Giant

Today was my first visit to a Giant, I’m sold. Great selection, great prices, great service. I’ll be back.

This store is a hot mess — always dirty and always solicitors out front. Meat department is always slim selections and they wont cut anything for you. Fish department smells terrible. Ok for a quick run in, but that’s about it.

I have been going to this Giant for about 3 years. While there are fancier supermarkets out there, this place has good service and great selection. The lady in the floral department always does a great job. The gentleman who collects carts in the parking lot is SO FRIENDLY, and has helped me load groceries in my car on several occasions. The folks working in the meat and dish department are always helpful. The store always has what I need, from fresh veggies and fruits to specialty baby items and toiletries, and kitchen gadgets. My only suggestion would be to open more checkout lanes staffed by an associate (i.e. NOT self-​checkout). Overall a very pleasant place to shop.

The Pharmacy in this Giant is incredible. They are fast, helpful, and knowledgable. They quickly deal with questions with doctors and insurance companies and are 100% customer focused. Also, their automatic refill system is amazing. You should be going here over any pharmacies in the area. I don’t know their names, but cheers to all the pharmacists and other employees at Giant! You make being sick a little bit easier.

As soon as Wegman’s opens in the fall I hope to never go to this Giant again. Ever ever. Sure as a grocery store it’s ok,
If it wasn’t right around the corner I’d probably never go now, but the convenience of it trumps the fact that I really dislike this location. Here’s a few reasons why:
–The staff are always sort of grumpy. Now, I understand perhaps working in the grocery was not their chosen or favorite profession, but an occasional smile and/​or helpful tone would be nice. The florist however is always good.
–There are ALWAYS fundraisers outside the store. Now, I don’t mind it every few weekends, or even every week if they’re not parked in such a way that there is no way to enter or exit the store without having to walk THROUGH their set up. I’ve even seen days where there are TWO set ups outside of different organizations. Now I’m a giving woman, but it is WAY overdone here.
I know, perhaps not enough reasons for two stars, but with the amount of frustration these two points give me, I had to give them an extra star just because they carry food!
