I LOVED the atmosphere of this little house/restaurant. The menu was eclectic and interesting. I had the roast chicken dumpling(?) sort of dish which I expected to really like, but the flavor of cumin(I think) was overpowering. I’ll go back and try another dish. I really thought it was a darling place.

We tried the pizza and it was borderline terrible. The crust was soggy from the tomatoes that should have had some of the water removed. The pickle plate was okay. Overpriced for what it was. The cocktails were great. Service was good. But possibly the most uncomfortable outdoor seating I’ve ever encountered. We left feeling as though we had been pick pocketed.

Quaint, serene, peaceful, with a wonderful thought out menu. We are very lucky to have found this place. The owners are spectacular and the waitstaff is very nice. Our waitress could have a little more food knowledge, when explaining the specials and menu items, since you can tell the chef puts so much thought in effort in his food. My husband and I love seeing good food honored. We love everything about this place and we try to bring visitors often! :)

It’s like going to eat at your grandmas house… and she’s a classically trained French chef! Delicious! Fresh! Local! LOVE this place.

Really cool vibe here. We had boated in from Tacoma and walked up to just a few blocks from the marina. The food was amazing and locally sourced. So cool… Will definitely be back here whenever I’m through Kingston.

OK, so, I was going to give Mossback four stars. I am a picky person and rarely give anyone five stars. Plus I found that the ambiance was a little too precious, like they are just trying too hard to be quirky. Like, in their studied attempt at a lack of pretentiousness they have actually crossed the line back over into pretentiousness. And, the waitstaff can be a little iffy(mostly they are awesome, though, but the guy who told me the tuna was fresh and local and then couldn’t tell me how long ago it had been caught — c’mon guy). But here’s the thing — the food. The food is so insanely delicious that you can’t not give them five stars. They could force me to put on a chintz apron to get into the Mossback spirit, and I would still give them five stars. The food here actually lives up to the premise of fresh, simple, and delicious. And fresh. The flavors on every single dish just sing. I don’t care how weird something on the menu sounds, just try it – trust me, it will be amazing(exception: the pickle plate where all of the pickled vegetables taste exactly the same). I don’t know what else to say besides that — the food is just so amazingly fresh and delicious. Actually, it borders on addictive(just ask my family, who were dragged there almost every night they were open when we were last in Kingston). What gets me is that this restaurant picked Kingston for its home. Believe me, I am NOT complaining, not at all; it’s just that this is the kind of restaurant that could pop up in any big city across the country and, competing against all the fancier restaurants, still get rave reviews from everyone. And they picked Kingston. Wow. Tip: if you are in Edmonds, take the ferry over in the late afternoon, walk up the hill(better to walk up BEFORE your meal and be able to walk down afterwards), enjoy a great early dinner, and then take the ferry back. This would make for a perfect evening!

My fiancé and I made reservations the day before and went here on Valentine’s Day and had their 3 course set menu. This is easily the best fine dining experience in Kingston. The décor was lovely, the food was solid, and the staff was friendly. Next time I’m in Kingston I’m anxious to try out their full menu.

What a wonderful find. We dined during happy hour, in the back house where the bar is located. They have a great selection of craft cocktails, with a great selection of locally sourced beer and spirits. We dined on the happy hour specials, drinks, and then desert. The coffee crème brûlée knocked my socks off!

This place is great! They use a bunch of local farms and breweries, and their cocktails feature local ingredients and change all the time. I was pleasantly surprised by the hints of Indian cuisine in a number of dishes(lentil daal, chutney wale aloo, cardamom vanilla semifreddo). The halvah(sesame nougat) orange blossom ice cream was awesome, and super interesting. I’d highly recommend this place to anyone visiting the peninsula. It’s reasonably priced, delicious, and adorable(it’s literally in a converted house). (Note: only takes reservations for 6+)

Four of us visited and all tried the tasting menu for$ 35 per person. They served us family style and we had a chance to sample almost everything on the menu. Excellent! Really creative tasty food. Go Wednesday eve and have happy hour all evening.

Wow! Finally a great place to dine in Kingston! Warming and relaxing atmosphere and great food that has been thoroughly thought out by the chef! Loved the squash soup, kofta, and chocolate pudding dessert. The customer service was spot on. I can’t wait to come back and try other items on the menu! Everything we tried was so full of flavor! Great place for a romantic date.

The menu was interesting and the presentation nice. However, our server was indifferent, took forever to serve everyone their drink and then completely neglected to put in an order for one member of our party. She did offer a complimentary glass of wine to this diner; their meal was served 15 minutes after the rest of us had finished our dinners. Three of us ordered soup. The soup would have been better if it were served hot. Several of us ordered salmon with each piece cooked differently, ranging from pink to nearly raw. One member of our party said that the rabbit pot pie was good. Other reviewers have rated this restaurant highly and perhaps they were having an ‘off’ night. For me, the thing I’ll remember the most is the indifference shown by our server. This place can do better.

This place is great! I think folks don’t know where it is or how wonderful it is. Visit it now! The Rabbit Pot Pie was delicious. Service was very good as were the cocktails.

This is the first Unilocal review I’ve ever written and it’s to tell the world that the Mossback is effing amazing. We tried it for the first time in May and have been back at least once every couple of weeks since then. The menu always changes and has exciting new things to try. I’ve had a number of delicious pizzas with seasonal ingredients on them. My SO has had their rabbit pot pie multiple times(holy cow it’s good). Their cocktails are great(made with local ingredients, like everything else there). The best part, though, is their ice cream. I’ve tried chocolate, curry, Earl Grey, and Douglas Fir and all have been surprising, creamy, and delectable. We are so lucky to have such a fabulous, first-class restaurant in our small little town!

So exciting to have them here in town! I believe in everything they are doing because they are doing it well. I was there for the unveiling of the new space in the back named The Rabbit Hole and was pleasantly surprised. The space is modest and organic in nature, comfortable and not pretentious. I picture myself hanging out at the new bar and having a few small bites and tasting some of the exciting craft cocktails often. I started my experience with a Mossback Mule, while it was delicious, the real gem was a drink called The Briar Patch. The cocktail used house made nettle soda, Wild Roots raspberry infused Vodka from Hillsboro Oregon and Tucker Vodka from Silverdale. It was artistically served, and well balanced amount of sweet to bitter notes. I enjoyed a couple of small bites as well. The Tower of Power was a kofta meatball slider on a pretzel roll with roasted pepper spread, pickled apple and a delicious salad. They use fresh local ingredients with special attention to what is in season and locally available and the quality of the food shines though. I also enjoyed an wonderful Goat Taco served on a corn tortilla with shredded cabbage, cilantro crème fraîche, Cotija cheese and a roasted chile salsa. I will be back!

This is quite possibly the best restaurant I have been to in as long as I can remember. Atmosphere… perfect. Drinks… perfect. Food… perfect. Service… perfect. Leslie, the owner was an absolute joy. I traveled from Maine and this has been the highlight of my trip. I went with friends and we were all mesmerized by the entire experience. I had the kimchee pancakes and the farmers pot pie and both were delish!!! Don’t miss this place!

Fantastic little homey place(literally its in a home). Exactly what we were looking for a nice evening visit. Had brussel sprout gnocchi and it was fantastic. All from local farmers so the menu is always changing. So great! Must go!
