Great location next to rondout creek but bad food. A local diner is better. Ordered a crabcAke sandwich which was one inch thick and mostly breadcrumbs. Also had a reall bad oyster po’ boy that was in a wrap instead of a hoagie and was tasteless. Fries were good. I suggest ordering a beer and fries and enjoy the view.

I loved this place. We went on a Monday evening so it wasn’t overly crowded. We sat outside in a comfy outdoor patio type of table overlooking the water. Had the salt and pepper calamari for an app and it was amazing. Cooked perfectly. Then for entrees the fried shrimp and the bacon pineapple wrapped shrimp tacos. Both were equally delicious. waitstaff was on point and friendly. It was a really great dinner in a awesome little town for a fair price. Id give 5 stars BUT the tartar sauce they brought us was terrible. Not sure if it was bad, or they just added wayyy too much lemon, or maybe it was made with miracle whip mayo. Idk something didn’t taste right there. At any rate, id deff go back!

Staff is friendly enough & always have fresh lobster. The only problem is that you need to get there on the early side because they always run out of their amazing prime rib!

Cute place in a great location and the staff was friendly and trying hard but, with the exception of the shrimp risotto, the food was not good or worth the expensive price. The lobster bisque was more like tomato soup and the soft shell crabs were not– the shell had definitely hardened.

Stopped in on a beautiful afternoon. Told thr hostesswe were going to sit at he bar. Bartender ignored us. Hostess went behind the bar, she ignores us too. Then both the hostess and bartender left the car altogether. We gave up and decided to try somewhere rlse.

We were very disappointed. We shouldn’t have ignored the bad reviews. No vegetable is given with your meal. No salad or soup was offered by our waitress, yet moments later at the table next to us, she offered them. We felt some kind of way about that especially after seeing there was no greenery on the plate. The food was underwhelming for the price. Never again.

Teetering between 3 and 4 stars on this one. Great location on the water, plenty of outdoor space to eat, probably more so than indoor. Service professional and efficient yet a tad unenthused. The lunch menu has a modest selection. We chose an appetizer(fried calamari) and an entrée(blackened tilapia) and added a side salad. The fried calamari was fresh and enjoyable. The side salad featured fresh greens, garbanzo beans, house dressing, it’s good. The tilapia entrée was just ok. the fish serving was small and didn’t have a zesty blackened taste to it. It came with rice, veggies, and a mango salsa. It was a good entrée, missing that x factor. Mariner’s Harbor is certainly worth another visit, and I will likewise try their local competition for comparison.

Overall my experience here was good. My friends and I decided to eat here on a whim. It was a nice day and asked to sit outside. The waiter quickly greeted us, asking if we preferred sparkling water or tap. I was somewhat surprised that our tap water was served in cheap plastic cups, like those you would have at a house party. I am not quite sure why that is seeing as one friend ordered a soda and it was served in a normal cup(not glass, but the hard plastic). Oh well. No big deal. The food was good, although the lunch menu was limited. Overall not a bad experience.

Lobster ravioli and soups de pesca, yum! A busy Friday night with an outdoor band but great service, good food, fun times.

First time here. Ate outside which was very nice. Food was reasonably priced. I had fish and chips. Thought there could be a little more fish, but it was good. My wife had crab cakes and a salad. Cakes were good and she had a huge dinner salad. Over all a good place. Forgot to add… they really do need to get some decent bread to serve with the meal and it should be warm.

Not only was the lobster bisque creamy and essentially perfect, the mariners delight(a seafood platter) was cooked superbly despite it being scallops, lobster, salmon, and shrimp on one plate. The service was very friendly and even though it did not feel like they took particularly long they insisted on apologizing with free sambuca. This place is a classy act, and the aesthetics were charming too.

Had a wonderful dinner! Went on a Friday night and we were seated right away outside. Had the salmon and it was cooked perfectly, served hot and I throughly enjoyed it! We will be going back again. We were very surprised by the service, quality of the food and the price.

I’m not sure why this restaurant has received so many bad reviews. I took my boat up to Kingston and docked at the Kingston waterfront on the Rondout Creek so I could grab a bite to eat. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. Most of the outdoor seating was full, but the hostess was still able to seat my group as soon as we arrived. The waitress immediately came to the table and took our drink orders, followed by our dinner orders. The food came out very quickly. The menu was extremely overpriced, but the food was good and it was a decent sized portion. The waitress followed up, but it began taking forever toward the end of our meal. It was like pulling teeth to get the bill, followed by a very lengthy wait to pay the bill. After we were done eating, we sat there for almost 30 minutes waiting for the bill to come and for the waitress to come back and take the credit card. Otherwise, the service was phenomenal and the staff were attentive and friendly. The only reason I’m giving it 4 stars and not 5 is because everything is so overpriced here.

Overpriced. Dinner was skimpy and vey expensive. Not worth a 2nd try. My meal was over cooked and cold. My wife ordered zuppa di peci. So very little for this very over priced meal. Will not return.

Rude hostess and staff wouldn’t allow us to eat out on the empty giant back deck with our extremely well behaved dog. They were not slightly apologetic. Such a shame. Will never return or recommend.

Great place for a decent meal by the river… Nice views of the Hudson River and marina, casual atmosphere and great food… A must stop in Kingston if you’re looking for a nice meal by the waterfront.

Returned with the hubby and a friend for a meal on 5÷16÷2014. We shared the scallops wrapped in bacon. One person had the sword fish special, one had the King Prime Rib and I had the Prime Rib/Shrimp Scampi dinner. We ordered a bottle of wine. Gotta tell ya – raves all around. I know that previous reviews have talked about inconsistent quality of food. I’m hoping that as the season begins, Mariner’s has stepped it up and focused on food. We’re now locals and I hoped this can be our go-to place for company(the view is beautiful) and day-to-day. Also, raves for our server Michelle. Above and beyond.

What a disappointment! Yes the location is great, nice and beautiful along the river. But too bad for the food. It is boring and just looks like diner food in a nicer plate. Service was fine, polite and helpful. This is why I give the two stars: location and service. I may come back just for a draft beer at dusk.

Came here on Memorial Day for lunch. Our waitress was a little slow and didn’t bring out any bread until we asked for it. I ordered a cup of the clam chowder and the Thai Chicken Lettuce Wrap. The chowder was nothing special and the lettuce wrap was mostly cabbage, little chicken pieces, and too sweet. Nice view on the patio though.
