This restaurant is now closed!!! This place never had much business so I’m surprised it stayed open for as long as it did. Never ate there myself but a Laotian lady I work with took her family there and said it was very bad.

6÷4÷16EDIT: How ironic, I left the below review only 1 day ago, I just went again today. I left the house at about noon, I didn’t call ahead as it was 1hr before their 1pm opening, and I figured they wouldn’t answer. so I said to myself, there’s no way they could be closed today, so I’ll just head over… Ha Ha. Joke was on me. I got there at 12:50, there’s a sign on the front door glass saying they will open at «6pm today» … COMEONNOW… wtf… I don’t think I’m going to waste anymore time with this restaurant. you can’t/shouldn’t re-work your hours to suit your needs on such a frequent basis… it’s not serving, and providing a consistent convenience for us the customers… –2 stars… 6÷3÷16ORIGINALREVIEW: CALL before you go; 3 out of 4x we’ve went they’ve been unexpectedly closed(holiday, and special«function» related. but still). Great food, the other reviewers have summarized that. Nice décor, friendly staff; tasty authentic food!

This place is AMAZING. Their Laotian food is so delicious, fresh, and authentic. I recommend the laarb(pork!), papaya salad, and chicken wings. The wings are perfectly moist on the inside and crispy on the outside, and pair amazingly with the zesty papaya salad. Their sticky rice is expertly cooked, and needs to be eaten the authentic way(with your hands)! We also ordered two sushi rolls and their tuna/conch bowl which reminded me of Hawaiian poke. I was pleasantly surprised by their sushi, absolutely delicious. You have to check this place out!

Best authentic tasting Laotian or Esan food within the 50 states. Guaranteed! Their ganormai had us literally fighting over who get to sip the last drop. The authenticity of these dishes were just how our family has been making for generations. Our stomach were full and our hearts were fulfilled. Thanks to the owner and the chef for keeping Lao food authentic and for their generosity and hospitality. So addicting, we drove 2 ½ hours the following day for more. It was worth it.

Been here since 1:00 pm smh. Waited for over 20+ minutes. Why have hours of operations if you aren’t planning on opening. Bad business

We found this place on Unilocal and we are sooooo happy that we did! We’ve been looking for a place to eat sushi for a while and we finally found one worth going to. It’s a shame that they’re not busy. When you first walk in you might be concerned that the food will not be up to par because of the lack of people but don’t let that steer you away! We seriously had the best sushi/food. We started out with crab puffs. We had the Sydney(which I highly recommend), the Tampa, and the Caribbean(it’s a warm sushi, first time I’ve tried), and we ordered chicken teriyaki! It was all so good and great customer service! We will definitely become regulars :)

Why 4 stars? Because this was an outside-the-box experience. — — — I find myself to be more of an adventurous eater than most. I’ll usually try anything once. I get annoyed with people who are close-minded and won’t at least *try* something. But during my visit to Sohkdii, I reached my limits. Coagulated pig blood. Yep. It was a part of a certain soup that a bunch of my dining mates shared, family-style. I was all like, «hell yeah man, let’s try it!» And then once I actually had to hold it up my mouth, I was filled with regret. What am I doing? I’m about to eat pig blood. But my friends encouraged me, and in an effort to not be picky, I went for it. At first, it tasted like flavor-less Jello, and then it tasted like… well, blood. I spit it into a bowl with disgust, of course. At this time, my friends decided to admit that you can, indeed, taste a little blood. Some friends, huh? But Sohkdii is not really about pig blood. You will not be force fed the blood from any mammal, in fact. The only other«weird» item I tried were the chicken feet. They actually tasted like any other part of the chicken. Getting the actual meat off the bones was just a bit more challenging than, let’s say, the rib cage off the breast. This is quite a gross and vivid review, ey? SERIOUSLY though, there is totally a bunch of normal food here. What each dish was called, will be a challenge for me to recall. As I mentioned, everything was served family-style, and I did a poor job of taking notes on each one. Jaimie T and Boon C got pretty specific with all of the menu items we were served, but I couldn’t even tell you which is which. Know this: you can visit Sohkdii, and order very typical menu items that you’d fine at other Asian restaurants. Don’t let my review scare you off. I just hang with Tampa Bay’s foodiest foodie, Boon C, and his brother from another mother, Nick S, who make me feel like my palette is close-minded.

I met up with a group of amazing Unilocalers at Sohkdii for Nick S.‘s birthday last month. Now anyone who knows me is well aware that I don’t branch out a lot with my food choices. However, one of my resolutions for the year was to try a new type of food, so who better to do it with than some of Tampa’s most trusted foodies? Sohkdii offers traditional Laotian and other regional Asian dishes. The first dish that we tried was probably the most difficult for me to endure: Khao Boon, a noodle dish containing minced meat, chicken feet, and pork stomach and blood. Clearly this was not my first choice! I tried a bit of the noodles but the seasoning was just not for me. The next dish was Laab, the national dish of Laos. It is made of chopped chicken, pork, or duck meat with skin and liver. There was a strong taste of lime and it was served cold and with sticky rice or lettuce. This was an improvement from the Khao Boon, but still not something I loved. After the first two dishes, I was a little wary for what was to come. But the next course happened to be something that I would definitely order again! The Thom Khem, which is a pork stew with hard-boiled eggs, had a delicious salty flavor and wasn’t totally outside of my comfort zone. The chicken satay was another one of my favorites, for obvious reasons. I also really liked Kay’s famous chicken wings, which had a little kick to it beneath the sweet glaze. Unfortunately, they were out of a few other items that I think I would’ve enjoyed(crab, sausage, fish, etc.). The staff, Kay and Toy, were incredibly accommodating and allowed us to help ourselves since we had such a large party. They did their best to stay on top of all of our orders and crazy requests throughout the afternoon. It may not have been a total success as far as me liking new foods, but I’m proud of myself for trying out a new cuisine! Laotian food is full of different flavors and textures, so it’s something that everyone should try at least once.

It is great to have the friend birthday at a restaurant that I have not been before. I like a sense of adventure for the food. I am not a Laos expert but I am grew up from Southeast Asia and i have some familiarity with the food for the region. We have Hale Mary Salad, Laab Chicken, Nam Khao and Khao Boon. Khao Boon– a dish in my name. I need a cut from every customer who eat the dish for using my name :). Khao Boon is a out of taste experience from typical American food. It has chicken feet, pig blood jello, fried pork belly fat, mince pork or chicken and sherrard cabbage. It serve with coconut curry. Chicken Laab is a mixture of stir fried chicken, skin and liver over the lettuce and cucumber. This is a interesting dish. It is a national dish of Laos and go with sticky rice. This restaurant serve food that not seen often in USA town and city. If you want to try some thing different, come to check it out. The service is slow compared to normal restaurant. This may be the area to improve.

Is the older large scale interior 5 stars? No. Is service on par with Bern’s? No. But the food is on point and highly unusual. Bursting with flavor. So for a place that serves up fresh Lao dishes you can’t get anywhere else in the area that are sumptuous and vibrant I’m all in. I want to get back and try more ASAP. In addition to some wild and interesting Laotian food they also serve sushi. It’s a casual and friendly place. So fun to learn about a new cuisine. The décor and culture is also highlighted. And they have cool t-shirts for $ 12. They were out of several dishes, but there was lots to try and I need to get back ASAP. Toy took good care of us. Get wowed with Lao adventures at tasty Sokhdii. It’s a large place but usually quiet.

Delicious food! Tried four different items while at the SPIFFS event. Clean, very flavorful! Update: I visited this restaurant with friends. I had the Laab with duck(medium heat). The Khaos roll(shrimp) was delicious and the spring rolls were wonderful as well. This restaurant has lots of seating and a nice bar area with seating as well.

Went here for lunch during a Wednesday. I had read that service was pretty slow, but I had no issue with that going into it. I get there at around 12:00(they open at 11am) the door is locked. Oh no! They must be closed! Surprisingly someone opens the door one minute later. «I’m sorry I thought we had unlocked it already!» Welp. they were open for an hour with a door locked. Service was slow as expected, but the food was not bad. Definitely get the Lao fried chicken(Beak Gai), ask for it plain but sauce on the side. It’s really crispy, but since I didn’t eat it fast enough just the first couple pieces were crispy. Also, this is on the appetizer side and price range, but it comes with about 5 pieces of chicken, which I could see being enough for some people. I got the chicken Laab, which I actually thought was a little dry. I’m not sure if that’s how it is always prepared. I was also recommended the pork, but I chose chicken I dont know why. Lastly, I also had the Nam Khao, which is the pork lemon rice thing. Uh the only way I can describe this is: meat and rice ceviche. if you like ceviche and always wanted to try it with meat. get this. Otherwise, it may be too lime-y for you. Overall, It’s pretty good and I would go again, just didn’t enjoy the laab(which was the last dish that came so it ended on a pretty bad note, but willing to try again, and I could see it going up to 4 stars if i just ordered more stuff i liked!

I am going to consider myself a pro eater at Sohkdii from now on. Let’s face it, I visit this little gem of a restaurant every week; sometimes twice a week depending on my bank account(lol jk). It’s only as good as what you consider what an ideal«great» restaurant is. Beautiful decorations, large seating arrangements, steady service and very authentic food. First time comers will judge this place base on its appearance next to crappy olé’ CiCi’s pizza and a closed down Sonic; an adequate plaza. Ignore the plaza; just walk in Sohkdii for a nice meal. Wishing I can give this place 6 stars because +1 for service(even though slow, employees are always lit) +1 for great food +1 clean bathroom +1 awesome atmosphere +1 huge menu +1THEONLYPLACETHATHASBAKEDMUSSELSAROUNDPINELLAS!

This fresh taste is a welcome addition to the already wide Asian food selection in the Pinellas Park/Kenneth City area. The friendly staff is happy to guide you through the large menu which has a few Thai and Vietnamese offerings to help ease those who are a bit timid about the new cuisine. Traditional Laotian food is filed with different layers of flavors, and textures. It is fresh and healthy. The spices used are flavorful and the heat levels are layered and customized to the individual. I had the national dish, Laab. The mixture of pork, ground rice, spices, and chopped vegetables, is served with sticky rice and a delicious broth. The food, while a bit more expensive than the average lunch, is plentiful.

Really good food. Super clean Great service. It’s byob so that saves u money. Food is fresh and delicious. Have tried many dishes and haven’t been disappointed with anything. mexcept the squid salad. I didn’t care for that at all. Too fishy and full of lime. Everything else from the spring rolls to the yummy duck noodle soup rocked definitely a repeat place for us

This place is pretty cool. Though I didn’t think it existed because I couldn’t find it, but it’s tucked into that strip mall BEHIND Sonic. I chose it because of how late it was open, and I needed to eat. I’m glad I did. Our waitress was really nice and attentive. The sushi chef was nice too. I ordered a sweet potato roll, spider roll, and their pork egg rolls. I devoured every last bit of what I ordered. The only complaint I have is they don’t have wine yet, but otherwise, all good.

This place is fantastic, a hidden gem, I kind of don’t want to tell you how good it is because then I’ll have to start waiting for tables. However, they’re in a divey location off the beaten path and I want them to stay open forever and open a location closer to my house, so I’m going to implore you to go. The Chicken noodle soup is amazing The lettuce wraps are amazing I have never had anything here that wasn’t phenomenal, the staff is polite, reasonably attentive, and very willing to help you navigate the menu. Just go, you will not be sorry.

Oh, my Goodness! This place is the definitive Hidden Gem. Tucked away in a strip shopping center(behind the Taco Bell on 66th St), I walked into another world. First, it is decorated BEAUTIFULLY. Second, the food was outstanding. Third, the service was excellent. And fourth, it was all reasonably priced. I started off with a sushi handroll, the Phosavanh, which was crawfish, snowcrab, krabstick and conch baked in a not too spicy mayo sauce. It was INCREDIBLE! Sooo delicious. We are off to a great start. Next, I had the Laab, the national dish of Laos, which was ground up chicken and chicken liver(I requested no skin). It possessed a myriad of flavors, just right, none that overwhelmed but all that complimented the food. The menu offered so many outstanding choices, I know that I am destined to return again and again. This place is a winner, folks, and, like the Terminator, I’ll be back.

Alright guys, the hype is real. Get here now and eat some delicious food! We promised our server we would be back this weekend so I’m excited to try some of the other more unique dishes. When we pulled in I was like errrr… where the f am I lol. it’s located right off 66th St in a strip mall. Right next to a Cici’s Pizza. After eating here, I was thinking all the people I was watching go next door were crazy– most definitely would pick Sohkdii over that! Interior of the restaurant is beautiful. They completely renovated everything inside from what I was told by our lovely server. Menu is unique. I’ve never heard of some of the items. Along with the Laos menu, there is a sushi menu. Awesome looking sushi bar in middle of the restaurant. We ordered pork eggrolls, papaya salad, chicken wings and Laos sausage. And I also placed a to go for the hubby since he was at work. Eggrolls– crunchy and had good filling. Not overstuffed with cabbage. Chicken wings– nice seasoning! Not greasy and were fried perfectly. My son tore them up. The sweet chili sauce that accompanied it was soooo good! It’s made in house and is a secret recipe. I found that out when I jokingly asked our server for the recipe LOL. Papaya salad– I opted for mild(2 peppers) and wow! I must be a big sissy cas that was spicy lol. But it was so good with the sticky rice I couldn’t stop eating. Eat through the burn, baby. The pork sausage was yummy. I could taste the fresh herbs in it and it went nicely with the tomato chili paste it came with. So. Much. Food. They also have desserts such as fried bananas, fried ice cream and a couple other things I forgot. She also mentioned they change up the taro ice cream flavors weekly. Our server was maybe one of the most personable and friendly people I’ve ever interacted with at a restaurant. I can’t believe I didn’t catch her name. I suck. Anyways, service was prompt, food was amazing and I will be back this weekend! If anyone wants to do a UYE here, I’m down! Oh yeah, and the prices are phenomenal for what you get. So yes fellow Unilocalers, truly worth the 5 star rating.
