Moved here from Mississippi a few days ago an have had BBQ all thru the south… This is by far in the top 5. The prime rib on the weekends is excellent and priced well, an the cream corn is the best I’ve ever had. Really dig the way you get food here with goin to the counter an knockin it all out at once. Will definitely eat here again.

Big bro decided to smoke brisket at home, so we got some sides here. Lotsa parking outside! Lots of people inside. There was a line, but it moved pretty fast. Ordered the new potatoes, creamed corn, cole slaw and beans. While waiting for all that, I watched and observed all other orders going on around me. All the meat they served looked really good! Good enough for me to maybe have a sit-down meal here! Service was fast and came with a smile. Will definitely return given the chance…

Food is always amazing. Breakfast tacos are delicious. Staff is always friendly. Best brisket I’ve consistently gotten in Killeen over four years living here.

Love the brisket. Nice bark on it, good smoke flavor, the«wet» is nice and juicy. I enjoy bringing my Rudy’s cup and getting a drink for $ 0.75. Sauces are a little thin but have excellent flavor and some heat. Free pickles! Free bread! Free peppers! I’m in love!

I’ve only been in Killeen for less than 6 months and I think I’ve been to Rudy’s at least 4 times. I’m not sure if it’s because 1) it’s the one of the only legit restaurants here 2) I live 10 minutes away 3) or if it’s because their BBQ is truly damn good. Everything I’ve had so far(key word: so far) have been up to par. I have no complaints. Service is great, they’re always so polite & attentive. I’ve had their brisket(moist), baby back ribs, pulled pork sandwich, jalapeño/regular sausage banana pudding, chocolate pudding, coleslaw, and potato salad. Everything is by pound except for the sides and desserts which is either small or large sizes. They also have warm sides. Unlimited bread(Yassss) –white or wheat. Parking here is no problem… if you’re low on gas, they also have a gas station in front. They also have a mini store inside where you can buy random stuff like bluebell ice cream, tshirts, etc…

I ordered a group meal for my promotion party on post, and it was perfect! The meal came with everything I needed including plates, napkins, BBQ sauce, drinks, and even ice. Marcell delivered everything on his own and even helped my family set everything up. I am so grateful to Marcell and Rudy’s for helping my day go so smoothly.

So tasty. This was the first BBQ we’ve tried since moving to Texas, and we’ll definitely be back. I didn’t know that turkey could taste so good. If it’s your first time going, and you tell them, they will give you a little sample of each meat type before you place your order. The sides leave a little to be desired as there isn’t much choice, but they have lots of drinks to choose from, so that was good. The staff are very nice, and helpful when it comes to samples or explaining the menu. I definitely recommend stopping by, and don’t be bothered by the fact that it’s attached to their gas station. The best BBQ I’ve had was also attached to a gas station in Kansas City.

BBQ by the lb, This fast casual style restaurant looks a bit like a roadhouse /gas station /bbq pit. You order in line, they load up a basket of food, then you pick your table and care for yourself. The meat is the features and it was great. I had a side of stew, also great. The sauce is a Carolina style, not my favorite. Good family place, reasonable prices. Tip, you dont have to order ½ lb as the me N.J. U says, you can specify less or more.

My 2nd favorite place in town for BBQ. Everything is great. Be prepared to spend a good amount of money. It’ll be worth it though!

I’ve had better barbecue but their customer service is exactly what I expect from an establishment. Their pork ribs and moist brisket are good! So is their Ruby’s beans and cream corn. My daughter just loves their corn. I especially love their sissy sauce. Lol. I do like that if you buy a large cup, you can bring it back with your next visit(we will be going back) and just pay a refill price of .75 instead of buying a new cup.

This is our go-to for bbq in this area. We haven’t found anything better yet here so far, which is surprising because this is Texas. Lol. Their cream corn is soo delicious.

I may be in the margin here, but I loved Rudy’s, and I found it much better than Franklin BBQ. Give me 30 seconds to turn and squint before you shoot me! 1. GET The SAUSE! Spicy, tangy, perfect BBQ sauce. I bought 6 bottles to bring home. It was that good. 2. Pork ribs: They are not FALLAPART tender, and that’s what I prefer. They aren’t mushy and have a very beautiful texture. I loved the ribs. 3. Brisket: It was a bit drier than the other BBQ places I went to, but that was a good thing. 4. Not sure if it’s a Texas thing, but everywhere we went, you got very yellow potato salad that tasted strongly of mustard. Rudy’s was the mildest of all though and the most palatable for me. I know it’s a chain and everyone poo poo’s a chain, but if you want the full Texas BBQ experience, Rudy’s is a must try.

My go to Local TXBBQ which the family loves. I even had my BDay dinner there with friends. So yeah, we like this place and great service and hey, can’t beat having a military discount too!

This place is good but not great. There are other BBQ restaurants in the Killeen area that offers better BBQ. But that’s just my opinion. The best thing on the menu to me, is their pulled pork. Couldn’t stop eating it, it was delicious. I’m usually a potato salad and pinto beans type of girl.(Potato salad is yummy, pinto beans tasted a little bland.) but I was recommended to try the creamed corn. I was told it was one of their best sides. To me it was also bland. It needed some salt. Their ribs, brisket and Turkey is also very good. On another note, the workers there are very friendly. The restaurant itself is clean and very nicely decorated. It’s a comfortable place to eat. And I don’t mind going back there to eat again.

Hurts me to say this because I LOVERUDY’S! The one in Austin, TX never disappoints but I guess this location had an off night. When you walk up to the counter they are suppose to say«Hi you’ve been to Rudy’s before right?» Didn’t get that… didn’t even get a hello or how are you… all I got was«For here or to go?» Hmm ok. My brisket was supposed to be extra moist instead I got a few slices of fat with bread. The server might have known that if he asked me «How’s that brisket look?» Like they are suppose to as well. Sprite was watered down. Glad my boyfriend isn’t picky and ate his as well as mine. I’ll stick to the Rudy’s in Austin from now

My first time here so I’ll try to be objective. We went to Rudy’s for lunch, it wasn’t busy by any means, so the service was quick and easy. I ordered the brisket sandwich, being raised in the south, finding a great brisket isn’t too hard. I was fairly disappointed. The taste was OK, but it was very tough, the buns, in my opinion, should have the option of being toasted. I loved the décor of the place, it was clean and the people were super friendly. We will go again and I will try a different item. Hopefully it will be better next go round.

Gave them another chance today, big mistake! Ordered moist brisket sandwich with little bark and got a dry sandwich with a lot of bark. Threw it in the trash. Ordered two pork ribs and one had meat on it and the other was burnt bark and no edible meat left on it. I’m in the sales business and know many people here and will spread the word around. Poor business practice and horrible food is a losing combination.

To start off I will say, brisket was decent. We ordered 2 jumbo baked potatoes with brisket on top, half chicken, and half sausage link. A great well rounded and fulfilling choice. What I found very odd was the emptiness of the place, because Rudy’s is usually packed. My family has frequented various locations including Pharr, New Braunfels, Corpus, San Antone, to name a few. I have never seen a place as empty as Killeen Rudy’s. Very odd, especially in Central Texas. The wait time was ridiculously long. There were only 3 people in line including myself and maybe 10 people in dining area including my wife and kid. I didn’t time the wait but would guess around 25 minutes or more. For the wait, I would expect a much better product. Brisket was decent. Sausage was old. Chicken was cold and slightly under cooked in middle. I only do slightly pink on steaks, not poultry! I casually mentioned the food not tasting fresh to an employee. Non apologetic but told me he was glad I let him know about it. I told him thanks and politely he would really know about it if my family got sick. Drinks were horrible. Tea was not fresh and was watered down. They had no syrup to fountain so we had to start off with tea. The Diet Coke and my Dr. Pepper had a funky chemical taste. My wife and I like the BBQ sauce they call«Sissy Sause.» Funny spelling but very good compliment to the brisket and great to mask over flavors of not so good cuts of meat. Not sure why my family experienced any of this from a chain restaurant that typically prides itself on a non chain experience. With lack of customers and a large group of employees looking busy, they should do a better job of quality checks and moving the product. I don’t even care the service was sub par. If your product is sooo good that’s what will bring people back. That’s the norm at Rudy’s. But to wait longer than the Austin Rudy’s locations on 183 or Capitol of Texas(where the service is usually mediocre but the food is consistent) and to have cue that tastes more like Dickey’s than Rudy’s, is unacceptable.

I’m a fan of all things Rudy’s in the Austin/Round Rock area, and when I found myself in Killeen for business one morning I decided to stop in for a breakfast taco. What an amazing disappointment. I was really shocked. The service was fine, but not friendly. At the Rudy’s in Round Rock I normally go to they are incredibly nice. I can deal with«fine, but not friendly» service but it was such a stark contrast to what I normally get it is getting a mention in my review. The breakfast taco(bacon, egg, cheese) was pretty bland. I don’t think the eggs were seasoned when they were cooked, and the bacon slice was much thinner than at the Round Rock Rudy’s. The salsa only came in one flavor/spiciness, and it wasn’t particularly good. I had to navigate the awkward beverage station in the convenience store section to get a cup of coffee, and that was the most annoying part of the trip. Ultimately it was a let down. I’m glad the Rudy’s in Round Rock is so much better at breakfast.

Rudy’s is a nice local chain BBQ worth checking out. Where else can you fill up your car’s gasoline tank as well as your belly? I didn’t peruse the country store, but I assume there’s neat merchandise and other retail items to buy along with bottles of Rudy’s bbq sauce. I’ve only visited a separate location in McAllen, TX previously, and the setup is familiar. Every visit should be a «First Time». Let them know, so they can cut you a free sample of their savory smoked meats. It’s all good eats and after some brisket, ribs, sausage, and sides, I’m ready for a nap. The sauces are a nice, peppery compliment and I appreciate that nothing is slathered. Basting is one thing, but I simply prefer the meat to be the star of the dish and not be drowning in sauce. Service is prompt and efficient. Even the friendly folks working the dining area try to keep tables cleared, even though there’s posted signage reminding customers to clean up after themselves, in good ol’ country cheeky fashion, of course. Low on fuel and BBQ? Well, look no further because Rudy’s got you covered.
