This store is SWEET! Like a candy store. how to choose just one little fabric roll? There’s no way! I do needlework, cross stitch, some basic quilt projects, and such and such. And I go to Joann’s, and Quilter’s Station. I’m a VIP Joann’s card member, but they drive me nuts. I love Joann’s. but I can’t stand it in other ways. So, Fabric Recycles enters my life. People donate their unused needlework things, for store credit. They sell the fabric in their store. For a fraction what I’d pay at Joann’s, I got fabric for a Halloween stocking, and a red project bag. I bought an appliqué quilt pattern book, and cording I needed. I bought just the right amount of Warm and Natural Quilt Batting. It’s such a cool concept. I could spend an hour in this store. They are color coordinated, with vintage patterns and aida cloth, and yarn. I am smitten. I still go to Joann’s for things like certain Pellon products. Or the quilt shop for that one fabric, don’t get me wrong, but Fabric Recycles, I love it. They’ve been there for 2 years(why haven’t I seen them? Must be further south on 291 than I normally go.) Worth the drive if quilt or do needlework. It’s a weekly stop for me now.

I finally had the chance to visit this store today. It was like a trip to my seamstress and crafting mother’s basement. I found exactly what I needed and more. Orange yarn for a project. The materials in the store come from the stash of other quiltets, seamstresses, knittets, and crafters. It’s great place for inspiration and the prices cannot be beat. What I like best is the philosophy of waste not want not… it is recycled and repourposed. The yarn I bought is new and discontinued… sweet!

I love the concept of this place. Fabric is so overpriced at places like JoAnn and sometimes I buy fabric and end up not using it or changing my mind and I’m just stuck with it. Not anymore. I do wish the fabric could be arranged by type to make it easier to find. I generally come looking for fabric with a project in mind that needs a specific kind of fabric. Because it’s consignment, I see why it makes more sense for them to arrange by color. It’s arranged very neatly too. The place was is more than just fabric. Machines, notions, books and patterns. The patterns were the real treasure here. Mostly because I love old patterns. There were plenty to be found. I was hoping for more vintage fabric, but it’s not like they can help what people bring in. I’ll be going back for sure.
