This is, by far, the best Pencil Sharpener museum I have ever had the pleasure of touring…(hey, what do you want for a free attraction hiding behind the visitor’s center??) Seriously, worth the 10 minutes it takes to look around. The very nature of it will put a huge smile on your face. It’s fun, it’s goofy, it filled us with joy.

Located at the Hocking Hills Welcome Center in a shed, this little gem is worth a peek! My boyfriend and I were about to get back on the road after picking up a few maps, but decided to look inside. I’m glad we did! Hundreds and hundreds of… you guessed it, pencil sharpeners! You won’t see this anywhere else, make sure you take a look.

You tell me where you’ll find a bigger pencil sharpener museum than this one! Nowhere! Seriously, it is a cool place to stop by and it is right on the same grounds as the Hocking Hills Welcome Center just off US-33 and on Route 664. Take the extra 10 – 15 minutes to stop by here and see all the cool sharpeners you never knew existed. They’re organized by category and the categories are all over the map. Cartoon characters. Zodiac signs. Skateboards. Airplanes. Spaceships. Cats. Dogs. It’s all here! BTW — it’s free :-) Stay sharp! Be sharp!

The literal definition of this museum is: a shed on the side of the road filled with old pencil sharpeners. A better description is: Behold, a glorious haven! A pencil sharpener sanctuary with no rival for size or awe. Come visitors; come marvel upon it. I stumbled upon this gem on my trip to the Hocking Hills visitor center. It would have been easy to miss, but thankfully, the staff at the visitor’s center directed my attention. Artfully displayed, the collection boasts what seems like a lifelong passion for the obscure. The vast array of colors, styles, and mechanisms will send your mind reeling. I highly recommend stopping in. It’s totally free and something you will never see anywhere else.
