Marker’s position on map here on Unilocal is wrong(EDIT: I’ve just submitted correction to Unilocal, hopefully they’ll accept it). This Charley’s is located within Yorktown mall — once you get to food court you’ll see it right away, as it’s located near the escalator. While I completely agree with other reviewers here — I’ll be less stingy with the stars because there is simply no reason to be negative about this business. You get a huge, freshly grilled subs for around $ 9. I mean, look at the picture I’ve uploaded ;) So, if you haven’t already — give yourself a favor and try Charley’s… I’m sure you’ll be pleasantly surprised.

We stopped here for lunch and decided to give it a try. The food was good. A little better than what we expected. We all had the Philly cheesesteak subs. The food is prepared right in front if you kind of like a Subway but your food is being cooked on the grill in front of you. The ingredients are very good and fresh. We were very pleased to see fresh cheese(thick cut too) being used on what so many other food establishments claim to be cheese steak. The fries were made right when we ordered and were hot and fresh. I love French fries that have the skins on them. They were frozen but still very good. The food was ready in less than 5 minutes and you wouldn’t ever believe it was prepared that quickly when you eat it. They also have three(3) size subs. Small is 6″, regular is 9″ and large is 12″. Great to have the choices if you’re a little hungrier than a 6″, but not so much as a large. This is the first time trying a Charly’s…not sure if it’s a chain or just a mall food court location but I’d definitely get it again.

Charley’s should have a lot going for it. The ingredients are stored where you can see them, they’re fresh, and they cook the sandwich right in front of you. Somehow, it manages to be less than the sum of it’s parts. The meat seems to be a little unseasoned, and the bun is relatively flavorless. Veggies were surprisingly tasteless, although free giardiniera is provided to give a flavor boost. Fries were quite good, though, and they provide malt vinegar on the side. They sell a strawberry lemonade whose sweetness is five notches above anything Snapple sells. Avoid.

Not bad for food court fare. It won’t be confused for a REAL Philly cheese steak, but the fries are the best in the court. Served in a nice cup too.
