There are times in life when you go into a place and the atmosphere is so welcoming, the service so amazing, the food so. succulent thay you imagine buying the nail place next door turning it into an apartment and living there just to eat at the place next door. … this was the opposite of that. This was the place you want to buy, find someone who does nails, open up a nail salon and forget that this place ever pretended to be a restaurant where«food» is «served»… 6 people in the place besides us and the 5 employees. Nice ratio. I’m sure your labor cost is efficient. I will buy that place when you file chapter 7. Bank on it. Bye

Sister and I stopped in here for shiggles(we used to go to boll weevil a lot growing up, basically went for nostalgic reasons). I remember the burgers being a lot better, fresher. Not the best burger you could get, but a solid burger. The burger I was served was obviously fresh out of the freezer, and just kinda on the gross side. Restaurant wasn’t busy, and service was abominable. Don’t know if it’s just this location, or if the quality has just gone down all around.

I’ve been in San, Diego a long time. Use to love this place and have gone to many throughout SD. I will say this is one of the worst I’ve been to. The waitress didn’t want to be working. I overheard her tell someone else she shouldn’t be there today, that she was filling in. The food was gross. Burgers tasted fresh out of freezer and blah. Will stick to the Lakeside one.

I had the giant burger, forget the name of it but there was a pound or two of beef. A bit on the greasy side, which I like, it was fantastic and reasonably priced. A nice, simple place to take a small group.

Boll Weevil! I lived in San Diego for over 30 years and remember when these restaurants were all over town. Now there are only two left. Visiting here for a week and stopped at BW, Lemon Grove today. We loved it. They still have the best burgers in town, let you pile on your own toppings and have a combo ff/onion ring sides called firings. I’ve, eaten at burger lounge, in and out, 5guys, etc. and none of them are better than Boll Weevil.

Back around three years ago this was a great place to have a real good home made burger. The food was great, the service was friendly and most of all it was affordable. Okay this wasn’t the fanciest place and they didn’t have elk, kangaroo or rabbit what they did have was a good affordable burger. Then I guess they had a new owner come in and change things up. They started to nickel and dime you for sauces and just about everything else. That’s too bad because I really loved Boll Weevil I think I may go back to see what it’s like but we’ll see.

The lady who served was very nice. However the food is horrible. Ordered the chicken wings and they were still frozen in the middle. They took them back and must of microwaved them because they came back steamed in the middle and soggy. The burgers are over priced for basic frozen parties and the tomato was literally cut as thin as paper. Everything they serve is frozen mass supplied food that they are basically frying or heating up. I really could not of been more disappointed. They could have at least taken the wings off the bill.

5 stars for the food, Good was excellent. The buns were soft, meat delicious, fries and onion rings fried to perfection. As silly as it sounds, even the soda was good. Not flat or too carbonated. 4 stars because the Boll Weevil staff at the Lemon Grove restaurant could be a lot cleaner. I pulled a high chair from the stack of high chairs they had in the corner and the high chairs were disgusting, full of food particles on the seats and sticky on the arm rests. Also, the carpet was dirty and tables looked dirty too. I think a little more regular cleaning would go a long way. Please do that, it would be so much more appetizing. 0 stars for this dumb machine they have on the floor that was busting out tiny gumball sized rubber balls. I thought you had to put 50 cents in the machine and crank the knob but my kids kept coming back with rubber balls that that particular machine kept spitting out. That is such a choking hazard for toddlers and even older kids up to age 10. If any child puts those rubber balls in their mouths they will choke. I can’t believe they’d risk that potential lawsuit. Boll Weevil get rid of that darn machine!!!

All american type lunch, not a bad place to grab lunch. Not at all a fancy or nice place but a burger is a burger.

Started off w watered down lemonade, and a weird taste to the marinara for the mozzarella sticks(served on Styrofoam plates dining in). Ordered the bacon guacamole cheeseburger. One other couple sat down after us and was served first. The guacamole was obviously from a container and was already browning. Fries were too soft and onion rings were generic over all did NOT like this place which sucks because I grew up on boll weevils. Its no where near the same as it used to be. Dissatisfied and disappointing

I remember this place being so much better than it is. My server Cindy was great. I can imagine this place being a good place for a diverse budget friendly group. I ordered my children the pulled pork sandwich and it was moist and served with a side of barbecue sauce which had a smoky flavor. I liked this sandwich better than my blue cheese burger! The blue cheese can sometimes be flavorless at less inexpensive restaurants but that was not the case here. I think the problem is the meat needs to be seasoned. My husband and I agree we would’ve been better at five guys and it would’ve been cheaper too!

Classic American food served here and it is decent. Nothing out of the ordinary when it came to taste but it was good and I’d go back if I wanted a good non fast food burger and didn’t want to go far.

I like what they’ve done with the place. Prices are good and we can bring the whole family. We appreciated hospitable the service, made for a fun night out with the kids and no cooking for this mama !

Want a good burger while your kiddos play a few arcade games and spend a fortune trying to win a teddy bear or some candy? Go here. The burgers are pretty good and it’s always nice to have a pitcher of beer while watching the game. I noticed recently that their menu is a lot smaller than it used to be, but hey, no complaints, what they have is good. It’s nothing fancy, but it’ll do.

This place is just HORRIBLE!!! I ordered delivery and to start they forgot my order of fries. I called in and the lady argued with me and said that it was not on the order.(As im looking at my order WITH my order of fries on it). Finally she said she will send some when the driver comes back. I also ordered a burger and asked for it medium, when i took a bite it was more than medium. Hard dry and no flavor at all! No mayo nothing! The fries… ohh i never knew someone could mess up making fries but i was soooo wrong! The fries were stale old and hard and they got stuck in my teeth! Like how tf does that happen!!! Wth?!! Anyways… this place is just NASTY! I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone!

Meh. Nothing special. We were the only ones in there until we were just about done with our meals. Half is a restaurant the other is like a bar with pool tables n whatnot, this was my first time so I wasn’t impressed. I like Islands better. The people that came in put on some crappy rap music that you could barely understand which ruined the nice quiet dinner we were having. It was my first and probably last time, not that the burger wasn’t good, just not my kinda burger joint. Sorry guys.

I came to Boll Weevil to try their Patty Melt.( ) I was very excited because I am a big fan of these melts. I ordered the half pound one and a side order of onion rings. The Patty Melt cost $ 6.99 and the onion rings cost $ 3.69. My disappointment is two par. First, the half pound patty was over cooked and dry. I literally had to drink water after each bite to swallow it. To add to my disappointment, the onions, on the melt, that are suppose to be thoroughly cooked were not. About half were properly cooked and the other half were still raw.( ) Overall, the patty melt did not put a smile on my face. I piled on some wet pickles and black pepper to make it more appealing. The onions rings were descent, but they need some seasoning. They were crispy and had real whole onions inside.( ) When I politely told my server, to tell the cook to watch the temp, when he cooks the patties because mine came out came out real dry, all she said was, «oh, it was dry?» «That was to bad» and she walked away. Then when I told the manger, as I was paying my bill at the register the same thing politely, she said; «you should of ordered medium rare.» After that response, I just stood there staring at her with a look on my face that clearly expressed; really? That is your answer. Um fellow Unilocalers, please understand, I was just trying to be constructive with them in a polite way, but the message to me personally, is that they did not really care about what I had to say nor feel. At any event, I paid my bill and got the heck out of there. Will not return here…
