Visited this café because of the reviews… the service was slow… people were served before us even though we ordered before them. The Cuban sandwiches were Burnt! The server said umm, nice and crispy as she served them… I have had many Cubans and this was dry and burnt!!! Won’t go there again ever. The sandwiches we received did not look like the pics on Unilocal.Ours were actually black in spots.

Stopped in after reading the reviews and craving a good Cuban sandwich. I was a little skeptical after seeing the outside appearance but quickly realized that didnt matter. I stopped in during there busy time so waited a little longer than normal. The counter person was very nice and working pretty hard to keep up with orders. I ended up getting the large Cuban with a meat pie and side of rice and beans. No, I did not finish it all! Lol. The sandwich was pretty darn good and so are the prices. I think the sandwich was like 7 bucks. I like to try new Cubans but my allegiance still stays with Tia’s and Bodega. This place is definitely worth a try if you are in the area. They have a pretty extensive menu for a restaurant of this size.

Love their red beans, black beans, split peas soup and my favorite — Caldo Gallego made with white beans, chorizo, collard greens, and other vegies…

Ok, I have to admit I loved it. Great, authentic Cuban food at reasonable prices. It’s not fancy, I generally dislike restaurants in strip malls, but this place is good and worth the trip.

We are just visiting the area. Came here because of the reviews. It looks a little rough from the outside but we’ll worth the stop. Very very good beef chucks!!! If we are ever in the area again we will be back.

outstanding home cooked Cuban food in a modestly simple and clean deli-style kitchen. All fresh ingredients with special attention devoted to the balanced but potent seasoning of beef, ham and pork. back in my hometown on vacation from San Jose where there is plenty of great Mexican cuisine but no real authentic Cuban presence. Cuban sandwiches might be ubiquitous in Tampa and St. Petersburg but skip the bland and overpriced pretense and take the road less traveled to this Kenneth City mom and pop shop off 54th ave near 66th st and you won’t ever want to leave because you will feel at home. started with the massive Cuban sandwich(no salami, no Swiss and no mustard to suppress the delicate ham and pork favors) along with a perfect rainy day café con leche while several regular customers dined and conversed vigorously with the owners and greeted me genuinely with enthusiasm for the food. then they brought me samples of deliciously light and fluffy flan and rich black bean soup as well as a smidgen of pulled pork. mmmmmmmmm. two minutes later: zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Went for lunch today with the family and had the Cuban. We also split the meat pie. It was amazing!

Had a chef suggested cuban pork and rice plate that was fantastic. The pork had excellent flavor and could have been any more tender and juicy. There were some small red colored beans in the rice and they give you some toasted cuban bread with the meal. Will return for sure.

This place is everything the other reviewers have bragged on and more. I’m visiting from Atlanta and would almost consider moving here so I could eat at this place regularly.

The food was delicious… We had the Cuban sandwich, red beans and beef empanada. All the food was well seasoned. Service was great. Everything was homemade. We will definitely go back the next time we are in the area…

The liquor store and neighborhood add to the charm of this place. It’s really cute, and it’s clearly family operated. Don’t let the exterior influence your decisions — panera bread it’s not… But the food is delicious. We had the Cuban sandwiches, the plantains, the ham croquettes, and papa rellenas. All were fantastic.

I’ve been craving for a Cuban sandwich for awhile now it definitely satisfy my cravings. Perfectly pressed! We got both the meat and crab empanadas. I prefer the meat over the crab. We also got the stuffed potato, which was quite delicious! Only thing we were missing was hot sauce, but that was because we got togo. Will definitely be back.

My new go to spot for anything Cuban, it was perfect and thy were very sweet. We had chicken stew and a Cuban sando both were perfection. Don’t skip it and don’t be afraid to ask questions if you’ve never had Cuban food(I’ve had a lot).

I know Cuban Food, it’s all I ate growing up. If you’re able to put 2 and 2 together you’ve already figured out I’m Cuban. Born and raised in Miami and I’ll tell you right now this place is solid as fuck. Mama Perera is as sweet as can be, and she does zero fucking around in the kitchen. It’s a hole in the wall, and not the kind of place you’d bring someone to impress, unless they don’t care about ambiance, then u can impress them with the fact you found some or the bombast ass Cuban food in all the bay in Kenneth City out of all places. For all those reasons this place gets 5 stars. After just 1 visit I’m a regular

Excellent Cuban sandwich. Not much seating; but I think it’s mostly a take out place. The folks here that own the place are real nice. They make sure to give you a smile and are quite considerate. There really isn’t much to this place to report except the food is really good. I’ll be back here, definitely.

Awesome food and service. They’re making all of my food fresh(I saw mama bust out the bananas and eggs, and onions for my chicken). I ordered the boliche eye round roast($ 7.75) w two sides and grilled chicken pollo a la plancha($ 7.75). My sides were yellow rice and plantains. Café con leche was good too. I took pictures of the menu and the breakfast menu looks very cheaply priced! Whoot. Food was great on all accounts. Will be back !
