We had an awesome experience at this shop –skis, boots, poles and helmets for me and the two surly tweenagers. The staff from were laid back and super nice and hilarious. And the manager(whose name I forgot, sorry dude!) was great, too. Free boot carriers, free stickers, and discounts for the wee ones :) We’ll go back any time we’re back in Tahoe — don’t waste your money renting at the resort!

Great place! The whole renting process is really fast and the people working there are very friendly. If you want to rent for the following day, you can rent as early as 4pm on the day before, and you can also bring the stuff back on the day after by 10am, still for the 1 day rate. The prices are great, too: the 1-day snowboard package for my 10-year old daughter was 17.40(+99c for an optional damage waiver + tax) while at Northstar it would have cost $ 35. Would recommend for sure!

Awesome place — reminds me of Snorkel Bob’s in Hawaii. Lot’s of gear to choose from using a really organized process. ALL of the«ski bums»(they’re lingo) were so friendly and knowledgeable. Snow board rental with boots at Sugarbowl was $ 60 for my 14yo and only $ 22WITH a helmet at Tahoe Dave’s. This is our new go-to spot for rental — can’t say enough great things about them. Keep up the good work!

Late Review* I had a great experience with Tahoe Dave’s my first time snowboarding. I arrived late in the afternoon(I was actually their first customer of the season). I was a complete newbie so they explained the basics of what gear was necessary and other good advice. I returned my ski rentals a day early and they gave me a discount voucher for the next time I came. Although I haven’t been back in almost a year, I still remember the GREATCUSTOMERSERVICE. They may have military discount, just ask!

This is the go-to rental shop in North Tahoe. They have one or two other locations around the lake as well. All of the guys who work here are super helpful and friendly — they want to make sure you have fun while you’re here playing! I bring all of my friends here that need to rent gear. A good location right off the main road matched with quality rental boots, skis, and fair prices make them a top choice for the area. If you can’t make it in by 8pm to return your gear, no problem! You have until 10am the next day to get that all back to the shop. My friend left her poles in the other car when we returned gear on Sunday evening — «nbd» they said! «Just bring em back when you can.» Right on. Did you forget a hat, gloves, sunscreen, goggles, or stomp pad? No problem. They have you covered. Want a local-brand souvenir? They carry Big Truck hats, too! The only reason this was a 4-star review instead of a fiver is because the girl who was working there on Sat night was not so friendly or patient with us when the shop was pretty empty. I guess it was Valentine’s Day and she was still working when it was dark, so it was probably a long day. Upon returning gear on Sunday she seemed to be in better spirits.

I stopped by this place because it was close to the cabin I was staying at. I must say the staff here is friendly & customer service oriented. Quick, friendly service & their rental pricing was decent. I would definitely be going back to Tahoe Dave’s for my future ski rental equipment. SUPPORTTHISLOCALBUSINESS!

This place is great, especially after the experience we had at Tahoe Bike and Ski down the street. The difference was night and day. We arrived around when they opened and the place was already bustling. I was surprised at how many people were in the shop, but there were also plenty of employees to help everyone out. They had some pretty good snowboard equipment, especially for rentals, and we managed to get in and out very quickly, which usually doesn’t happen in my experience with renting equipment. These people know how to run a business. It has better equipment than the resorts and it’s significantly cheaper.

While not thinking about ski edges when I was driving by the night before, on my way to Northstar I stopped at Tahoe Dave’s. I was greeted with smiling faces by all the employees. I asked if they could sharpen my ski’s, they said normally they could not because of the rental rush, but they could take them today. Done in less than 30 minutes and out the door, affordable price. Good job Tahoe Dave’s.

The staff is excellent and gear top notch. In & out on the slopes all at a reasonable cost. Fantastic service, local knowledge goes the distance without a hitch.

Went here on the first of the new year(late review) but it was enjoyable enough to write one about a month and half later. Found this place kind of by accident as it’s along the main road. Casual atmosphere with laid back and knowledgeable staff and the shop is laid out to maximize the flow of customers. The snowboards and shoes were a great deal for the day and were in great condition. We also rented snow pants, gloves, and helmets(I’m thankful they were recommended to us, I can’t believe I hadn’t thought of it myself). It was very convenient to be able to return the gear to which ever branch at the end of the day too. I put 2 $‘s because snowboarding in general is pretty expensive, but I felt like the whole experience was a fair exchange. The staff were very helpful and patient as that was our first time snowboarding/being in Lake Tahoe. They had recommendations on how to get on/off the lift, which peak to go to, etc. Only one guy seemed a bit cranky and no nonsense — I think it was because it was beautiful out but he had to work and answer all our amateur questions =/ I would definitely go back here and recommend this place if the Sports Basement near me went out of stock or something(sorry Tahoe Dave’s, it’s cheaper for me to go local on rentals and on lift tickets)

This is now my go to place for rentals if ever I need it when I go to north tahoe!!! It’s very laid back and the people here are very helpful!!! It was my first time renting because I usually bring my own skis. The rental guys were very helpful when it came to explaining which package I should chose and why. They are inexpensive which was also a plus!!! Great customer services guys!!! See you next time I head up!!!

My family and I have been renting from Tahoe Dave’s for the past two years. We also get great service and great deals for their rentals. One of the awesome workers here talked to my cousin about snowboarding boots for a bit. He seemed really knowledgeable about all the newest gears and gave my cousin a great recommendation. No one was trying to pressure us to buy any equipment or anything. They were all very patient with us while we were getting fitted for boots. The atmosphere at TD is pretty chill and I’d definitely use them again. Their boards and boots are in pretty good shape. I think the rental package was around $ 32 for board+boots and $ 16 – 18 for the shoes themselves. There is a lot of parking in front of this small shop so you won’t have to worry about not finding a spot.

This is my first time to rent an equipment from them. I like their no nonsense style. We walked in. Explained to them what we need and for how long and bam! It’s in our hands or feet asap :). In n Out in less then 10 minutes. It took longer to write all the info on the piece of rental agreement! What’s a standout deal with Dave’s is that you can return your equipment to any of their branch. They have at least four! IT is less hassle! If I need a rental agin I will definitely go back to Dave’s :)

Any time I’m in North Shore with pals that don’t have their own gear, I take ‘em to Dave’s. It is cheaper, faster and easier than renting on the mountain, plus the employees are way cool and know their way around the local terrain. If you need to rent ski or snowboard gear, you won’t be disappointed by Tahoe Dave’s.
