6:25pm arrived to find them closing, no food. 7:00 advertised closing. I get ‘island time’ but they are an established brick and mortar shop with established hours, not a good truck/shack. Can’t be trusted.

Two Words: Vegetarian Menu Being a vegetarian, I always have a hard time finding places to eat at where my meal doesn’t consist of just side dishes. A great thing about Deli and Bread is their accommodation for vegetarians. Just gimme the avocado sammy, vegetable soup and an iced tea and I’m a happy boy.

For as many staff as there is behind the line, and no one in line, why am I waiting so long for a simple Lobsta Roll. I could’ve made the bread myself by now.

Absolutely love the food here. Come here everytime we are in Kauai. Best tuna salad sandwich on the island. Great sandwiches and soups. Located in the mall. Busy place. Order at desk. Don’t be in a hurry. Service not too friendly but that’s okay.

Wow! I’ve been to Kauai every month for the past three years and just now discovered this hidden gem! The lobster roll came highly recommended so I stopped in to try it and ohmigosh it was soooo good! I think I have to go back tomorrow for more! Yummy! There wasn’t a long line when I went but it did take a while to get my sandwich. Make sure you’re not in a rush when you come here or just call in your order ahead of time.

My sister and I wanted to pick up a something quick to bring to the airport — so we thought why not some sandwiches(& it’s about 5 – 10 min from the airport). We walked in and there were maybe about 2 – 3 people waiting in line to order but we soon noticed that almost everybody sitting at a table or standing around are all waiting for their orders. We looked at each other and thought man — this is not gonna be good. We waited about 30 minutes for our sandwiches… it was crazy. I ordered the club & my sister ordered the lobster roll… mine was just okay but her lobster roll was very tasty! We were both stuffed by the time we boarded the plane so I guess it did its job haha

Let’s start with the good… The food is pretty good. Their fresh breads are fluffy and to die for, especially their sourdough bread. It’s soft and not hard like your typical sourdough. I got the pastrami sandwich w/sour dough bread with a side of clam chowder. It was a good sized portion and the clam chowder was similar to pier 39 just like how the other reviews stated. I would love to get their chowder again and maybe try their T.O.P.S. Now the bad… Customer service… I understand we are all human but seriously? A day before pickup, we placed an order for multiple bread items to get before my flight. They grabbed the usual name and number info and told me to come after 4 pm for pickup. The next day… We came around 5:30 pm and the front counter had no idea of the order. They said they had no record until someone from the back came out and said they found it and couldn’t fulfill the order because one person was a no show. No sorry. Frustrated they would have limited bread items on display which they made that day, when they couldn’t even fulfill an order. Sad.

If you are a lobster roll enthusiast, may I suggest you find this place quick. Hot lobster roll dipped in the clam chowder, hmmmmm. Find this place next to Macy’s in Kukui Grove. Takes a bit long to get your order, but that’s because they’re putting together a masterpiece. They have breadbowls for you clam chowder and breadbowl foodies too. The meal I got was with lobster roll, small clam chowder, two soft slices of bread and an Arizona Green Tea. Half way through dipping and my lobster roll into the chowder and feeding my fat face, I started to get full. It was disappointing because I truly wanted to finish the entire thing. I failed, I only finished half and a third of the other half of my roll before I began to eat the insides only. I made sure to finish the chowder as it was only a small one anyway. I enjoyed the large chucks of lobster in the roll as well as the mix of whatever else was in there. It looked like imitation crab but I could be wrong. Whatever it was, it hit the spot. I’d definitely bring my family here if we visit Kauai again. We were lucky this time because we were the only ones there.

This is my first time trying this place out while visiting the island. The girl cashier who took our order clearly does not like her job and does not want to work here. We ordered 2 subs take out and being our first time there we did not the drill. She said dressing… I don’t know the choices… did not know there was sheet that we should answer off from. The cashier was just rude. Not even a thank you after I paid. Food is ok. Will not recommend this place since there is also other location with better service.

The lobster sandwich tasted fresh and delicious. For lobster they gave just enough, and eating it with their clam chowder was a perfect match. My only complaint is that they need a better method if distributing your order when it’s ready, esp during a rush period of customers. Other than that the food was awesome!

Just stand in that damn line cause their sandwiches are definitely worth standing in line for! Yes, Deli and Bread Connection is FAMOUS for having a line that goes out the front door, but there’s a reason everyone just waits in line. Plus, the line actually moves pretty darn quick… and the food wait is rather reasonable. Since Kukui Grove was right across the street from where I was«working/studying/learning» during my one week stay in Kauai, I was excited to give Deli & Bread a try. My friend and I heard rad reviews from the locals, and the Unilocal reviews were great too! Since we wanted to try both, we shared the Lobsta’ Roll and the Bread Bowl(filled with clam chowder). My oh my, oh my. It was the best lunch out of my entire trip. Let’s just say I absolutely loathe onions, but I couldn’t stop eating this sandwich, although it had onions in it. The chunks of lobster, with hot Swiss cheese and mushrooms… and the onions, I guess… meshed together so well, and the homemade bread was the perfect texture. I actually wish we just went back to Deli and Bread every day, instead of trying new places. The clam chowder was nice and hot, with perfect flavor! This was especially good in a sourdough bowl, which I used to scoop out every last drop of soup. Ugh… I REALLY wish we went back every day for lunch! So many other sandwiches I was eyeing out! Not that I regret at all, the places we went to lunch, Deli and Bread is just THAT good! You have to, have to try Deli and Bread. It’s probably the best dining place in the shopping mall, and possibly the best lunch place in all of Kauai. P. S. They also have free Wi-Fi, as long as you have the password… which I forgot… but I think is the name of one of their sandwiches.

Great Sandwich Place! Everything is delicious and worth the 20 minute wait! I had their lobster roll twice and it was packed with lobster! Lots of lobster chunks with pieces of mushrooms n onions! The price of $ 9 is not bad either! Clam chowder in a sourdough bowl is comparable to the SF ones!!!

I have to say I was a little disappointed with this place. Perhaps I just had too high expectations. The first time we tried to go we got there at 6:15 since it says they close at 7. Apparently their kitchen closes at 6. And the kitchen closes for soups at 615… Okay… We gave it another shot and I must say their sandwiches were no more than mediocre. There wasn’t anything really special about them and I ate them when I was starving so that says something. It was something I easily could have made at home for a portion of the cost. I also got a chowder bowl for later. The chowder was basically the kind straight out of the can. The only added bonus was the sourdough bread bowl. If that’s the case I might as well buy it myself. Considering they have decent reviews I expected something at least a little above average. Or perhaps I’m just spoiled food wise. Either way it was nothing spectacular in my opinion.

Two words: Lobsta’ Roll! If you like loster, butter and cheese, you will love their Lobsta’ Roll. It’s warm with a good amount of lobster chunks and some mushrooms on a buttered roll with ooey gooey cheese that stretched out with almost every bite I took. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. I can’t tell you about the other sandwiches because I didn’t have nor do I desire anything else they serve after having the Lobsta’ Roll. This little restaurant is located in the Kukui Grove Center, in the corner right next to Macy’s. They have a good amount of tables and the customer service was good. I wouldn’t call it fast food because I didn’t have to wait a while for my food but it was worth the wait. They have a nice variety of sandwiches on their menu and also sell donuts from Daylight Donuts. The next time I visit Kauai, I will definitely make a stop at the Deli & Bread Connection to get my Lobsta’ Roll fix!

Dropped by for lunch and the place just smelled delicious. My girlfriend ordered a roast beef and cranberry sandwich and I ordered a veggie burger. Yummy! The veggie burger had lots of great ingredients and the bun was soft and tasty. I’d say it was perfect! Will go again and again. Best bread I’ve had in years!

Tried the lobster roll and it was tasty! The bread was soft and it has cheese, mushrooms, red onions and pieces of celery. The place is located in Kukui Grove and it’s small with no frills. It took a little long for them to make the sandwich even though there was only one order before us. I’d get this again if I was in the mood for a lobster roll and try the clam chowder next time.

Deli & Bread Connection is a loved sandwich shop by locals and tourist alike. They have a variety of warm and cold deli sandwiches, soup in a cup or bread bowl, sides to round out your meal, and fresh bread to take home. For cold sandwiches the T.O.P.S.S. sandwich is fresh and tasty with turkey and a vinegary tang from the veggies; the Chicado features house made chicken salad with avocado, veggies, and cheese; or the classic BLT. For a warm sandwich, I’ve tried the Lobsta Roll, which is not a typical lobster roll. The bread is heavy, the lobster salad tastes like the ocean, and it’s toasted off with sautéed mushrooms and melted cheese – very hearty and filling. To accompany the sandwiches, they have soups, cookies, chips, and potato salad. The bread makes the Chowder Bread Bowl, the fresh sourdough is addictive, the chowder itself is medium bodied and has clams and dill. The Potato Salad is Slavic-style with pickles, carrots and peas. For a sweet ending, they have fresh cake and yeast donuts from Daylight Donuts(same owners). The Maple, Blueberry, and Chocolate are yummy, though the texture of the donuts is on the heavier side. Deli & Bread Connection elevates the humble lunch sandwich and puts it back in the spotlight. Make sure to call in a take out during peak hours to avoid a long wait and enjoy!

Located in Kukui Grove Center next to Macy’s, Deli & Bread Connection exclusively serves up sandwiches, and soooo delicious are they too! My favorite? The Lobsta Roll. Sweet and delicious real lobster meat(I think also mixed with some crab), gooey Swiss cheese, grilled mushrooms and red onions, all in a perfectly toasted hoagie, made to order, and completely and utterly delicious. So rich and divine, I could eat only half and be full until dinner. But why stop there? Although I seemed to be the only one in our party of 5 obsessed with this sandwich(we came here for all the lunches we ate on Kauai), my coworkers also raved over their Philly Cheese steak sandwich and various«cold» sandwiches piled high with tons of fresh veggies! Their clam chowder is also a winner, and an obvious favorite among both regular patrons and visitors like us. The rich and flavorful soup comes with a small slice of bread to supplement. I will always want to come here, everytime in Kauai!!!
