Scout Moving

I found these movers randomly. The services provided by them were more than acceptable. The devivery was within the time range, the movers professionals and cooperative. I asked them to relocate some of the items and they did it without complaining.
I will recommend scout moving anytime over any other companies !!!

Our family recently relocated from California to Washington and we had the pleasure of using Scout Moving. They were punctual, very professional, and did the job fairly quick. The guys were polite and all our stuff made it without a scratch. I will definitely be recommending this company to others!

I used Scout Moving and Storage for my move from Los Angeles Ca to Seattle Wa. It was a last minute move, they were very helpful, professional, courteous and affordable. Pick-​up and delivery on time, they called me ahead to let me know when exactly they will arrive at my place. No damages, all the furniture was wrapped in blankets and plastic wrap and they really took the time to do it properly. They worked great as a team and I’m very pleased with my choice in hiring Scout Moving. Definitely I will hired them again for my next move.

Very solid move, detailed in following up & timely in arrival. Professional both at pickup and dropoff, super helpful. Have recommended to friends.

Okay. So I am no stranger to moving, after 23 years in the USAF and many moves. So, when I had to move from Seattle to Las Vegas in February 2016, I was fairly confident that I made a good choice after reading both Unilocal*and Angie’sList. The movers came and picked up all the boxes I had already prepared and the furnishings. Right on time. Once I got to Las Vegas is when things got interesting. The apartment I rented was simply horrible, smelled like cat litter, and I did not take it. So let me tell you what Scout did! I called Kayla and talked to her and explained that I could not receive delivery as planned due to unforeseen problems. She personally took it on herself to find a local company to store my belongings and then deliver them once I found another place, which took me about 3 weeks! And I have to tell you, every thing was delivered just last Friday (4÷8÷16) by a local affiliate of Scout — all the boxes looked like they had just been picked up (no damage to them) and the furnishings were perfect, no scratches at all. Not one thing was missing. Kayla was there to help me through the entire event. I can’t recommend Scout Moving enough!

Having moved around a lot having been in the Navy, I’ve used a number of moving companies in the past, these guys facilitated my move near flawlessly.
I did have one issue of a piece of furniture being scratched, but the insurance paid for the damage. One thing to note is to be very thorough in both inventorying and inspecting your stuff before and after it’s delivered, Some other companies are so eager to get your stuff on and off the truck, they make you feel rushed, Scout wasn’t like that, they let me go through everything until i was satisfied.
I was surprised to see other reviewers have had trouble contacting someone at Scout, I had no problems and my experience was professional and courteous. Especially for as stressful as moving is.

I will start by saying that Scout did lose a couple boxes in my move from Portland to Chicago. However, their relocation coordinator, Denton, really advocated for me. When their insurance didn’t provide enough of a compensation for my items, Scout offered to compensate me directly. Not dollar for dollar, of course, but they were a fairer offer than the insurance.
Denton especially should get a gold star. When faced with an upset customer, he was kind, patient, and explained what he could do, and kept up an honest dialogue every step of the way.
I did not have any broken or damaged items. I had a lot of art, and the movers who arrived, Tyler, and his crew even helped me make sure some of my art that wasn’t wrapped well enough, got wrapped for maximum safety.
It should be noted that I actually used Budget Van Lines who then contracted Scout to facilitate my long distance move.

First of all, I grossly misestimated the number of boxes I was going to be moving. The team at Scout was attentive to my calls and emails and helped me stay on track and on budget. Moving is stressful, but by being communicative with them, they were able to assist me before problems or potential bill increases occurred. The movers themselves were prompt, careful, courteous, and efficient. I will absolutely use their services again.

The company cannot be reached and will not return your calls unless they are asking for payment.
The movers stole my boxes marked DVDs, CDs, and Record Albums. Over $ 2000 worth of years of collection and only responded to my issue by telling me to file a claim.
The boxes were not inventoried so they did not show up on my inventory list. Convenient when you have so much activity during moving day.
There was no investigation and all I received was an offer of $ 48 for my missing belongings. 60 cents per pound.
I will not accept the ‘settlement’.
I had irreplaceable movies of my daughter as a baby and of my grandfather playing music.
DO NOT EMPLOY THIS ‘COMPANY’
Use a professional moving company.

The WORST moving company I’ve ever encountered, and I’ve used many. They promise you experience, fast service, and everything else the likes of Mayflower promise, but trust me… these guys are nowhere NEAR Mayflower for quality, service, or professionalism.
Scout dumped us in a big steaming pile of poo and left us there to stew in it. I could go into everything this company did to us but it’s really too upsetting to regurgitate it again here. Lets just say everything went wrong… poor communication, disappearing reps, disappearing trucks, trucks gone off route, house contents delayed by over a month… A MONTH, horrible, HORRIBLE damage to nearly all of our furniture, missing hardware for nearly all of our beds, missing finials from one of of beds (seriously…finials!), damage to our house, strange chalk like dust over all our boxes which wafted into our home on delivery, understaffed delivery (we paid for full service, but I had to do much of the work myself), and that’s just a few of the problems we encountered.
After much chasing after we were offered a miserly refund for a delayed delivery and by miserly, it wouldn’t even cover one night in run down motor inn. Their basic insurance covers nothing and they make the process so horribly painful to claim (three independent assessments that you have to pay for) that eventually you just give up.
Just awful. Run away while you still can. RUN!

Hidden costs, broken furniture.
This company used to have good reviews back when I hired them. I don’t know why. They waited until they had all my things on a truck, then hit me with several unnecessary hidden charges, almost doubling the quoted charge. When my things were finally unloaded (two days late which isn’t horrible in the world of movers I suppose) EVERY SINGLE PIECE of furniture I own was damaged. This is not IKEA furniture. There are deep scratches & holes in my wood cabinets, broken doors & handles on both my dressers, a wood side table broken in half, bar stools with the legs completely bent. The team that unloaded said that nothing was wrapped & should have been. The only things wrapped properly were my framed artwork, mirrors & TV — thanks for small favors.
I have a friend who used Scout at the same time I did and when I asked how it went, he just shook his head & said, «I don’t want to talk about it.» This is not the company to use. You can do better.

I know people crib about movers all the time but I move a lot and this is the only time I think the service was horrible and I thought at least I can save someone the misery by writing a review. Scout movers will give you a great quote but that comes with a price of waiting for your stuff forever It took a month for my stuff to get here. I decided to pay an extra $ 550 to get it expedited but Melissa (manager) bluntly lied on my face and in the end they just dispatched it at the normal schedule.. There are so many clauses in the contract that you overlook but these guys know how to trick the customer. They are all brokers and the booking, pickup, dispatch everything is done by different groups, and that is just a big NO NO while moving long distance. Please stay away from them.

I moved from San Francisco to Chicago and was provided a quote. I even provided a VIDEO that we walked through TOGETHER on the phone and somehow my bill after my items were loaded on the truck jumped $ 1000 because of the «space.» I wonder why this is… hmm…while unpacking I had items like a PLASTIC SHOT GLASS wrapped like it was ready to go into space.
And don’t fall for the «full service» line… they drop off your boxes and bail town like their houses are on fire.
SCAM! I should have used Mayflower!!! I am planning to report this company to the BBB.

I have to echo all the recent reviews — do NOT use this company. What started as a really pleasant experience devolved into one of the worst customer service experiences I’ve ever had.
In the beginning, I found it very easy to get the move set-​up and the price was right. (Although, it should be noted the price I was quoted ended up increasing by nearly $ 700!) The mover that coordinated my move-​out was fantastic — professional, nice, and on time. My boyfriend and I were optimistic about what this meant for the remainder of our move and some friends present during the move out expressed being impressed by them.
Then it all went bad — Scout gave a 3-​week window in which my belongings would be delivered, which ended on ⁷⁄₂₆. They let me know the driver would call 24 hours in advance to schedule an exact time and that I HAD to be available. On ⁷⁄₂₅ I still hadn’t heard from the driver, so I called Scout — oops, no one had bothered to let me know that my stuff hadn’t even been loaded onto a truck and was still in storage. They gave me a new week long window (8÷10−8÷14), which meant more time that I had to leave my schedule flexible for them. On 8/​13, with no word from the driver, I called Scout again — first, I couldn’t get through (because the relocation phone line is always «broken») and then when I finally spoke to someone they made up some excuse about dispatch not telling them my stuff was going to be arriving well past the window I’d been given. They then gave me the window of 8÷15−8÷17.
On ⁸⁄₁₆ I finally received a call from the driver and we scheduled an arrival time on ⁸⁄₁₇. Then, on ⁸⁄₁₇ he called me saying he had a flat tire and we rescheduled to early morning on ⁸⁄₁₈. Later in the evening on ⁸⁄₁₇ I receive a text that the driver is 30 minutes away — what?! I rush around to get home and surprise surprise, he doesn’t arrive for over an hour. When he gets there he (shockingly) can’t pull the truck close to my front door and says that I’ll have to pay all this additional money for either a «long haul» or a shuttle. (Has anyone had Scout not charge them for one of these two things?) When I asked him to show me how he got the long haul charge, I noted that he had rounded up by almost $ 30! At this point we told them to just unload my belongings onto the sidewalk and we’d walk them to my house — I was not giving Scout any more of my money. Multiple boxes were smashed, fragile boxes were stacked upside down under boxes of books, a bookshelf was broken, and many pieces of furniture were scratched. I’ve moved myself across the country twice, using Door-​to-​Door Moving, and both times broken no more than a coffee cup and a snow globe. The issue was NOT my packing skills.
When I emailed Scout (because again, the phone never works) to express my upset at how this process has gone and frustration at their compensation for my items arriving so late (over 3 weeks after the end of the window they had given me, more than 1 month after I arrived), I got an email response that was basically «sorry for your experience».
This is the longest Unilocal review I’ve ever written because I cannot state strongly enough how much I want to warn people against this company. Don’t do it!

DO NOT USE SCOUT MOVING!!! No stars if I could.
GREAT upfront service followed by an abrupt and significant decline in the quantity AND quality of service.
I didn’t know where I was moving when I had them pick up and store my things for a month. By the time it came for my things to be delivered they were all of the sudden in «busy season» and damn near impossible to get in touch with. I tried calling at least 10 times and left multiple messages — they finally called me back and we got disconnected 3 separate times. I gave up. The woman said they used the Internet for their phone service and that their «system» had gone down.
Finally got the address to them and they said they would call and give 24 hrs notice before making delivery, no other information was available. 1 week goes by… nothing, another week goes by… NOTHING so I call and the guy apologizes and tells me he doesn’t know why someone didn’t call me but that they were trying to load my small load onto a smaller truck.
…3 WEEKS AFTER I GAVE THEM MY ADDRESS and I get the phone call. He can be there after 5 next day but there will be an added charge… Which by the way was only 1 of 6 added charges they claimed I would need to pay… READ YOUR CONTRACT… they have a ton of additional charges they do not inform you of these upfront. CONSUMER BEWARE these people are out to take your money and they DO NOT deliver an acceptable service.
All other disappointed parties should file a claim with the better business Bureau… I will be!

I went to a website to look for a mover for my move to Portland OR from San Francisco. I talked to 4 different services and had prices from crazy high to ridiculously low ($ 899-​$ 3600 WOW!). I have never used an actual moving company to move before so I really didn’t know what to expect. After talking to all the salesmen I settled on Scout really based on their salespersons general knowledge and willingness to go into detail about how it all worked rather than try to sell me something.
I didn’t have a lot to move but it was certainly more than I could handle on my own. Leading up to moving day Brian was really helpful answering all my packing questions and even pointing me to some helpful resources to get the right packing materials. I had a family emergency about a week before the pick up and I called to reschedule, and expected some kind of friction but they made the change and assured me it was all still on track (HUGE RELIEF).
Move day came and went off without a hitch. Traffic was horrible on the day of but the driver called me to say that they would be 20 minutes late, which in San. Fran. is just the norm so hey, what are you going to do? When the movers got there they just jumped right in. The guys worked hard from start to finish wrapping all my tables and sofas up, which I actually didn’t know they did, but totally awesome! The pick up took about 2 hours and I jumped in my car and drove to Portland to find a new apartment. When I found my new place I emailed in to update the delivery information and they said they would get me into the delivery rotation.
The delivery from California arrived a few days later and the movers brought it all in and even put my bed back together. I did have 1 wine glass that broke but other than that everything was just as I had packed it and I’m totally pumped to be all moved in.

Update: 2 days ago Tim called and said they would put $ 200 back on my card and send me a link to file a claim. In true Scout fashion none of this has been done. I’ve called and emailed countless times since and been ignored.

Just came back to bring this number. Call it! These evil jerks won’t stop until people start fighting back 1−888-DOT-SAFT (368‑7238) Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 AM and 8:00 PM ET.
I can’t remember ever feeling so sick and helpless for so long in my life. I have cried, prayed, hoped, researched, called, written and more for weeks and I’m finally about to cave and try to move on for peace of mind. Below you will see a copy of the email I sent to Scout Moving a week ago after waiting over three weeks for my furniture to be delivered while being lied to day after day about a delivery date and even being tricked into paying them my final payment before delivery because they lied and said they were coming on Sunday and wouldn’t be able to take the payment if I didn’t do it then. When you are desperate and waiting you make stupid decisions and I did.
Since sending the email along with photos which I will post here a guy name TIM called from a blocked number and told me that he would work with me to get a solution. He too has started doing the same spill they always do… promise that they will take care of things the next day. My Mom begged me not to do this in hopes that they would finally help but I am so sick and tired of my new home looking like a construction site filled with unassembled and broken furniture that I just can’t keep quiet and sit back and wait on them any longer. I wish there was a way to do a CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT against these people. If anyone initiates one please contact me.
Also please note that since sending this letter I’ve realized that 3 total boxes were missing all together and the shelves for the unassembled bar are no where to be found. I also noticed more broken glass and more damaged furniture since the letter and Tim and everyone else there have completely ignored me as usual. Seriously, this has caused issues for me personally and professionally and the sickness and tiredness that I feel is unexplainable.
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, whatever you do AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!

Below you will see the damaged door, the wardrobe with a broken leg sitting upside down in the middle of my living room, the other broken wardrobe just thrown into my bedroom not even pushed against a wall and the bar/​shelf that he refused to reassemble after the movers disassembled it in California.
All of this is in addition to him cursing me out and refusing to discuss the move with me prior to him getting here.
It was also delivered a day late according to contract and I was told last Friday that it would be here Sunday so Dylan asked me to make a payment because you would be closed. After that every other day I got lied to about the furniture being on the way.
I’ve had to delay my flight and miss important meetings because of this.
The driver never told me that he would call me 30 minutes prior to delivery so I had to miss work and sit around and hope he would come.
Yesterday he said he’d be here between 8 and noon so I asked him to please come at noon he immediately said no he has to come at 8 or 9 because he had something else to do.
My friend called him after 10 am and he went off on her and told her all he has to tell me is he will be here by noon.
At about 12:45 pm he finally arrived and told me I had to pay him more because he had to walk a long way. I told him to enter through the garage. He claimed he couldn’t get past a tree. I personally see trucks out behind my garage almost daily. This was an out and out lie
(Scout eventually told him to waive the fee)
I attempted to record him as he told me that I owed hi. He said I can’t record him and he ran off without explaining. I called the police (I’d already asked them to come out before because I was terrified)
Someone called me from your office to tell me that I can’t record him. I said fine. About 20 min goes by and someone there says that the driver said that the police said that I would keep recording so he would not unload. I told the police and he said that that wasn’t true and it wasn’t as I put the camera away immediately after he ran off and threatened to leave. I realized days ago that I was dealing with a ticking time bomb and didn’t want to chance him running off.
He was very rude the entire time and I was afraid and on edge. I expect to be fully compensated for this disaster and need these hazards removed from my place immediately.
WARNING: Fragile means throw it around and break 75% of it. This place is pathetic. If you want to be sick to your stomach call them.

STAY AWAY from this moving company! This is probably the worst moving experience I have ever had. I was moving from SF to Seattle with minimum stuff. First the movers were late at SF, but they were cordial and nice. Everything moved smoothly. However, the hidden charges they have are ridiculous. Elevator fee, long carry, big truck to small ones. Everything comes to them so natural. The funny thing is they list all that in the contract. STAY AWAY with this company!!! Because there is no way you can get away with no surcharges after you sign your contract. It will be added by the movers. I am guessing the movers will get extra money if they can add surcharges to customers.
In the end, with a lot of drama with surcharges, delays, they finally came. The mover at Seattle is probably the worst of the whole move. My few items came, but they broke my bed. It was under minimum insurance, which means minimum reimbursement. The coordinator had nothing to say but giving me a claim form. The mover refuse to help me to throw the broken bed to the recycling bin downstairs of my apartment. Even though he did throw them away in the end, but the interaction I had with him was not pleasant.
They have very bad communication among movers, relocation coordinator. The movers always want to add more money to your move. They care very little about your items. It is very obvious that my boxes were crushed during the move. The only good thing is that those boxes only had clothes in it.
Anyways, I really dislike the whole experience and want to make sure everyone stays away from them. The take-​home message is: too many surcharges, movers with an attitude, unprofessional packing of furniture causing damage along the move. Unless you are willing to pay much more than you should have, you can go ahead and use them. Even in that case, there is no guarantee that the movers won’t give you a finger or two

I came to an agreement with Scout to remove my one star review and have decided to give them two stars and would have considered three stars, but they broke a glass dry erase board in the move. I will post of more in depth review. With the good and the bad shortly.

Okay — Update and an upgrade to 3 Stars. After several phone calls and finally posting some bad reviews I was called by Tim the Operations Manager. Yes he was cordial and acted like a businessman. I would say that he represented the Owner & Business very professionally. After our discussion he sent us a check for $ 600 of the shuttle service charge, which we are very happy to agree with is fair. So we have changed our rating from a one star to a three star.
Again like I told Tim, the service up to that shuttle issue below was good and when Tim took the extra time and effort to talk with us he understood the issue and our position. Did he have to refund any money… No. The fact that he did so, to correct what we believe was a mistake on their part was a good thing. Would we use them again… a definite Maybe. Although I know one thing to look out for if/​when we move again.
The move went fairly well Although the disappointment is setting in more and more every day.
They lost some of our boxes. The biggest issue is the driver called and said they couldn’t get a 53′ truck in our new property and they would have to do the «shuttle» thing and that was of course $ 850.00 extra. What could we do? We wanted our stuff… so we paid. They put the stuff in a smaller truck and brought it in. (Is this when the boxes went missing?)
In any case… since we’ve been here, I’ve seen ATLAS, UNITED, BUDD and other carriers with 53′ trailers and large sleeper cabs pull right in. WTH? Better drivers? Or maybe the $ 850 goes right into the delivery team’s pocket? And now that I’m asking them questions SCOUT MOVING aka CASCADE Relocation is giving us the run around … In short have extra cash ready for the «black mail» oops I mean the truck won’t fit !!!
