Yesterday our daughter gave birth to a beautiful baby boy. Every staff member that we had contact with and the services provided by them was first rate. The down side to yesterday was the condition of the family/friends waiting room/lobby. Yes, it was a Sunday, but this is no reason for the areas not being tended to by someone on the staff. We were there all day and the trash never got emptied in the waiting room or the lobby. The trash can in the room itself was overflowing by the time our extended family moved from the lobby into the waiting room late in the day. The trash can in the men’s room located off to the right from the entrance lobby was also full until sometime in the afternoon. The second thing we didn’t like was the open stair design that let dirt and dust from people’s shoes filter down on those of us sitting in the lobby area adjacent to the elevators and outside of the actual waiting room. The open design was probably chosen to allow more light into the waiting area but it is a dirty place to have to sit if the waiting room is actually full, which it was for most of the day. The areas between the steps should be closed off and a light or two added below to brighten things up. The third thing noticed was the buildup of dirt on the air vents in the waiting room. How often do the filters get changed? This is a hospital! Cleanliness should be at the forefront everywhere, not just in the labor/Delivery areas. Some of us were a bit uneasy to visit our newest family member after being exposed to these unkept areas. I asked the hospital to have someone review these areas.

My sister has given birth to all three of her kids at this center. For this last visit, the nurses have been super friendly and helpful! I’m not even a patient here, but they have been so accommodating!

All three of my children were born at GMC and my wife and I have been very pleased with the staff and hospital facilities.

I originally wrote a giant review on all the stuff that Gwinnett Medical did wrong for my sisters birth of her first son recently. But decided to sum it up for you: –Poorly prepared/educated labor & delivery staff (doctor had to tell the nurse the monitor was showing the baby was distressed) –Poorly stocked supplies to meet mothers needs in recovery rooms(post delivery) –Poor security. (a random person walked in the room immediately after my sister gave birth as her son was being sent to NICU) –Poorly stocked NICU to meet babies needs (he got a bad diaper rash and my sister was told they didn’t have several baby care items when she needed them. So really? You have to bring your own diaper bag to a NICU?) –Poorly educated NICU staff on the importance of Kangaroo Care. (While my sister was holding her baby, attempting skin on skin care, a nurse told her«if she was going to play with her baby, she needed to put him down and go on home») According to Gwinnett’s website, in 60 years Gwinnett has had 100,000 births Northside does over 18,000 a year. Do the math. Do your research. Go somewhere else.

This is where I had my daughter. The staff was very friendly and knowledgable. They made my stay feel like«Home» I almost didn’t want to leave because they catered to me soooo well. This is a great place to deliver your baby.
