Good burgers, not my favorite. The buns are plain. The Atari fries are decent but could use more flavor. It’s a good budget friendly stop if you are staying at the Marriot in Lihue Bay. You can walk here and save yourself a lot of money vs eating anywhere on the Marriot property. They also have a nice little shaved ice stand here. The breakfast sandwiches are also decent.

Best Loco Moco we had on the island. Great food, great prices. Super casual outdoor picnic table dining, walk up ordering.

We stopped here for breakfast on our way to drop off our friends at the airport — we went home the following day. This place has a good view on the 2nd floor! The table was a bit sticky. I had the regular breakfast — scrambled eggs, potatoes, bacon, and a smoothie. Everything was good! My hubby had the loco moco(he’d never had one before) and he said it was OK, but sort-of weird. My friend got the pancakes and said they were great! I liked my smoothie even though it tasted a lot like POG with some ice thrown in. :) This is a good-priced breakfast spot in expensive Kauai!

Great burgers and beer batter fries. Wife got an awesome POG shaved ice with an ice cream center for desert. Service was very friendly and fun with authentic Hawaiian local grinds.

Easily ones of the best burgers I’ve even eaten, anywhere. The taro bun was fantastic, highly recommend trying it! The regular fries were delicious, we’ll have to come back for shave ice and taro fries.

Very friendly staff and casual beach hut burger fare. Very tasty burgers and a water view from the crows nest. I wouldn’t recommend the taro fries as they were grey and without much taste.

What a great way to begin and end a Kauai vacation. Loco moco is delicious! Catch of the day sandwich and taro fries very tasty. This is a great find! Parking is tight and no table service. You order at counter and eat at counter or upstairs! Food is inexpensive! Great friendly service!

Tasty, cheap breakfast. If you want something simple and filling for cheap. Check this place out. Nothing fancy-burgers, eggs, pancakes– but the prices are much more reasonable than anything else around. Counter service and outdoor seating.

Great anytime of day. Breakfast, lunch, cheap dinner. Very convenient to Marriott, kalapaki beach. Great loco moco, pineapple burger.

Our first meal on the island, and it was a hit! We had a large group and were somewhat amazed that the food all came out relatively quickly, all at once, and all still hot! Great fish sandwiches, burgers, and fish n chips. The sauce with the taro fries was a stand-out! After the savory stuff we ordered a couple shave ices. I am a serious shave ice lover, and Kalapaki Beach Hut makes the best Hawaiian style I had anywhere on the island.

I ate at a lot of different places on Kauai. And to be honest, some of the highest help rated restaurants were mediocre at best. The converse is true here. The Ultimate Kauai Guidebook is misled as far this awesome place to eat is concerned. I try to go to Kauai twice a year. And I plan on making this place my main place to eat(I like staying in Lihue). Best burgers on the island hands down. Best breakfast as well. There is usually a wait, but its worth it. Taro fries are good, but split them with somebody. Regular fries are better. If you want to be served and have a huge table for your family to spread out on, this is not the place for you. This DOESNOTMEAN that you can’t go there with your family, it’s just not a freaking Olive Garden. You can feed everybody in your group for a little more than what McDonalds would cost and get 10000% better quality food. Pog juice is awesome. Best loco moco on the island. This is for super hungry and/or hangover breakfast. Or a big lunch that will stick with you for hours and keep you energized and full. There are badass lizards and chickens to kick it with while you wait!

So far this is the best Loco Moco I’ve had on the island, and I’ve ordered it 6 different times in a week(it’s safe to say I have a bit of a Loco Moco obsession). Now– the other stuff. We show up at 11:20am stoked on breakfast and their breakfast options look incredibly enticing… I mean… Portuguese Sweet Bread French Toast!!! YESPLEASE! But… Breakfast was over??? At 11:20am? Really?!? Then they add that you can get the breakfast sandwich and the Loco Moco all day(two items which are on their breakfast menu)… Okay. Clearly I get the Loco Moco, Ryan gets the breakfast sandwich… He manages to finish it in about 4 minutes. It looks delicious but it’s tiny. So he ends up having to go back and order ANOTHER one and adds and extra egg to it. So sadly enough my meal was delicious but we were disappointed with: a) the fact that there’s no breakfast at 11:20am And b) the size of the portions Otherwise we really enjoyed it. The gals working there are wonderful and sweet, prices are reasonable, you get your order fast, and the quality of the food is great. Just wish they had larger portions and that they were more flexible on breakfast times.

My husband & I spent a week in Kauai on our honeymoon, and I’d say we probably averaged a meal a day here at Kalapaki Beach Hut. We ate here *several* times. And not just for the convenience — the food is really good! They have great burgers, & my husband swears by their Loco Moco.(In fact, I think that’s the only thing he actually tried there.) I was a big fan of their burgers. The Kauai Burger and the Aloha Classic were my favorites, and I enjoyed both their regular fries & the Taro Fries. I’d say that the Taro Fries are an acquired taste, but I enjoyed them nonetheless. They just tasted like very dense, earthy fries. The Kalapaki Breakfast(with fried eggs, bacon, & breakfast potatoes!) is also really good and will fill you up for a day of adventures on the island. I could have probably eaten that breakfast every single day. And while my husband did not limit the Loco Moco to breakfast only, I do believe that was its original intention hahah. If they ask, get it with the eggs fried — delish! Kalapaki Beach Hut is within walking distance of the Marriott, and it’s more reasonably priced than the restaurants at the resort. And since food tends to be on the expensive side in Kauai, this is a great place to try out! The Hut itself is pretty small, but there is an upstairs eating area complete with a couple booths, a great view of the bay, and a speaker system — so you know when your food is ready! This is such a great place and I’m glad we were able to have several of our meals at that cute little Hut!

We actually came here for the promise of shave ice, but they’re run by two different sets of people, and that side of the counter didn’t open until later in the day. We got portuguese sausage breakfast sandwiches and they were just perfect. Seriously, I’m craving one right now. I wouldn’t recommend the taro fries, though. It’s a neat idea, but in reality it just doesn’t work. They’re too thick, so they can’t crisp up properly like normal fries. The texture and taste are like eating damp cardboard. :(But seriously, the breakfast sandwich was amazing. Go there just for that!!!

Came for the FOOD and left in a good MOOD! Ok, so I can be a wacko for loco moco! It’s the best blend of breakfast and lunch all piled on a plate, with a beef patty, sunny side egg, brown gravy and two scoops of rice. Thinking about it makes me hungry! Flavors and taste were on point especially since we had just finished a round of golf it was the perfect brunch. Prices are reasonable, staff was welcoming and establishment felt homey and kick back. Seating is limited and offered on a first come first serve basis. Big Fan and I’ll be back again.

Thanks to the previous reviewers… this was a great choice for breakfast. We stayed at the Marriott and this place is just a short stroll away. Great food at great prices. The first day, my husband got the Loco Moco with cheese, onions and mushrooms. I got the mushroom omelette — both were great. The second time we went, I had to get the Loco Moco, too, because my husband didn’t get full on just the 1(I swear he has a tapeworm!!) We sat upstairs with a view of Kalapaki Bay on one side and some of the mountains on the other. This is also close to where the cruise ship comes in, so if you are tired of the cruise food, this is a great diversion. Total price both times we came for 2 breakfast plates and 2 drinks was $ 28. Can’t beat it! The

Cool little local spot. Above average food at a good price. We ordered the blue cheese burger and fish and chips. Both were good. The blue cheese burger was smothered with blue cheese, which I like. The fish was cooked well. The batter to fish ratio was good… Some places put too much batter on but this place did a good job. We would come back due to the quality and price point and would recommend to others.

Was headed the airport, couldn’t find any breakfast spots open and so we came here. Nice spot, by the beach, shares the same parking lot as Kalapaki beach(which by the way, is a great beach with a sandy beach and some good waves that can be fun to swim in). Open air style eating. You order at the front, and you can sit on the first floor bar or the second floor eating area. Got the fresh catch sandwich and the teriyaki burger. I don’t have much to say about both. They are both good, but not«blow your mind away» awesome. It’s probably taste much better after a long day at the beach, not so much if you need a quick bite before going back to the mainland… So take this review with a grain of sand. Could have been having early kauai withdrawals. Plus, it was raining. :(
