So, I’m looking for a DVR or PVR system for my home entertainment needs. I head to the local BestBuy(Hamburg, Lexington) thinking I can research my options and get the help of someone knowledgeable to guide me in my ignorance. I was wrong. I entered the store and was going to ask the greater where to look for the Tivos but he was preoccupied with another person so I wandered in the direction of the televisions. I bumped into someone who pointed me in the right direction and said he would have someone to help me in a moment. I headed to the general area and wondered until someone offered assistance. When I asked where the Tivos were he gave me a blank stare and said he didn’t know, he didn’t think they had them. He looked around and said nope, don’t have ‘em. I knew he was wrong so I asked the greeter if I could speak to a manager. Told the manager what happened, she took me directly to the devices and apologized for the situation. Okay, I found the Tivo, still don’t have anyone to answer my questions or tell me my options. *THATISWHAT I CAMEHEREFOR!* Hell, if I didn’t need assistance I’d have bought online. Is it any wonder that brick and mortar stores are hurting? I give up!

I upgraded my Sprint phone through the Hamburg Pavilion Store and bought my first computer because I had heard good things, and my first experience was flawless. I got an iPhone 5s for $ 120, and my dad got his phone for free. Instantly we were sold. Why would we go anywhere else? Over the course of the year I had come in a few times to ask questions and look at new technology. September this year my beloved iPhone went kaput. I took it into the Apple Store and consulted with three people over the course of 4 hours. My final consultant clasped her hands after taking a look at the interior and said«Well, we don’t know what’s wrong with it, it just doesn’t work anymore.» She then proceeded to try and sell me a new phone at retail price. I decided to leave and consult my favorite guys at Best Buy. After waiting about 45 minutes, I then sat down with Chris! Chris took my phone to the Geek Squad counter and came back less than a minute later. He told me that there was a prong in the charger port was bent, and could not be fixed. I was so upset! He then told me I could buy a new iPhone 5s for $ 250. At any given point I do not have $ 250 to blow on a luxury. So I asked him what my other options were and he told me about the Sprint Lease Plan with iPhone forever. That was the only other option presented to me, and so this is the one I went with. I am a Sprint Loyalty customer so my lease payment was only going to be $ 10 a month. I signed the paper work eager to get my phone turned on, I work for a small business and need to have means of communication 24⁄7. Fast forward to yesterday(12/14/2015). My boyfriend cracked the screen on his phone and took it into a local repair shop owned by a few family friends. I asked him to take my phone in as well and have them do a free estimate. The guy there cleaned out the charger port and plugged it in to charge. That was it. It was fixed. And he didn’t charge anything for it because it was such a «simple and easy fix.» Fast forward to today(12/15/2015). I went into my store to see what I could do. I spoke with John who really did try to help me… Except he made it worse. He let it slip that I had Geek Squad insurance on my iPhone 5s which would have made the cost of replacing it only $ 150. Not only did the amazing experts at the Geek Squad counter completely fail to fix an extremely easy fix, they misdiagnosed it all together. And to throw salt into my wounds, Chris took advantage of my situation. I spoke with John for about 30 minutes and I truly do feel mad about being so upset, but he did not give me any answer. That’s was I spoke with a manager(Jenny, maybe?). She then told me they could buy my 5s and give me about $ 115 for it. Or they could give me a free phone case. After she told me that I realized I was not going to get anywhere with these people. I then asked about iPhone forever, this wonderful program Chris talked me into signing up for. I got my phone right before the 6s and the 6s Plus came out. I was having a shitty experience at one of my favorite stores so I figured why not get a new phone. I was then told I had to have my phone for a year before I could get the newest iPhone. Something that I was never told upon signing up for the program. Something that isn’t true actually. Sprints website: «Trade in your iPhone 6s and lease a new iPhone when it becomes available.» AND«You can upgrade anytime the newest iPhone is released.» So today, I left with a lot of false information and a $ 40 phone case. I have worked in a lot of customer service jobs and I can honestly say I have never seen, given or received worse customer service than I did today.

In my opinion this is the best one in Lexington. I’ve always been able to find what I was looking for.

Ok now it is time to finally review my spot! Best Buy! I love this place! I spend quite a bit of time at this location! I am a techno person who loves gadgets and they have them all! The customer service is top notch. If they see you checking out something, they always ask how they can help you! I like that I don’t have to track down a tech to get some questions answered. But if I don’t have any questions, they let you know where they will be if you change your mind. I buy all my technology here! Most times I know what I want and have done some research on products, but their people usually know their stuff! If they aren’t familiar with a particular item, there is typically someone there who they will find in order to make sure all your questions are answered. I also LOVE the geek squad. While I am very technologically savvy, I hate dealing with viruses and such. I just will bring every PC in for a tech to work on. I have also had some other complicated issues that they have worked out for me. It is a must to get their tech support on any computer you buy. It covers three devices, even if you didn’t purchase it at Best Buy. The geek squad team is A-1. I will say that they have always been a great crew at Best Buy. And while I am an Elite Plus member, it is because they have what I need and the customer service is right on top! I will say that I have had one bad experience here, but not enough to warrant a bad review, if you feel as though you have had a bad experience, just do as I did and report it to a manager and they will handle it! Because I believe in customer service, I know what I expect as a customer, and I am not afraid to let it be known! The manager assisted me and also gave me a 50% off coupon for any phone accessories(since that is what I was in search of) but for the time I have been shopping here(which is since it has opened) this was the only instance I was not happy, but again, I will not dock any stars, I just allowed the manager to do his job and I have not had any issues before or since.

This place is good for buying DVDs, CDs and assorted electronic stuff. I bought my cell phone here. They were very helpful when I had a problem with it. I’ve never used Geek Squad so I can’t comment on that.
