Great little hole in the wall in Laguna Beach! Unique little rolls at great pricing. Try to get Mario as the Chef… he’s better than Sato(who isn’t bad). Great relaxed ambience.

Unbelievably good :) I know it is a dive and small but if you know what you are getting into it basically sushi perfection. My wife and I have been going here for years and we strongly recommend it to anyone who loves them some good good sushi when they can get it.

My boyfriend and I were spending our last hour @ Laguna Beach and we were a little hungry… So we decided to try out Hapi Sushi. We had the 97 special. It was good and the sauces on top were really tasty. Definitely will try them out again !!!

Disappointing I’ve gone here for years but it’s just not as good. Tiny rolls and way too sweet ! I would pass.

Went here last night and once again I am super impressed with their food! We always visit different sushi places as many places have unique roll choices, but this particular restaurant has the best flavor. I don’t know what they put on their sushi rolls, but it is delicious! We even took a roll home to my dad since we had been bragging about this place so much and he wanted to try. He loved it! Said it was one of the best rolls he had and he has tried a lot of rolls! You guys rock!

I am a sushi addict, and over the hundreds of places I have tried, nothing beats Hapi! I recommend the Crunchy Albacore Roll or 49 Special Roll. Both amazing!!!

Late lunch — really enjoyed it. We had the restaurant to ourselves. Fresh. Delicious. Quirky, but fun.

Friday night, 7pm, Laguna Beach, people walking in route to their dinner spots. We saw on Unilocal this sushi place, it was nearby, so we started walking. My wife then noticed the dreaded 3 ½ stars, which means this place could go either way. As we passed crowded after crowded food establishments, we came to Hapi and it was empty, except for that lone couple inside among all the empty tables AND the empty sushi bar(say what?). Ok, ok, we still sat down. The waiter brought a cheap laminated menu reminiscent of a happy hour menu except for the prices were typical sushi dinner prices. I asked for a Poki salad. The waiter had this confused look his face as if I was speaking Martian. He said, we don’t serve Poki. Seriously? Any sushi place worth it’s price in fish can make Poki! We should have walked out at that point. The spicy tuna hand roll was a fiasco. We ordered it without rice but as a replacement, some simple veggies added to it like most normal sushi places will do. The waiter brought it and it was SMALL, so we sent it back to add some veggies for filler like we asked the first time. By doing so, the price went from $ 6 to $ 10! The waiter tried to explain that there was more fish in it which was a complete farce. The crunch hand roll was also very small. Completely ridiculous. Next, the salmon sashimi arrived. Five pieces, cut so thin you could see through it. We ordered the spinach salad, very basic, maybe 14or 15 leaves of spinach with an Asian dressing. We had ordered some ice teas and the typical little bowl of edamame. So there you have it: 2 dinky hand rolls, 2 orders of the chintzy thin salmon sashimi, spinach greens, edamame and ice teas= $ 50! Are you kidding me? We will never go back to this place that left us feeling not very«Hapi.»

Excellent little sushi place that no one knows about! Very well priced and cute ambiance. We prefer Mario(«Super Mario»!!!) as the chef since he seems to make better rolls… but the other chief Andrew is decent too.

We had chef’s choice sushi and it was perfect. Such fresh fish. The prices were very reasonable. The sashimi was as good as it gets. Very quaint spot located in the heart of Laguna Beach.

I came here for the first time with my roommate a few days ago and thought, «Awesome! A hole in the wall place! It must be great!» We went around 1:45, so no one was there. I took a look at the menu and wasn’t impressed from first glance. Small menu and I noticed even the most basic rolls were about $ 3-$ 4 more expensive than other local sushi places. The spicy tuna was $ 9 I think. $ 9? I’ve seen places sell spicy tuna rolls for $ 6.95 or even $ 5.95. Anyways, service was decent. I ordered the crunch roll which was $ 10. It was good. My roommate enjoyed her roll as well. Overall, not much else to say, but food was good, but I think the menu was small and the place was overpriced. I will possibly come back, but I’ve been to better sushi places around here.

I LOVE this place! I have been coming here for over 5 years and I love it! It may not have a chic 5 star appearance but the food is 5 star for sure! I love their crunchy roll, their 79 special with strawberries, miso soup, tuna and salmon sushi are to die for! I love this place so much, my fiancé and I have been going here for all our anniversaries since I can remember. We love Hapi Sushi!

Great place. Very small and the seating is not very comfortable. Friendly staff but the place was full and there was only one server and one sushi chef so the wait times were a bit high. Delicious sushi and you could tell it was fresh. We tried 4 different rolls at our table and all were very good. The menu is fairly small but what they do have is quality. Very cute place in the middle of great shopping and fun.

Before a Unilocal event at laguna art museum, my friend and i came here around 6:45pmish and it was pretty much dead. Seeing that there was no crowd made me a little nervous because that must mean that this place was not good. The only reason why I came in here because there was a Unilocal sticker outside so hopefully it was good! my friend and I sat down and we got our orders taken. We ordered: Calamari Roll: This roll was very tasty. I was really hungry so pretty much anything to be tasted good. The rolls were a bit skinny and small but overall really good 79 roll: This roll had eel, avocado, and slices of strawberries on top. This sounded very interesting and it was one of their specials. I took a bit and it was amazingly interesting and good! You can taste the citrus of the strawberries and then the fish. Very very good! Baked Mussels: This was also good. $ 8.40 for 4 was a bit much but it was tasty. I was too hungry to even take a picture :( Overall, this place was pretty decent but kind of pricey for such small rolls. I would come back here to try their other special rolls NOTE: –Very very small place –TV to watch any games
