Maybe we should have tried them first! After eating at The Taco Shack this place was quite honestly just boring! Not fresh in my opinion and salsas were not great. Come back to LA Jolla I will head to The Taco Shack!

LOVE this place! We’ve been in La Jolla for 3 days and have had some ok and bad meals. As ATLiens on vacation, we wanted California Mexican quick-food. We have great Mexican in Atlanta so we wanted West Coast. Not sure what we got was«Mexican» food but it was so amazing and delicious. Wahoo fish with teriyaki and brown rice, black beans. We’re coming back tomorrow! Great skater/surf ambiance which seemed right on to us. Way better than the expensive fish restaurant across the street that we had earlier today.

Ahhmazing! Ordered the Wahoo fish bowl with teriyaki, black beans and brown rice… and it was scrumptious. The chips and salsa even had a red salty spice that made the starter great and a good mix with the fish bowl. The guy that took our order was so nice and helpful by making sure we had the right salsa. This is a super low key place with surfing videos playing on the tv and surf boards throughout the restaurant. Definitely seems to be a locals hangout and so glad we found it. Will come back every day we are here in La Jolla! And really affordable at $ 10 for a fish bowl.

Had the carnitas quesadilla. Carnitas were great; the quesadilla was generously sized and the guacamole was good.

From the reviews it seems like this place can be hit or miss. Luckily I chubby man that loves good food and friendly service both of which I got here. I was referred to thos place from a friend and thoroughly enjoyed the food and the staff. I got the spicy burrito with fish and it was dang good. So good in fact that I’m debating about getting another one. That or I’ll be back tomorrow to eat some more. Daniel was our server and he was super helpful and friendly. Definitely made the meal better. Definitely check this place out.

I’ve been to wahoos a few times now and it hasn’t disappointed me yet! The tacos are surprisingly loaded with fish and not one small piece of breaded fish like most other places.

Not your stereotypical la Jolla setting. Great food, comfortable setting, ocean side– happy life !

Been coming here for years, ever since my dad owned Dicks Liquor right up the street from it. I always go for the fish tacos black bean/brown rice plate. It’s definitely a tier above Rubios but they also have a great selection of drinks, alcoholic and non alcoholic. Usually see the business crowd here around lunch. Can’t wait to come back!

The only reason why they don’t get 5 stars is because of the competition next door and across the street. Their menu consists of relatively healthy, fresh ingredients and some interesting dishes that aren’t your«typical» Mexican food fare. Always playing cool surf films which is a bonus for me!

First time at Wahoos was in LA and it was great! Quick service and great food! Today we went to the La Jolla location and found the same great service and experience. My husband ordered the shrimp burrito, I the Kale Salad with Tofu and my son got the kids shrimp taco and fries. We were all super Satisfied and our waiter Daniel was so kind and friendly. Even ordering another shrimp taco and Laying without us having to even get up from the table! Thank you Daniel!

Wahoo is the sound I made when I tasted the food and it had no flava! I eat anything and this food was so bland and plain. Maybe this is not a fair review because I’ve only been there once. Don’t think I’ll be back though~

Awesome fish tacos and burritos, for a fair price, in fantastic location! I almost always get the blackened Mahi either on a taco or in a burrito, and I am always happy with it! The staff are very pleasant and you can be back on the beach in 15 minutes! I love this place for their commitment to yummy food, and casual approach! Keep it up Wahoos!

We stopped by this location for lunch and were pleasantly surprised. Wahoo is a food chain that serves affordable decent Cali-Mex food. They have tacos, enchiladas and burritos with chicken, beef, and fish options. Most entrees are between $ 7 – 10. Our food was fresh and hot. This location is small and beware, the parking lot only has 5 – 6 compact spots and is shared with the other shops next door. Street parking can be difficult to find. The workers were friendly and attentive to our needs. Only issue is the bathrooms needed some work– there’s a weird stench inside and the sink and toilets are pretty old and chipping.

Great service great food. Their social hour is a joke its only for the beer thats bottled. What a joke 3 dollars for a Bud Light? Food and price is dead on.

This place was extremely good! They give very good portion sizes especially for the price! The flavor of everything(we ordered six different menu items) was amazing!!! We definitely left satisfied!

My experience was subpar at best tonight at Wahoo’s La Jolla. The food was incredibly mediocre and served to us pretty much at room temperature. Staff was almost non-existent and the place was super dirty. Ants all over the walls in the dining area and this always makes me wonder what kind of visitors they get back in the kitchen. Food was OK, and the restaurant was a pigsty.

Was craving fish tacos and came across Wahoo’s in La Jolla. Right in the heart of the other shops on the main street in La Jolla, Wahoo’s is easy to find. There is parking in front, not too many spots though so if you go during a busy period you may be circling for parking. They have a huge menu — many choices. It’s quite intimidating for someone like me who doesn’t want to sift through so many choices… I asked the cashier and he was very friendly and pointed me in the right direction. In the end I got a Wahoo fish burrito, wet style. He made the right suggestion recommending to get the burrito wet style — it was really good. My only regret was getting the Wahoo fish — I would get salmon next time as I found the Wahoo fish too tough for me. Inside is very casual, has a tv and ample seats for groups. Service was great and very good value for money. I’d definitely go again!

Too Americanized… …is the nicest way I can say that without offending anyone! This is more my fault than anything. You tell a local you want So Cal fish tacos and they take you there, say you are sick and leave right away. These lack flavor and originality. The large chunk(good in quantity) of fish isn’t shredded, just a slab of white fish thrown in three(yes three) corn tortillas! The rice was okay, all I can sum up is — lackluster! The Baja Rolls were not what I expected. They were cold. They were like pinwheels you’d have at a baby or bridal shower. They came with a dipping sauce or salsa that was tasty, with a little heat! Again, nothing too great, but bearable! Their fries were tasty, I snagged a few from the kids we were dining with. The wine was as you’d expect from here. I didn’t have high hopes, it wasn’t good, but it wasn’t bad. It tasted good after a day at the La Jolla beach. There is literally a taqueria 10 steps away, go there… and bypass Wahoo’s immediately!

4 stars for the food. 4 stars for the beer selection. Pizza Port Chronic amber on draft. I finished running the La Jolla Half and needed a good solid meal in me. I wanted blackened chicken and Cajun white beans and beer. Lots of beer! Wahoos didn’t disappoint. I ordered the blackened chicken plate with Cajun white beans with blackened mushrooms on top. Yum! And the beer was yum. Kids found the beans a little spicy but kid meals are a great deal at $ 3.95! Good food fast service!

Quality has fallen overall since my previous visit. Wahoos has good prices and good recipes, such as their green sauce. But my brown rice had a poor texture, as if it was either undercooked or overheated til it dried out. My black beans were too hard. The 2 fish enchiladas with green sauce were tasty. The cost for two fish enchiladas with green sauce, xtra cheese, brown rice and mixed beans was $ 7.60. Octoberfest beer is currently $ 2.25 and white wine is $ 4.00. The bathroom that I used smells like a sewer, which is unappetizing. It has an old sink where you have to keep your hand pressed on the faucet the whole time. This bathroom(on the left) needs a remodel. Didn’t try the second bathroom. Employees who took our order and delivered our food were friendly.
