon roll, small dutch apple pie and some coconut macaroons. The price was pretty good(maybe slightly higher than grocery store prices). However, the cinnamon roll and the apple pie didn’t taste very fresh. Only reason I didn’t give this a two was because the macaroons were pretty good. Nothing to write home about but not bad. Now there are some of you who might say«But Ben, you came in to early and they haven’t had time to make the freshest stuff for you.» To that I say you jest good sir/madame. When it opens should be the best time to come in. If that is the case maybe they should come in earlier to bake?

Someone said that this is the best secret on Narbonne. Well, maybe it is the best secret of local Farmer’s Markets, because they don’t keep much of what is reviewed here in the store. I have been twice — once in the late morning(around 11) and once before 8am — and they have had no croissants, cinnamon rolls, or anything that look remotely like that. You could get scones and cookies but none of the bread that is so well reviewed. They are open from 6AM to 3PM, Monday through Saturday. But, I wouldn’t come to the store — they are not likely to have what you are looking for. Plus, I made a special trip to Palos Verdes Farmer’s Market to try the«goods»(they are also at the Torrance Farmer’s Market). The cinnamon roll($ 1.50) looked underwhelming — all dough and no icing. So, I went with a croissant. They were out of plain, so I had an almond croissant($ 2.50). It was HUGE, but it was underwhelming(definitely not worth a special trip). It is soft rather than flaky and rolled like a spiral with a little dust from chopped sliced almonds that were rolled in(i.e., the almond flavor is not very strong). Plus, the saran wrap was pretty gnarly — needed to let it sit out to get that taste off of the pastry. I am afraid that I still must go up to LA for good croissants.(FYI: the«restaurant» is long gone.)

I have been to the Torrance Farmers’ Market and St. Moritz sells some of the breads there as well. I have gotten their scones and 3-grain bread from there and it is all amazing! The scones are so soft and fluffy and the flavors are the best! The prices are great too! The bread was very good and made my sandwiches that much better. I have gone to the bakery and it smells of fresh baked goods and makes me want to go back for more! :)

Had gotten their scones from the Torrance Farmers Market and LOVED them. Such an amazing taste and really light and fluffy. So cheap also! Their bread and pies are also so delicious. Now stop at the actually bakery now and again to get the scones since am obsessed with them. Best scones ever!

This bakery is so good! I’ve come here several times when I’ve had that sweet tooth during the day! Also, I’ve seen their booth at the farmers market at Wilson park. Their banana bread is so light and flavorful. Also, their protein bars are awesome. Eat one before a workout and it’ll keep the energy going! So many good pastries. It’s a must try!

I go to the Farmers Market to buy their baked goods and I always get their oat bran muffin. It is UNBELIEVABLY good, super moist, sweetened with honey and I end up finishing it in five bites… not because it’s small, but because I’m awesome, hungry in the morning and its DELICIOUS! Nonetheless, get yourself one and try some of their other stuff. You won’t be disappointed.

I visited the Torrance Farmer’s Market today for the first time and had one of the«Danish» style cinnamon rolls from the St. Moritz bakery booth. It was probably THE best cinnamon roll I’ve tasted since Billy Baker’s in San Pedro closed in 2006, and they had the best cinnamon rolls I’d ever tasted! And I’m a baker, so that’s saying a lot! I can’t wait to try the regular cinnamon rolls(they’d run out) and maybe one of the gynormous croissants!

I bought a loaf of sourdough, a french baguette, and a couple of croissant from the Encino Farmers Market this past sunday, and the household has already eaten most of it all up! So delicious, and the best part is that it is so fresh and no preservatives added! I will be going back next week — I got there too late for the chocolate croissant! Thank you for providing such a non-toxic delicious product!

I’ve only had their pies from the Torrance Farmer’s Market, so can’t comment on the actual shop. But I will have to say their pies are AMAZING. I’ve had the pumpkin, pecan, and the blueberry cobbler. Absolutely delicious. Makes for a great lil office gift too.

Hubby and I came here after hearing about it from my sister who frequents the bakery. We came on a Friday evening and had no problem finding seating. The place is casual and an extension of the bakery(as other Unilocalers may have mentioned). The couple that runs this bakery/restaurant are extremely friendly and makes the atmosphere so much more comfortable. Here’s the caveat however. Since they do EVERYTHING fresh(and I mean they MAKE their own pasta — no Barilla here!) and only use the freshest ingredients, there might be items on the menu that are not available when you go. For example, my hubby wanted the eggplan pasta. They didn’t have eggplant so they offered other veggie substitutes. The dish still came out delish. I had their pizza and let me say, it was amazing! It might have been called the stagiano. It had artichokes, ham, olives, and maybe peppers. They’re very generous with their toppings and the flavors were bright! Their crust is delicious — but they’re bakers right? You wouldn’t expect anything less. The owner mentioned that they get a good lunch crowd coming in for sandwiches(which I hear are delicious). Their dinner times are a little spotty so you may want to call before heading over.

This place is incredible!!! I had the very best pastrami sandwich I’ve ever eaten in the South Bay! Their bread is baked fresh daily in the bakery next door, and the pastrami was super yum! I found my new restaurant/deli down here… Also — their freshly baked goods are fresh, contain no preservatives, and are super tasty! The prices are incredible — no need to ever go to the supermarket for bread and treats… Go to St. Moritz — you will NOTBEDISAPPOINTED!!! I GIVETHEM5STARSPLUS!!!

Just returned from St. Moritz Restaurant and the pizza is still warm in the box… though we suspect it will be gone in a few hours. Yes, it’s just as good as the first visit(why don’t I go more often??). This time, we got: — Salad — The mixed salad is real Italian salad — y’know with the olives, cucumbers, vine-ripe/farmers’ market tomatoes and a mint(?)/cilantro(?) taste that’s a juicy combination of sweet/sour/savory. — Pizza — We got the pepperoni for the kid and the«can’t remember the Italian name» one for ourselves which had prosciutto, olives, artichoke and red bell peppers. The crust is SOGOOD! It’s thin, but not wafer-y and not overcooked so it’s like eating a cracker(sorry Eat-alian). But it’s light and fluffy with just enough chewiness. I’m doing it no justice, but it’s fresh, light and makes me forget momentarily that I’m trying to cut down on the carbs. –Lasagna al forno — yes, I finally ordered it! And it did not disappoint. Guys, this is not your 2″ high Olive Garden lasagna with regular tomato/pasta sauce. No friends, this was super-fresh noodles(messily/artfully) layered with creamy tomato bechamel cheese… and with veal(ftw)! We were in Northern Italy a few years ago and this reminded me of the kind of dish one would get there. Creamy nutty goodness! — Gelato — of course the kiddo wanted it and it was a good thing he didn’t want to share… dark chocolate and light chocolate(with a hint of almond). Go for the hand-crafted real food. If you’re going to have carbs, you might as well have the best!
