Excellent breakfast place. The owner is always on the floor interacting with the customers and made us feel like family. The food was excellent and is our go-to breakfast place on the island.

Amazing food and great service. Skip the line at Kihei café and come here for even better food and actually sit down and enjoy your meal. Really love this hidden gem. Would rather not be extremely close to the beach but have great food and service. If you are in Kihei definitely check them out!

My daughter and visited here when we asked for a local breakfast spot. Our resort recommended this after prodding for a non-hotel connected place. Wonderful atmosphere with open windows and café music. Food was delicious– I had chèvre omelette and my daughter licked her plate clean after downing banana French toast. Highly recommend!

Hidden in an unassuming and industrial part of Kihei, Chez Meme is a charming little restaurant that made for a great brunch date for my husband and I. We arrived at about 10:30 on Saturday morning and were immediately greeted right when we walked in. It was a beautiful day so we chose a table right outside. Our friendly waitress came right over, made small-talk, handed us menus and offered us coffee. We knew what we wanted to order within a few minutes(croissant breakfast sandwich for Hubs and GF French toast for me). Service was great; our food arrived within 10 minutes, a gentleman coffee topped-off our coffee twice during our meal, and our waitress also came by twice to check on us. Hubs enjoyed his breakfast sandwich, though he did say the potatoes were a little plain and lacked seasoning. My French Toast was perfect — you’d never know it was GF. We really enjoyed our visit and would definitely recommend; I would suggest going on a weekend and sitting outside(about the same time we went — 10:30ish). It being in an industrial location, all the other businesses were closed, so there was ample parking and it was really quiet… perfect when you’re looking for a great breakfast but without all the usual restaurant noise. Definitely plan to go again!

The breakfast was so delicious that I find I was wanting more a couple hours later! I had the Chèvre omelet with delicious potatoes, homemade toast and jam. Prior to that we shared a filled croissant with a mix of berries & it was incredible. Hubby had a ham, Swiss cheese & caramalized onion omelet. Coffee was delicious. But this is the great part — the service was number one. We choose outside seating(very pleasant) and were not forgotten. Funny, adorable waiters with terrific service skills. We will be back many times! Mahalo.

For the first time my wife and I ate breakfast here today and had great omelets. The chef, Caleb, did a great job and the homemade bread was quite delicious. The homemade jam was excellent as well. Our server was Lauren who was very knowledgeable, friendly, and quite a joy. We look forward to coming back for lunch.

This was our first breakfast after arriving in Maui. Upon entering the restaurant, it took quite a while for us to be seated — no wait staff were in sight. Later we learned that there was just one guy on the floor, Chuck. He was very personable, funny and friendly and offered his honest opinions on the menu items(rather than«I dunno, everything is great» he noted which dishes he preferred). Delicious breakfast. The only one star missing is due to service initially being quite slow.

$ 15 Bacon and Egg Croissant sandwich $ 8.50 Yogurt and Granola bowl $ 2 can of Diet Coke Reads like resort pricing to me. I expected some pretty amazing food and service. The food was fairly average. The restaurant location is right smack in the middle of car rentals, cars sales, service shops, boat service and rental, etc. so, I really expected more as far as the food goes. Especially given the price. Both of the items above really lacked any special qualities or imagination. The granola bowl was just granola a dollop of yogurt and half a sliced banana on the side. How about a drizzle of honey, fresh pineapple and a few flakes of toasted coconut? Mehh

My dad used to own Christine’s Restaurant in Lahaina, years ago. He used to say«the bitterness of poor quality lasts long after the sweetness of a low price is long forgotten». I don’t know where he got that quote from but it was wise. Chez Meme proved that today… but in a good way! Located in a tucked away building in an industrial area of Kihei, this little café was quite the find for us. I ordered the spinach and tomato Eggs Benedict, my husband ordered the French toast and my daughter had a homemade croissant with mango-ginger jam. The food was, for the most part, spectacular! The place was busy, and I think the kitchen was having a little issue(we heard a few shouts, curses, «you gotta be KIDDING me», and one mighty crash). Food took a while to come out, but it wasn’t an excessively long wait. However, the table next to ours got my order of veggie eggs benedict and they shook their heads to indicate that they hadn’t ordered it. So, their server took it back and returned to that table with the correct dish. Shortly afterwards, my family was served and our server told me that my eggs looked a little over done to her(I asked for soft poached) so she asked the kitchen to re-do them, which meant it would be a few more minutes before my dish would be ready. My family sat and waited patiently and when my dish was set before me, we dug in. Their dishes had gone a little cold by then but they both reported that it was delicious. Mine was also delicious, albeit a little cold. The eggs were indeed done perfectly but I suspect that when my dish was presented to that other table and then returned to the kitchen, it likely sat under a warmer which ultimately resulted in the over cooked eggs. Our server’s sharp eye noted the hardness of the poached eggs and, instead of remaking the Benedict, the kitchen simply redid the eggs. This resulted in soggy toast sitting in a puddle of cold, congealed hollandaise and topped with perfectly soft-poached eggs and then topped with a bit of warm hollandaise. The potatoes on the side, while delicious, were also cold. I have to say that despite the unsuccessful dish, the flavours were still good and I wasn’t planning on complaining. I merely made a mental note that this likely wasn’t going to be my favourite breakfast place and then I ate until I was full. When the server checked on us in the middle of our meal, I honestly waved my hand in a so-so gesture but kept on eating because I was hungry and it really was tasty… just not well executed. Our server stopped by our table immediately and asked what she could do to make our meal better. I gave her my honest feedback about my dish but I wasn’t upset and I didn’t demand anything at all. A few minutes later, she stopped at our table again and I thanked her for checking on us after my so-so gesture. I thought it was very good of her to ask how she could make meal better. Seeing as I ate more than half of my meal, I most certainly did not ask for or expect a discount. I just appreciated that she cared enough to come back and ask what she could do. Many places will simply let that kind of feedback go and call it a miss. But our server insisted on making things right. She removed the charge for my breakfast, which both pleased and unsettled me. If the food had been so distasteful that I couldn’t enjoy it, I could understand the free meal. But this wasn’t the case. Our server insisted that they didn’t want us to walk away unhappy, and we didn’t. This was a mini-miss for us but I believe that if the kitchen had made a new Benedict and kept the potatoes warm, this would have been a perfect plate. What I really appreciate is that they cared so much about our opinion of their restaurant, they could not let us leave without making up for a lack of perfection! That sweet quality is what will last for us. Yeah… I recommend this place and I’d go back and order the same thing.

I’m Korean First time try breakfast this place I wait 40 minutes and then realized that other people that came after us were getting there food. So I asked the waiter what was going on and he replied that they got the orders mixed up. And wasn’t apologetic by no means. I would encourage all local people to stay away from this place because they’re not concerned with local people. At that point we got up and left. And coffee wasn’t hot nor was it any good.

My review is not comprehensive as I have only visited once, and that was for breakfast… And I did not have any of their baked goods. The place was quiet on the Sunday morning I visited, and the service was superb. Frequent check-backs without being intrusive. Excellent. I ordered an omelette with Gruyère and ham. The flavor of the cheese was excellent. The shell of the omelette was fairly pale yellow in color, suggesting the eggs were from a typical battery farm(perhaps not). I would also guess that it was cooked in some sort of cooking oil rather than butter(I forgot to ask). The home fries were a little mushy and tasted of margarine or similar oil. The toast came pre-«buttered» with what had to be margerine given the taste. However, they provided a delicious three-berry jam that took fair toast and turned into something worth finishing! I would go back and try something else, asking a few more questions when I ordered. But considering the meal I had, I am giving Chez Meme three stars for this visit, with the service having been five star.

Chez Meme… it took me a few tries to get down how to pronounce this place. I got it, and now I won’t forget! This place is awesome! A friend planned a working lunch here. There was plenty of space for our party of 9, with room for more. Our server asked if any of us had been there before and since only a couple people had, he explained how it all worked and made us feel very comfortable about asking questions. I had a really hard time deciding between breakfast and lunch. It’s like the hardest decision ever for me. Since it was after noon and I was kinda feeling sandwich-y. So, Cordon Bleu it was. Chicken, Ham, Mozzarella and Cheddar with a Dijon mustard. Oh yes. It was mine. Along with a salad and a glass of water with lemon. I thought it was notable to mention: two times in the hour and a half that I was there, I saw women sitting alone, reading and eating. This place has to give off a great vibe to have that happen, right? it kinda does have a homey feel so it’s only right that I saw this. Our food came quickly and the presentation was great. My sandwich was so flavorful. The dijon mustard was so good. and the bread(!!) so good. Every person at our table loved their meal. Not a scrap was left behind. The space here is open and airy. There is a nice breeze coming in. It’s quiet, clean and well lit. Checks were presented in their each individual vintage book. So cool and unique! If you haven’t been here yet, add it to your list. It’s a hidden gem!

The restaurant is in an industrial neighborhood. To park in the parking lot you have to take a side road to access it. Large windows with great screen covers so it has a great indoor/outdoor feel. Place is very clean. Decorating attempt looks like Ross more than France. We ordered the eggs Benedict with ham and the French toast trio. I wasn’t impressed by either. The apples on French toast were nicely cooked and flavored. Whip cream melted before you got through the first piece of French toast. Plain cheap maple syrup. The side of potatoes with Benedict were nicely flavored and cooked. But I’ve had better eggs Benedict. Portion was small, the plate looked full due to an overdone pice of toast with a meager offering of jam.

Update. Burt had to drop a couple stars off Chez Meme. The fish tacos have changed. They are not the same as they were last year. Now they put pesto on the fish. Burt says WTF?! The latte is not the same either. Not as good. Burt doesn’t know what’s the problem. New owners? New chef? New manager? Whatever– Burt says NOTASGOOD Burt is very disappointed.

We found this little gem right here on Unilocal. It’s tucked away so you really have to look. When we first walked in I noticed the homemade turnovers. We tried the triple berry… Mmm sooo good! In fact I’m craving one right now. I ordered the banana French toast. What kicks up their French toast is the homemade brioche bread. Oh sooo good. They also use it for their toast along with homemade jam! You won’t be sorry for trying this place. We will definitely go back.

I decided to stop here on a friend’s suggestion because I had a doctors appointment in the area. First time I was here I sat inside in their airy one-room restaurant. The whole time I was inside I was longingly looking at the outdoor patio section and knew that’s where I would be the next time. Unbelievably the waitress who had me last week remembered my name. I couldn’t remember her name, sadly. When the drink came it was exactly as ordered last week down to the almond milk detail. Impressive really! Who actually does that these days on Maui? Kendall at Chez Meme does that! This time I ordered the eggs benedict with capers and smoked salmon. Delicious! You could have your eggs cooked three different ways… I chose medium so it had just the right amount of runny-ness but not too much. And don’t get me started about those cute little mini toasts at the bottom of each egg! So cute!!! All of their bread is homemade and I had to try their French toast for the first time. Kendall suggested I try the strawberries on the French toast and not wrong. Just the right amount of sweet and tart to go with the homemade French toast. I look forward to heading back!

I learned about Chez Meme by online reviews when I was looking for a new restaurant to try. They serve breakfast all day, but they also have sandwiches, which is what I was craving. The location is a little out of the way, but it’s not hard to find. There’s a large parking lot in back, and the owner told me that people are able to leave bicycles against the building. I arrived at 1:45pm — shortly before their closing time of 2pm. I was able to place my to-go order. The server was friendly and helpful. The owner came out to talk with me, and he was very nice. There’s a sister restaurant near Vancouver, Canada. The food was fresh and good. I had the daily special — mahi mahi with rice and a salad with a goat cheese or creamy butter topping. I was able to try both. I also ordered a Beef Bourguignon sandwich to take to work since I was told it reheats well. It was also very good! All in all, the food is top notch, the restaurant is clean, and the service is friendly. If you arrive after 12pm, the pastries are 2 for 1.

Seeking a brunch place after a quick bite, a Unilocal bakery search brought us here. It’s not far from our hotel, about a fifteen minute drive from the Grand Wailea and definitely has a local feel. As you walk up the steps, you feel as if you are entering someone’s home, which it probably was at some time. The menu is posted in front and their baked goods are generally displayed at the front counter which was bare by the time we arrived around 11 am on a recent Sunday morning. We decided to have lunch here and there were only three or four occupied tables. There are three dining areas: outside to the left of the building or either of two dining sections separated by a walkway to the kitchen and a restroom(the other restroom for men’s is outside and to the right). After debating between a breakfast meal or a sandwich, I chose the beef bourguinon sandwich( ). The sauce was nicely flavored and decent amount of onions but wished a bit more mushrooms… me and my shrroooooms! The beef was less of a beef stew or chunk and more like a pulled pork texture though the flavors were consistent with the red wine sauce profile. Our young waiter was both enthusiastic and had that aloha spirit in refilling water glasses and checking on our needs. Wish we got to try more things but, as you know, timing is everything! Would stop by again if in the area and hope to try some of their daily specials which are made with local ingredients and fruits.

I forgot we had been here last year but after seeing the menu I’m pretty sure I had the goat cheese omelet last year as well. Portions are generous here and food is pretty tasty. Service is nice here. The drawback to this place? There are way too many flies to sit back and leisurely enjoy your food. Maybe it was the particular day but I eventually found myself hovering over my meal because the effort of constantly shooing flies off my plate/glass we too much to deal with.
