A big Thank you to Alex, MO&JP for being A+ movers! They were great at communicating with what our needs were and efficient! I would highly recommend them and use them again!

I had an awesome experience with these guys, so I’m surprised by the negative reviews. We used them for the delivery end of a cross country move with United Van Lines. So they didn’t do much more than bring the truck to my apartment and unload, but they did a really good job with that. They were on time and pleasant. They assembled my stuff and put down protective covering on my floor. They even spent a good 25 minutes trying to get my large couch into my house(finally having to take apart part of a window to get it in, but they did it!!). They were pleasant and professional. Win!

So I’ve just moved across country to Seattle from Dallas and city moving systems are the guys who delivered my things to my new apartment. And things went great the movers were professional and delivered most of my things ok. The QA guy from the company had come out to ensure everything was delivered ok since I have a motorbike. There were damages to a few things including my bike, which the QA guy noted and informed me that everything would be taken care of and an insurance assessor would come and asses the damage. Two weeks later I’m still waiting for this purported assessor. So I called the company to see whats happening only to be told that the form filled out was an internal thing and nothing was being done. I really hate being lied to especially when its the guys responsible for quality assurance for the company. So the movers get a A+ but the QA guy gets an F.

City Moving Systems made our move from Orange County, CA to Seattle very uncomfortable to say the least. When our cars were delivered, I noticed scratches, and immediately called Mandy, the moving coordinator and notified her. When time came to filing a claim, she denied ever receiving a call from me. Talks volumes about this company’s integrity… Our boxes were delivered and the shipping list could not be reconciled with the actual number of boxes — both the captain of the delivery crew and myself counted them three times. Something was missing, but we could not figure out what. As careful as the gentlemen were, the walls of our new house got scratched. I filled out the appropriate paperwork and the crew took it with them. With stuff in boxes around us, I could not even make a copy of the detailed notes made about every scratch. And they were pretty much in every room. Having been through moves before, I got a couple of estimates from painting professionals to fix the problems, and submitted them with my claim. The estimates were in the neighborhood of $ 3,000. City Movng Systems fought me tooth and nail, finally stopped accepting my calls and send me an insulting $ 500 check. Avoid this company like the plague they are! They are in the business of taking advantage of their customers, whatever way they can.

Digging through an old pile of «stuff» in an attempt to de-clutter my home office, I found my old moving paperwork(Yes, that stuff I got when the company paid for me to relocate from sunny San Diego to snowy Seattle.). And though the experience is a little old, I thought I would share my experience since it was actually, quite memorable. I had someone come and pack my home(Not something I would do ordinarily, but hey, I wasn’t paying for it.). The guy who did the packing was also the guy who did the rest of the move from San Diego into the warehouse. He was nice, did a good job packing, and managed to pack my three bedroom house and almost all my belongings(short of those that I was going to be travelling with) into neatly labeled boxes in about 8 hours. The rest of the loading was uneventful and quick. Delivery was easy too — I was able to schedule a convenient time(despite pulling my items out of storage close to Christmas) to get all my possessions. There were a few scratches and dents, which I will admit, I was pretty much expecting. I’ve moved enough times to know that no matter how careful I am, there will always be scratches and dents — and so I wasn’t surprised to see a few scratches on the bigger furniture items, or a few broken items in the boxes(mostly the plastic shoeboxes I own, nothing of actual value). Scheduling a time to meet the claims agent to get a compensation check was a bit of a pain, but at least he did work with my schedule — it just took a while for us to come up with a day/time that was in the near future. I had two cars that had to be shipped, at two different times — one was after I moved(Thanks to the body shop not being able to finish my car before the move, but that’s a while different story.). The same guy picked up the cars — that part was the easy. Getting the first car picked up was an easy task, since I had a friend drive me down to City Moving for me and I didn’t have to coordinate the pick up with the driver, which it turns out was a good thing, because the man was entirely selfish and unaccommodating and really, really made me want to reach out through the phone and strangle him. He called me to schedule a drop off during a time that I absolutely could not be home — he refused to change the order that the cars were on his truck — and basically told me «I am absolutely accommodating as long as you can be there at 9 am on x-day.» Really — accommodating? How is that accommodating? After arguing with him for almost an hour, I ended up telling him that I was just going to have to talk to the moving coordinator, Liz. The response I got? «Do whatever you want, she can’t make me change my schedule.» Jerk. Liz worked it out for me, and no, I didn’t have to deal with the truck driver(which is kind of a bummer, because I totally would have enjoyed kicking him in the nuts). Instead she had the car transferred to a different truck and the other delivery driver was so much more accommodating and I had my car later that day… And the world was all normal again. Moving — a pain. But at least if someone else can do the work for you and take care of most of your headaches, not so bad. I did get to see the final bill for these guys, and my move was not cheap — but if someone else is paying for it why not? –2 stars for the jack*ss car delivery driver, giving the rest of the nice and competent people I had the pleasure of working with 3 stars.

Everyone has pretty low expectations of movers, but having had a good experience with another United Van Lines Company, I expected a decent experience with City. I couldn’t have been more wrong! My cross-country move was not assigned to a driver until the very last second, my stuff had to be transported to a warehouse where it sat, and I didn’t know when my stuff would get there until just prior to its arrival. Moving into a condo building where you had to reserve an elevator, this did not make many new friends. When my stuff finally got there, several key things were broken, which ended up resulting in an insulting $ 60 check a full six weeks later(vs. $ 500 at least in value). I would avoid these guys if at all possible!

I moved into my new condo yesterday afternoon and City Movers did a great job. My condo has a lot of strict rules and they followed everyone! I made them move one piece of furniture 3 times and they did it with a smile… I was very impressed. I couldn’t imagine moving furniture all-day everyday with a smile on my face!
