Ok. Took my wife wine tasting for the first time. Pondl was one of the last vineyards we visited and by far the best. David was just so friendly and personable. All of the wines were wonderful. My wife even liked some of the reds. Normally she only drinks whites. I really liked the whites. Normally I drink reds. But the biggest hit was spending time with David. It was just so wonderful spending time with a proprietor and not just a hired employee.

What a fantastic experience. It’s nice to say it is a common experience in Lodi to visit a small family run operation with great personal service. David did the pouring, one of the co-owners, and couldn’t have been friendlier and more knowledgable and helpful. All the wine is great — very approachable. The wine is not too overpowering like you will find sometimes. We picked out a Viognier, which was on sale(actually bought 2 bottles), and a bottle of the Tempranillo. David said they only crush around a ton of grapes for each of their wines, and they crush the grapes right behind where we were tasting. Also loved the stories about the pictures of the labels on the wall. Great place. Can’t wait to drink what I bought so I’ll have to go back!

Love it! The wine was lovely(lots of unique flavors in the usual varietals choices, especially the dessert wines) and the winemaker himself was pouring so he explained so much we wouldn’t have known, plus he was good company. We got there one minute to closing and he took his time with us — we never felt rushed. And the music was fun! Highly recommend it.

This winery is picturesque and the wines are well worth tasting. The tasting room is in a very cute purple barn. Outside there are places to sit and relax, while enjoying your wine. Owners David and Pat clearly have a love for what they are creating, and listening to their process was interesting. This is what wine tasting should be!

This is a adorable cozy little winery with SO much heart and so much personality! My husband and I went to probably 10 – 12 Lodi wineries and Pondl was the only one that stole my heart. David was warm and charismatic! I felt welcomed and appreciated. There was absolutely NO pretension at Pondl which some other places do put off. Even my husband who is rather introverted opened up a little to the warmth of this winery. I can’t wait to go back and I wish that every single business I walked into had a person like David(I didn’t meet anyone else, I’m sure they are equally lovely) to greet you and make you feel like family.

It was a smaller establishment than expected but large in experience. We drove up to the cute little spot and felt glad the 6 O’clock closing time afforded us one last stop. The moment we stepped in to the tasting room the fun began. All of a sudden we struck up an invigorating conversation and continued on as we tasted some superb wine and tasty little jams on a pretzel stick. David is a cool cat with lots of energy and passion for the fruit of the vine. We left with a smile and plenty of wine in my arms. The Rose’ will be a permanent addition to our wine inventory. I can’t wait to get back to our SoCal nest and pop a bottle in the fridge to enjoy with my gal by the fire. Come enjoy Patrick and David and their wine and you won’t regret.

LOVED my 1st(not last) visit on Sunday 8÷31÷14. My boyfriend and I made this our last stop on our way back to Tracy after a nice day of tasting. We had been at Jessie’s Grove and asked about Pondl as we had driven past it on our way to Jessie’s. The cool chick said that we should definitely stop in for a tasting. I like that they suggested we stop– it goes to show support throughout the winery world and I like the positively and comradery. So away we went and as we pulled up(after making sure they were open and that we weren’t walking in at closing) we were greeted in the parking lot by David. He took us inside where he gave us the rundown of what we would be tasting and as we talked, he told us the story of how Pondl came to be and walked us around to the pictures on the wall and shared the stories of the people. What an awesome story– I’m not going to tell it to you as you need to have it told from the source. The wines were good w/my favorite being their Merlot although everything tasted great. We had such a great time and felt like we made friends as David and Patrick were so much fun. I felt like I could hang out all day just talking and drinking wine with them. I hope to visit again soon!

This small winery had a great tasting room. The owner David was so fun and charismatic and shared stories about the naming of the wines along with all the details about the wine. He had the room laughing and made it feel like one group vs several smaller groups. We stopped on a whim– we had already gone to 4 tastings and at the last second before heading out of town decided to pop in. The reason I mention that is because our pallets were probably a little shot at that point but we liked the wine. I am enjoying a glass of the Rose as I write this review. Its totally worth the stop in.

My wife & I have been going to PONDL Winery since it opened. We met Patrick & David and instantly felt like we were at home. They are both very friendly and informative. Patrick is the winemaker and has an extrerme amount of knowledge of wines. He will explain everything you want to know. We are members of the Wine CLub(Speakeasy Club). They have some very great wiines that compare with & even outshine some of the other locals. We are also members of a few other Wineries Clubs. They put on some very nice events here and they really make it a lot of fun. I highly recommend this winers to anyone that is looking for something a little different that will make you feel good when you experience it.

Really cool, small winery! Great variety of wines… I bought a port and a Barbera. David, the owner was really sweet and I really enjoyed that they were open Mondays. Extra bonus that they provided pretzels and dip. Cause who doesn’t love a small snack while sipping?!

I just visited Pondl Winery today and it was amazing. The two men that work there created a great wine tasting experience for me and my friends first tasting. Out of all the wineries me and my friends went to to today I would recommend this one as a must. My favorite there was the 2010 Zinfandel. Its a very laid back environment.

Ok guys this doesn’t look like much from the outside but I love this place. The wine is excellent. The two men that own it are great and their wines are really good for how«new» they are. People talk down at Roses, but their Pinup wine is sooo delicious. Try it, promise tonight disappoint.

We visited this winery last Sunday afternoon while out for a drive. It was a very cutsie place with two very friendly owners. They are very welcoming and make you feel right at home. We bought a bottle of their chardonnay even though we are red wine drinkers… very light and refreshing!

Pondl has been only been opened since March 16, 2012; that’s what the owners shared w/us. David is very enthusiastic and welcoming. We really liked their Chardonnay, very crisp and refreshing. A nice stop in Lodi.

Pondl is a new boutique winery in Lodi. My girlfriend and I stopped by Pondl this last Sunday and absolutely loved it. The customer service was excellent. David our pourer was so much fun. He was very talkative about their wines and how they got their start along with a bunch of other topics. David was friendly, informative and funny, the wines were great. Tasting was $ 5 which was waived because I purchased a bottle of Merlot. I’m looking forward to my next visit to Pondl. 5 stars for this awesome boutique winery.

A very tasty new winery on the fringes of Lodi. A nice little stop when you are looking for somewhere new to try.
