It’s been many years since I’ve dined at La Paloma and did so only because I owed my buddy dinner. I suggested Taco Tuesday and much to my dissatisfaction he wanted to eat here. I obliged and was actually pretty pleased with my dinning experience last night. It was a little better than I remembered. This place gets major points for excellent customer service. I arrived super early to catch some of the Kings game at the bar. My bartender Juan was tending bar and was a server to the tables in the bar section, on his own. He was friendly, efficient, and kicked butt. He also had the most obnoxious, fowl-mouthed, inebriated customers at the bar. One of the drunk ladies at the bar claimed she was 38. If true, she was less than 10 years older than I am but looked a good 25 years older. That alone is enough reason to stop drinking lol. Juan was friendly and still made a point to simmer them down, which made everyone very appreciative. We were all even happier when the restaurant manager basically kicked them out =]. Once my buddy arrived, we moved to the dinning room and our waitress, whose name escapes me, was super friendly and awesome. And she’s been there around 40 years! She’s legit. The food however wasn’t as amazing as the service. Although it tasted better than I expected and remembered, it was still a little bland and was what a good Californian would refer to as «pocho»(Americanized) food. I also didn’t think the structure to their Taco Tuesday was very very good. It was 6 bucks for 1 taco with rice and beans. I ordered the 1 taco special and added an additional taco — shredded beef. I would rather have 2 dollar tacos and skip the rice and beans. Their happy hour wasn’t anything special either. It was a dollar off drinks and appetizers. It should be noted though, that their prices are already pretty competitive. If I were to come back, I think it would just be to watch a game at the bar, with a beer and an appetizer.

Welp. The service is fairly terrible. I will admit that they got an instant 2 pstars knocked off, even though I live so close and love mexican food. I walked in and you pay at the front counter, so the counter person was pretty busy. I took a seat to wait for someone to escort me to a table. Three workers quickly walked past me, so I assumed that they weren’t the ones to seat people. One of the men who had walked past me came back to the front, and a couple walked in. He quickly assisted them, and I am meanwhile waiting to be noticed. The couple actually tried to convince him that I was waiting first, but I insisted that they go ahead and get settled, and I would try to find someone else who could seat me. I hate being ignored in a restaurant and passed over for someone else who«looks like» they are customers. Another waiter was watching the incident and offered to seat me. There was no apology given. The food is ok at best. I ordered the La Paloma margarita, and it tasted like straight tequila. If you like very hard drinks, like mixed drinks, go for this! I actually like my margaritas to be sweet, so I was disappointed. Chips and salsa come with the meal, and you will notice people complain about the spice to the waiters. This is the spiciest salsa I’ve ever tasted, and I like spicey food, but my goodness! I ordered shrimp enchiladas, and the shrimp were seasoned awesomely! The white white sauce over the enchiladas is also good. All in all, this place is probably between 2 – 3 stars. I won’t be coming back or ever recommending it.

Great place, my hubby and I grew up in the area and also ate at this establishment with our own parents. We also continued to visit while dating and our daughter grew up eating here. It’s great! The staff remembers all of us, as far as the food is, well, I always get the chimichanga and my hubby gets either the chili Colorado or burrito enchilada style(same meat) the meat is always flavor full and tender. Don’t forget about the chips and salsa! They also have a full bar, which I live much to far away to indulge in. Must try for anyone going to the LA County fair. Also love the remodel~ nice facelift.

Came here for a going away brunch and ordered the house specialty, chicken cilantro and was pleasantly surprised. I asked for a side salad instead of the beans. Salad was a full size with Italian dressing. Chicken was nicely seasoned and tastes great with the rice. My boyfriend ordered the carnitas plate and the meat was very tender. The green salsa that came with the carnitas was delicious! I would come back to La Paloma if I were in the area again. Btw– the rocks margarita was good too!

My mom has been coming here since she was in high school. We just recently went and I was glad to see they have brightened up the inside without losing the nostalgic décor. The chips and salsa are good and we got the beef chimichanga. It was perfectly cooked and stuffed full of tender beef. Flavorful seasoning and not enormous like some Mexican restaurants. Discovered they also do take out!
