This was the biggest waste of money ever. He was a total jerk and not funny at all. He had the same old boring lame jokes and didn’t have any of us laughing at all. While I was hoping to see a fun magic show(on Comedy Central no less) we were very disappointed. DONOTWASTEYOUR $$$ on this guy.

When the«opening act» came out I knew I was in for a hysterical, rowdy show. If you are a fan of the absurd and can appreciate a foul-mouth, then this is definitely a show to consider. Amazing Johnathan did not fail to make me laugh during his entire set. So let’s get down to it: if you don’t like the«F word» then please, please save yourself the time and money. You’ll be glad you did and your would-be seat neighbors will be happy as well. Seeing as I was a pirate in a past life, the language didn’t faze me a bit. Other things to keep in mind… –It’s not in a theater, but in Bally’s old buffet room. It’s weird and awkward and there are some bad seats. Get there early for better seat assignments. –The show is short, coming in at around an hour. I wish it would have been a standard 90 minute show. –There isn’t much magic involved in the show. It’s more of a stand-up routine with a few magic tricks thrown in for good measure. This wasn’t an issue for me because I like to laugh and would rather see a comedian than a magician. With all that said, the show is great for the right price. I was lucky enough to get a deal on tickets and that has changed my perspective on the show. With the venue and length of the show in mind, I would not recommend paying for full-priced tickets. I’m going with four stars based off the value for what I paid. I could see the star rating drop, however, if I had paid full-price. Note: This show is no longer at Planet Hollywood, but now at Bally’s.

My Girlfriend is a huge fan and was shocked I’d never heard of this guy; well sorry growing up on the east coast I had other comedic influences. Of course after seeing him and his list of credits I did recognize the guy; His show has the typical Vegas stereotypes and is entertaining; He was late; didn’t make any apologies but promptly started the show; as far as it being magical I can’t recommend it for blowing my mind as in how did he do that? But, for a laugh and a chuckle yes he is top notch; His sidekicks are just as funny but by the end of the show the blonde(his girlfriend I believe) is over the top obnoxious and I cringed when I saw her running down the aisle toward the stage as I didn’t want to have her assault my ears with her cackle; It was a good show just don’t expect to be blown away by magic; it’s a comedy act more than anything else and you will leave with a smile.

Just went to opening night last night for Amazing Johnathan’s show at Bally’s. Wow, what an amazing event! He completely rocked the packed house, and did it in front of an awesome backdrop of full wall windows revealing a view of the Las Vegas strip. Not distracting, but perfect, for framing the lifetime work of one of the true superstars of Vegas entertainment. We see a lot of ‘new’ magicians come onto the scene. None of them can touch what we collectively experienced last night. Johnathan has accumulated so many lines, nuances, and a mastery of audience management that will never be able to be matched. Period. With the new venue and getting settled in to the new stage, by the time that you see this show, it will be one of the greatest experiences that you will ever have seeing a live show in Vegas. I swear, I laughed so hard my face hurt. And I’ve seen this show 3 times in the last year and a half! Make this a part of your next Vegas visit, you won’t be sorry. Wow, last night was, well, as always, amazing! You guys really have something with that room. And Johnathan was in rare form. He really played off of a full house. There are so many ‘America’s got talent magician of the week’ guys littering the strip… It was so reassuring that he could make it back to a venue without stumbling over all of the dead body hacks out there. He’s the only superstar in Vegas, and he’s synonymous with Vegas entertainment. Such a relief. And last night was the best that I’ve ever seen him. Whatever you’re doing, wow, keep doing it!!! This was the way that Vegas is supposed to be. I felt like I was watching a superstar for once, not just someone who had outbid everyone for a venue. I’m so thrilled for you guys!!!

I don’t get the bad reviews at all. Not in the least. I recently saw his show, and, quite frankly, it was freakin’ awesome. Put aside the fact that he picked me to join him on stage for part of the show, he was simply goofy, silly, nutty and funny. If you’re not into his brand of humour, then you may not like the show. On the other hand, if you’re into slapstick with an edge, make a point to see this show. This guy is a classic. I would go back to watch him anytime. Because I read bad reviews in the past, I shied away from the show. After speaking to an illusionist at a party(who raved about the show) I made a point of watching The Amazing J the next time I was in Vegas. I’m really glad I did. If you’re not familiar with his humour, YouTube him. If you like what you see, you’ll enjoy him«live». I certainly did!!! BIGTIME!!!

We saw him back in April 2011 and we are planning on going to Vegas in a month so I thought while I’m reading reviews about other shows I want to see, I should write a review about the shows I have seen. THISIS A WARNING. We love Vegas and have seen amazing shows. This is not one of them. Flat out the worst show we’ve seen in Vegas. My boyfriend and I can pretty much have a good time wherever we are. But this was a snooze, no humor, no magic, and expensive drinks. WASTE. If you are looking for a good comedy/magic show I recommend Mac King at Harrah’s. Family friendly but fun for adults too.

Not so amazing… Johnathan Saw him 5 years ago at The Sahara when he was an actual magician. Now he has become a stand up comedian really without any magic… only he is not funny Heck, you can pay me less money to drop F Bombs on people and not be a comedian… I mean a magician He is like watching a really great athlete really past his prime… avoid

I went to see the Amazing Johnathan Show a few weeks ago. I wasn’t sure what to expect but I was delightfully surprised by the non-stop hysterical laughter that I enjoyed from beginning till the end. His character is that of an inept magician but he’s actually a comic genius that surprisingly ends up doing an occasional really good magic trick. Even before the show begins, he has the crowd in stitches by showing the patrons on a big screen and frequently honing in on specific audience members and putting funny captions under their image. He picks on one person that he gets up on stage and the interaction that develops translates into gut-busting laughter. The other players in the show are amazingly funny caricatures reminiscent of Burns & Allen. The show is edgy and sometimes irreverent but always FUNNY!

Having seen his show a few times for free, I’d say it’s well worth the money. He’s moved to the PH from the Sahara but still lots of fun. If you’ve seen his routines on Comedy Central, you’ll know what to expect. Get VIP Seating to get closer to the action and maybe be part of the show.

This show was raunchy and rude. I suppose that I shouldn’t have been surprised– as it was marked that way, however it was NOT a magic show, and wasn’t at all what I would consider comedy. Don’t waste your money– there are plenty of class acts on the strip. This isn’t one of them.

I honestly didn’t know what to expect going into this show. My dad wanted to see it for his birthday so his girlfriend got half price tix and we went to check it out. I didn’t know that he Harmon Theater is now Krave after hours and I guess that would explain the ridiculous drink prices. You’d think with a comedy show the drinks would be a little more reasonably priced. It was $ 9 a beer. Are you effing kidding me?! The show was supposed to start at 9 but they played videos and made fun of the audience via big screens until almost 9:20. Opening act was mediocre. Jonathan himself looked like a hot mess but I thought he was pretty funny. I guess I expected a little more magic but I think there were only MAYBE3 tricks the whole thing? I could have sworn the guy he pulled up on stage for almost the whole show was a plant too, seeing as how he was alone in front of us in line and was magically placed in the front row closest to the stage. All in all, I’d say if you get free or at least half price tix, give it a shot. DEFINITELY wouldn’t pay full price though!

Absolutely horrible. A huge waste of time and money. He had a few laughs but NOT what I was expecting. Too much money for what his act was all about. Still bitter about it. Oh and if you do go, don’t throw your lighter on stage when he asks you for one. you have to go back after the show and ask for it.

I’m hesitant to say this show deserves one star! Went to the show expecting a good laugh and there were a few, but for $ 70 per person you expect a pretty good show. I think the show was worth maybe $ 10. Find another show or treat yourself to a nice dinner. Should have known the show wasn’t that great when there were only about 50 – 60 people in the theater that probably could seat close to 150 – 200 people. The opening performer sucked! I wanted to throw something at him by the time he left. Like others have said, he used a member of the audience for at least ¾ of the performance; same guy. We came to see a performer tell us some jokes and make us laugh. I think at the end of the night his audience was the joke and he was laughing at us.

This is another show to avoid watching if you’re visiting the Strip. I’m huge fans of Penn and Teller and of dark humor, so I was hopeful that this show would be enjoyable. Unfortunately, the magic is mediocre and it was pretty much a comedy routine. I love good comedy, but I felt his jokes were so predictable that it was embarrassing. Except, at the beginning, when he flashed my image on the big screen and labeled me a goat f*cker. That was unexpected and kinda funny. You can easily find 50% off tickets on the strip. If you have netflix, you could watch his DVD on there, instead. I’d recommend that you avoid this show entirely and that you choose to see Penn and Teller @ Rio instead. If you’re lucky, you can get tickets to that show for 50% off.

This was the worst show we have ever seen in Vegas, or possibly anywhere. If you’re looking for magic, you will be disappointed. If you’re looking for comedy, you will be disappointed — unless perhaps you are an 11-year-old boy… or if you REALLY enjoy gay-bashing. Save your money. DONOTSEETHISSHOW. I cannot believe it is still running in Vegas! It was so uncomfortably pathetic, no one in the whole theater was laughing. If you’re looking for super-raunchy humor in Vegas, check out Anthony Cools: The Uncensored Hypnotist.

I’ve seen him on Comedy Central and thought he was hilarious… so I was looking forward to seeing a new routine… some years later. WRONG !! Like others… his show is ALMOSTEXACTLY the same show… I mean many in the audience were talking along with him… knowing what the next joke was going to be… Perhaps that is why only 50 of us were even in this cavernous room! So it you’ve never seen him before… go and have fun. If you’ve already seen him on TV, then go see someone else… – JT

The Amazing Johnathan is a twisted mother f#$%^r. And my kinda guy. WHOSHOULDATTEND«THEAMAZINGJOHNATHAN»: Look — the best way to characterize the Amazing Johnathan’s at is that you’ll find it frickin’ hilarious, if: …1) Your web browser’s home page is permanently set to …2) You LOL every time some spandex-laden rollerblader hits a bump in the concrete & bites it hard on the pavement …3) You’re drunk off your ass, hangin’ with the bros, and want some good ol’ head-in-the-gutter humor. WHOSHOULDAVOIDTHESHOW: Otherwise, if you’re a prude — go watch Rita Rudner or George Wallace. And while you’re at it, you might want to also cancel your Bobby Slayton & your Brad Garrett tickets too while you’re at it. Seriously. …And for those of you who went to this show and found yourself«surprised» by its content, try using«the Internet» before you buy tickets to a show. See, if you do this thing called«planning», you won’t be disappointed with your choices. They don’t brand him the«Freddy Kruger of Comedy» for nothing, dumbass. WHYYOU’LLENJOYIT: This ISN’T a magic show. It’s a comedy show… and if you’re a little disturbed like I am, you’ll find it uproariously funny. 1) DID I MENTION, HE’S DEMENTED? If you work in an office, longing to use your Swingline to staple the mouth of the guy who’s in the cubicle next to yours, or maybe you found«Officespace» hilarious in general — particularly the fax machine scene — there’s a good chance you’re gonna dig the odd humor in this show. …Y’see the part of the Amazing Johnathan’s brain that normally stops you from doing the evil, sinister things that your subconscious suggests, went on sabbatical a couple years ago. Imagine there being no filter between the ‘Id’ of his angry brain and his actions, and you’ll get a good idea of what to expect. 2) BACK-TO-COLLEGEHUMOR It really is college frat house humor. But I’m assuming you’re not in college any more so you can’t get this kind of fine-high-quality-light-my-farts-humor anymore other than on . In any case, prepare yourself for a lot of «eff you-middle-finger-touch-my-monkey» type of behavior while abusing some poor unsuspecting audience member. Just make sure you’re not that audience member. 3) IT’S FUNWITHTHERIGHTCROWD See my comments at the bottom of this review, but if you have the right audience — especially an intoxicated one, this show can get out-of-hand laughing to the point of having to stop the show at certain points because you can’t hear anything and drunks think they can talk to the Amazing Johnathan while he’s performing on stage… at which point it gets even funnier because he doesn’t hold back on these dudes. WORTH A SECONDVISIT? The Amazing Johnathan’s been bouncing around from the Golden Nugget to the Orleans to the Sahara to Planet Hollywood. He’s had his own Comedy Central special running in repeats for a few years. His act hasn’t really changed much in all the years he’s done it so the show is good once — twice if you want to see it with someone else and watch their face. CONCLUSION Beware the«Himalayan Snowball of Death». Or the«Pakistani Snowball of Death». Or whatever. Otherwise, have a drink, sit back, and enjoy the ride. And remember that if the words, «That’s so immature» escape your lips, it’s not that it’s not funny; it’s just not your kind of humor… you frickin’ prude. Now go do your hail mary’s, dammit. 4-star show minus ½ star for the lack of repeatability beyond a couple visits. 3 ½-stars rounded up to 4. See you in church. — — — — — — — — INSIDER’S TIP: «THESHOWWITHINTHESHOW» If you’re smart, you’ll get to know the people around you before the show starts. Pick the people you introduce yourself to based on what they’re drinking, realizing that there’s going to be a «show within the show». Before the curtain goes up, watch the folks that are having cocktails and living it up: Those’ll be the ones laughing it up at top volume. …Now watch the folks with grey hair & walking sticks, wearing cardigans sweaters & sipping«club soda»: They likely got their tix comped by the hotel & $ 10 bucks says, they’ll be walking out within minutes of the curtain lifting. …For extra fun, make a drinking game out of it: Every time you spot someone in the audience leaving in offense, you consume.

For adults only, that’s for sure. It’s potty humor. But it’s GREAT potty humor. I think he does one magic trick — maybe 2 — the entire 90 mins, and he just drags them out with a great comedy routine. If you’re easily offended, stay home. If you like bawdy humor and appreciate it done really well, this is a great show to see. Laughed the entire time and would definitely see it again.

It was funny in parts. though him calling gays disgusting was pretty lame. Plus before the show they show audience members on the big screen and put«funny» captions. like«homo» for one guy. I was wishing they would have shown my bf and I. we would have started making out! Now that would have been funny! If you HAVE to check it out go to . you can get discount tickets there.
