Ice cream was good but $ 4 a scoop is a bit outrageous I don’t care how homemade your ice-cream is. Owner seemed to bark at the staff and I would say was even nasty to to them. She’s the ice-cream nazi of ice cream parlor owners, I guess. If you are close by, sure, stop in. But nothing worth going out of the way for.

Ice cream was expensive, Manager was rude, store seemed pretty commercially.

Steamy days call for something cool and refreshing, so when I saw the neon ice cream sign I made a beeline for the Key West Ice Cream Factory. It’s a pretty standard ice cream shop with the usual flavors, nothing special, similar to a Baskin Robbins but with fewer flavors. I found prices high, almost $ 4 for a scoop of ice cream. Getting a cone instead of a cup would have added to the price tag. Plus, there was an air of desperation with the owner standing in the doorway trying to lure every passerby into the shop, much like a barker at the carnival. If you’re in the mood and walking by, sure, stop in. But there’s no need to seek it out.

Walking along the dock, I happened upon this little ice cream shack. A little out of the view from the moving traffic, so there is never really that many people in here. I asked for a sample because I just cannot decide which one I want more: the Rum Raisin or the mint chocolate. Somehow I ended up with both, one scoop each. It is not the most impressive ice cream I have ever tasted(there is some crunchy ice in the ice cream) but it is still pretty good, because it cool me a little in the 86 degree afternoon sun.

We had this on our list being an ice cream connoisseur. I has Key Lime pie ice cream and my husband had Key West Coconut ice cream. It is all home made and they use 14& butter fat which is the richest formula available. It is located right on the boardwalk at the Historic Key West Seaport! The prices wee reasonable nothing out of the ordinary would be cheap if in NY so we thought the prices were reasonable and if you think they are expensive splurge you’re on vacation! They have a café serving meals but we only had ice cream and we went a few times since it was so hot. My hubby wasn’t prepared for the heat. Not as hot as a NYC summer heat wave but no island breezes and we did quite a bit of walking. There are no cars allowed in certain parts of town and most tourists walk. Having some Key Lime pie ice cream is a perfect way too cool off! It is so hot in Key West the ice cream melts before you are finished eating it!

Ice cream was good, but the most expensive I ran into on the island. Not cool. If going around Christmas, definitely give the Egg Nog a try as it was tasty.
