Tourists always ask«Where do the locals eat?» And this is one of the hidden gems in Lahaina. Don’t forget to ask for extra ginger sauce

Well, somewhat disappointed. The food was just ok. Woman that was working spent more time talking with her friend there then paying attention to my wife and I trying to order, I understand it’s Hawaii since we’ve been coming out here for years now and many people talk story, but it’s rather rude to blatantly disregard someone who is trying to purchase something from you during the three hour time span your open. I do not appreciate being made to feel like an inconvenience. Now for the food. Upgraded to fried rice and had the steak and scallops. Seemed very pricey, even on Maui terms for food that was something I could have gotten from Panda or a food court. The ginger sauce is good and the steak was cooked perfectly. Hence the two stars versus the one I wanted to give.

Checked in late on Friday next door. This place is great. The couple that owns it is great and it takes about 20 mins to get food but the choices are perfect. I got the chicken with garlic fried rice and she got the shrimp and fish with kimchi rice. $ 30 – 40 for two people with all the upgrades and totally worth it. Eat here one night

Just ok. Got steak and scallop. Steak was tough, scallop was pretty good, fried rice was really salty. Ginger sauce was meh — not sure what’s the rage. Really wanted to like this place but didn’t work out.

Great food and huge portions my hubby and I are the leftovers the next day! You can easily split one order between 2 people. We had: –steak and shrimp with kimchi fried rice –steak and chicken with garlic fries rice I found the steak to be a little bit tough to chew even though it was medium rare but the flavor of the rice shrimp and chicken was awesome! Simple satisfying and flavorful! We would def go back! And the husband and wife duo are great people I wish them all the best in their business!

Absolutely Phenomenal. And I mean awesome. I heard about this place almost a year ago. Have driven by a few times and noticed that there’s usually a crowd. I live here and am always up for something new and exciting. Someplace that’s a great value for a good price and I don’t have to pay resort prices. This fits that bill. Cooked to perfection and not dried out. I hate overcooked seafood. The fried rice, just the way I like. No onions. The service, attitude and conversation is all professional, but more importantly. It’s local and cordial. Keep up the great work guys.

Wow. Everything you read is true. This place is outstanding. Two very kind people making a living by making outstanding food for you to take home and enjoy. We ate here two nights in a row. The scallops are groundbreaking. You get two. They are huge and the food cost is astronomical. Deal with it. The steak can be a little chewy, but it is very good. No criticism of the chicken. Pay the extra $ 4 to get the fried rice. It’s worth it. There is no need for two people to order two plates. Split one and take it to a close by beach to watch the sunset.

What a great find just walking around. Husband and wife run the place, definitely worth a stop. Cooked to order so plan to wait 15 – 20 min. Worth every minute. Lots of food, couples can definitely share and be satisfied. Had the jumbo scallops and steak. Yum!

Outdoor sidewalk grill run by a couple. To-go only. Super fresh and delicious grilled seafood. Believe what they say about the excellent giant sea scallops(3 in my serving), well seasoned and cooked to perfection. Our party also enjoyed the shrimp and mahi mahi. Loved the ginger sauce, with fresh-grated ginger, on everything. So why not 5 stars? The Kimchi Fried Rice(a $ 5 up-charge) was way too salty. The Scallops were $ 17 to start with. For a $ 22/person take-away meal it didn’t quite warrant 5 stars. Also, expect a long wait. We waited 1.5 hours for our food after ordering. It wouldn’t have been so bad since the hostess gave us a realistic estimate of how long our food would take. We left and then came back. However, 2 of our meals were boxed and served 20 minutes before the other 2, so my food was cold by the time we all had our food. It would have been nice if all 4 meals were boxed at the same time. It was pricey, but I would rather give my money to a small business trying to serve high quality fresh food with low overhead than eat at a resort. It was a worthwhile trip. They deserve their success. I recommend going just before they open 4:55pm, or calling your order in.

I was a bit skeptical about the 5 star rating, but after going there on Tuesday evening, I get why this place has such high-marks! This place puts Benihanas to shame. The food was excellent. There is no seating, just order at the grill(cool) and grab your food and go. Tip-Get there before they open to avoid the long wait! We got there at 4:55PM and within minutes after we ordered they had about 15 orders… with a ton of people waiting. We also observed people calling their orders in.

Super friendly! I saw the photo of the steak and scallops and knew I had to have it! It was delicious! Pro tip: walk next door when the food is cooking and grab a beer/drink from the abc store.

You know how hard it is to get 5 stars on your Unilocal rating? Like super near impossible. So had to go check out what all the fuss was. And yes I’ll contribute to the accolades. Why? Husband and wife run this roadside standout. Just dinner. Just because thats all they want/need to do. They do it themselves and shop for the fresh ingredients right before they show up to start prepping and cooking. Way to go. Simple prep and cook with some great sauces make the freshness pop and worth the wait. Quality ingredients for sure. We got there right at opening so no real wait. A few seats if you want to eat on your lap as no table tops. Or to go or in your car. Just eat it while it’s hot. Scallops and shrimp with fried rice was the one we got. Scallops were HUGE so we only got two of them and I see pictures where they have used small ones where you get a lot more. Perfectly cooked which with big boys can be hard. Shrimps were also great. It’s what they like when they go to the fish market is how this works so the size can change I guess. They said the scallops were from Japan. Next time I would go for the local fish. I like local. Price came to $ 22 bucks I think so may seem steep for a roadside eat in your lap place but hey, it’s the islands! Was it the most amazing thing I ever ate like many say? Not really. Lets be real, these days in foodie gourmet heaven there are some amazing foods being made. This is just some classic island teppanyaki done fantastically well. It’s suuuper tasty and for sure I’d go back. But it still gets a «fiver» because of the passion and quality they put in to this and doing it «there way». Keep on going…

How does a restaurant have 156 reviews(as of today) and 5 stars? You must go there and find out for yourself. The scallops were my absolute favorite and my wife loved the Mahi. Show up early because they can run out of certain items(did I mention the scallops yet?!?). Be sure to get the fried rice(go easy on soy sauce if sensitive to sodium). They cook to order and your taste. Only open 5pm-8pm when we visited. Food items are fresh and fish is local/daily. Call in orders are also welcome. Be sure to banter with the owners for added fun!!! Pretend to be a 49ers fan(it couldn’t hurt).

Best food on Maui without a doubt! I don’t care how much it came out to, I’d go back everyday if I could. It’s like a Benihana style setup, but on a sidewalk practically. They fill each tray to the brim so you could in theory share, but once you taste what they’re serving, you won’t wanna. The scallops were the best I ever had, and the fried rice was phenomenal. Everything tastes so fresh here, and the guy cooking makes everything perfectly. Doesn’t matter if it’s the chicken or the shrimp. It’s all good here. Take the tray and go eat at the beach down the street. The place is only open from 5−8pm so it’s perfect for a sunset meal. It was definitely the most memorable meal I had on the island.

Definitely lives up to the hype plus more. The pics don’t do it justice. I ordered the shrimp and scallop with garlic fried rice. Wow. I was full mid way but couldn’t stop eating. It was too good. Everything was cooked perfectly and had great flavor. My hubby got the steak with garlic fried rice and loved that too. He also got full, since the portions are very generous, but continued eating because of the flavor. We both finished our meals completely. Would definitely come back!

Just finished the meal, it was excellent. You can smell the cooking grille as you drive by. We were told about this place by our shuttle bus driver Dave. Boy was he 100% on this tip, hope I see him again to tell him thanks. Sorry, didn’t take a pic. I ordered the steak and chicken combo with regular sides. I paid and we were waiting for our order to get made when the dude starts making kimchi fried rice. Well, i ask what that was and he asked what I ordered. I told him just the regular plate, he told me to hang on. He hooked me up with the kimchi fried rice to just show off his skills, and it was awesome. I’m gonna definitely going to try and go back again before I leave.

A-Maz-Ing! This place is fantastic. We enjoyed the chicken, steak, shrimp and scallops! We also loved the garlic fried rice. They are so nice and made us so comfortable. I’m not a scallops person, but they made them taste wonderful! The ginger sauce is a must. Everyone in my party devoured this food. What an experience. We will be back!

Walking by the day after Christmas, I saw the big guy cooking away and got a wiff of the smoke pouring off the grill — the aroma literally grabbed me by the nose and brought me to the stand. «I’ll take two chicken teppanyakis with the garlic and kimchi fried rice upgrade please!» The woman taking the orders looks at me, and in a consoling tone, let’s me know«it’s 2 hour wait.» … HOLYHELL. This place has to be good! I say to hell with it and place my order — sure enough, I get a call 2 hours later that my order is ready. And let me tell you, this place was 100% worth the wait. I don’t think I’ve ever had Teppanyaki like this nor will I until I come back. Fresh, exquisite flavors, and DEFINITELY get the garlic/kimchi fried rice upgrades.

Had to go back a couple of days after our first visit to try the scallops and shrimp plate. So glad we came back. Loved the scallops and shrimp. Often scallops are over cooked. These were cooked to perfection, and they were huge. The shrimp was awesome too. I got the garlic fried rice with mine as I thought it would be a nice flavor compliment to the scallops and shrimp. It was a good choice and glad I did. Not as much of a wait this time :) We’ll be back next visit.
