Very under staff, the service takes forever, and the people who are working can’t even give you a smile. The food was not good and way undercooked.

Mom was in town and hungry. Went to Jay’s for the first time. She had a big omlette, hash browns and toast. Said the omlette was perfect, not too much or too little of any one ingredient. I had the bacon, hash browns, scrambled eggs and toast. Bacon was crispy like it should be. Hash browns were crispy and not burnt. Toast was delicious and so were the eggs. More than I could eat for a $ 9 breakfast. Coffee was not too strong, weak, or burnt. OJ tasted REALLY fresh. Service was excellent(Monday morning).

Went there today for breakfast. I won’t be back. The worst biscuits and gravy I have ever had. Toast was half toasted. Hash browns were undercooked. Week coffee. Just and overall terrible breakfast. Service was good though.

I love mom and pop type places, so I wanted to check out Jay’s Café as it looked to be this type of place. Just having moved to Kenmore, I wanted to find some new places to eat. The food was pretty good and the staff was really great. However, they really need to put a fresh coat of paint on the place. Looked like they had not painted the inside of the place in over 30 years. Bathroom was pretty gross too. They just really need to give the place a facelift!

Food is okay, they give decent size portions. Price is relatively under the $ 10 amount. It’s fairly comparable to a Denny’s diner but Jays has better customer service. Overall had a decent experience.

If you want to stand in line on a sidewalk for an hour with the rest of your foodie pals, waiting to pay someone to make you eggs, then this ain’t the place. But if you want to take your family to a good-old-fashioned diner, where the waitresses know your crew and your druthers, and the platters come full and hot, then Jay’s is it. Truth be told, though, Jay: the place could really use a good scrubbing.

I stop by here a couple times a week after work for breakfast. Every once in awhile I order something other than breakfast and I’m almost always disappointed. However I’ve never had a bad breakfast of anykind here. So my advice is to stick with the breakfast menu. It’s yummy and the prices are very good. The place isn’t much to look at, but it’s clean enough.

Went here today(News Years Day 2016) and was one of the worst experiences I’ve had. Had 3 people at my table. Ordered French toast, Crapes, pancakes. Took over an hour to get our food. After waiting an hour my wife’s Crapes were nasty. Imagine warming up Taco Bell sour cream and eating that. That’s what her Crapes tasted like. Runny, nasty and sour. After eating a piece of French toast I go to take a bite and I find a giant hair in my food. The Server never apologized for the long wait after bringing us our food. When I told her how nasty the food was and showed her the hair, she did the right thing and refunded us. But I won’t be coming here again. This was my 2nd time coming. Came here one time before about a year ago and it was much better. I dunno what happened but today was horrible. Bad food, place is dirty, and the wait was ridiculous.

Seriously, this is fast becoming my favorite greasy spoon diner. I’ve found they have the best chicken fried steak around. A hearty breakfast, delicious. I want to make it I for lunch/dinner then I’ll update my review. The staff is helpful, the coffee is great!

I come here often with family for Sunday brunches. This place is your typical no frills diner type joint. Run down in appearance, the food is definitely the strength of Jay’s. Healthy portions of good food are what you can expect. The menu is full of old traditional dishes like Eggs Benedict(my favorite), biscuits and gravy, and pancakes. They also have several unique dishes that I haven’t tried yet(probably because I’m lazy). There is a bar for traditional diner style eating, and tables and booths. There’s always a TV with the game on which is nice. The food is always delivered quickly, and with a smile. For affordable, reliable, good food with no frills, Jay’s is a great place.

An awesome little diner/café. Great food, great portions, great price. If you’re looking for fancy, this isn’t it. But this is delicious home cooking in a cozy place filled with down-to-earth folks. I love it! The gyro omelette is my favorite, gyro meat/feta/veggies, so good! I ordered mine with a «side» of french toast that was huge! As well as perfectly crisp on the outside and fluffy inside! My first cup of coffee was, admittedly, a little weak, but my second cup(probably a new batch) made up for it!

I was a little confused walking in because the place is called Jay’s Café but it looks more like a diner to me. When people say diner, I think of a counter to eat at like Denny’s and when I hear people say café, I think of a glass display refrigerator filled with pastries like at Starbucks. Jay’s has a counter but no glass display refrigerator. Anyway, this is just your average diner that has nothing too special to offer. The place has undergone lots of wear and tear, so I’m thinking that it’s been around a while. My mom and I came here because she was too tired to cook and I got the Joe’s Special, which is spicy ground beef, sautéed spinach and onions in scrambled eggs. I ordered it instead of the Meat Lover’s Omelette just because there was a little vegetable to spice things up. I didn’t know it would have that much spinach in it but it’s no big deal, spinach is good for you. They also had the doors open or something because there was this really annoying fly that kept coming around us. One hand was for holding the fork to eat and the other hand was on guard to shoo away the fly. Bottom line: if you don’t feel like cooking at home and are really hungry, come to Jay’s Diner, but bring your fly swatter just in case.

Super yummy food! It’s a greasy spoon sort of place, so if you are looking for a place that has fancy décor, this isn’t the place for you. If you want good food and great service, stop in! The food is always good — consistent no matter who is cooking and the wait staff is so wonderful. We lived in Kenmore for years and now that we have moved away, it is the place we return to for breakfast when we are back in town to visit.

The best home cooking food around. Jay is so nice, and Annie the server, is the best around anywhere. We go there sometimes just to see her. Amazing chicken Marsala, ask her who’s cooking before you order it. Some cooks do it way better than others. Very large portions, reasonable prices, and kid friendly. Typically an older crowd, but all are welcome. Our favorite weekend hangout.

Love love love this place. Comfy greasy spoon café that has, in my opinion, the best breakfast… the key is their shredded hash browns browned to order. The staff makes this restaurant on Saturday and Sunday morning a wonderful place to eat.

I’m sorry, but how does this place have 4.5 stars? I can appreciate a greasy spoon. Greasy spoon Jays is not… more like a dirty spoon, that fell on the floor, and your server picked it back up and put it on your table for you to use… This place is gross! It’s dirty and it’s not very good food. Chef Ramsay! We need your help. Please come do an episode of Kitchen Nightmares. Love, Kenmore, WA

This is a great cozy place with a good breakfast menu and good helping. I’ve been here a half dozen times and haven’t been disappointed. Everything is fresh made and tasty to boot. They even have a TV if you want to watch the game or news. Many seniors frequent Jay’s so if you looking for something more hip for younger folks this may not be the place, but they sure have plenty of regulars showing up for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

My girlfriend and I have eaten here twice. The first time we came in on a Sunday after moving into the area and sat in the back. They were busy but the service was precise. The second time we called an order Togo. Our phone call was answered by a rushed gentleman who said«hold» and it sounded like he shoved the phone into a woman saying«I don’t have time for a Togo order here» the woman irritated and rudely asked me «what can I get you» I ordered my food and she said okay and hung up. No total. No wait time. I waited 10 min and picked up my food. Which was amazing. As always. Just questionable service.
