on the drive back from lake placid to NYC, we ended up stopping by this store. this place is awesome. i want my wardrobe and my apt to look like this. don’t be fooled however. just because you’re far out of nyc does not mean prices are lower… in fact, it was on par or more.

Rustic and charming, full of whimsy. The only reason it gets 4 instead of 5 is it is a bit expensive(but didnt stop me from buying a few trinkets).

Lots of options. Priced higher but you can find affordable gifts and clothes. A cute place, definitely worth popping in if you’re wandering around town!

The Birch Store had a lot of charming little trinkets that would entice any New Englander from a big city who was looking for a vacation. Carefully curated, the styles range from BoHo chic to eclectic and elegant. While the merchandise is clearly tailored to the gentrified summer visitors, I would have liked to have seen more locally produced items. That being my main criticism(things did seem a little pricey but I’m cheap), Over the years I’ve picked up many little trinkets that have become staples in my wardrobe and food service during cocktail parties. I would recommend this shop for finding a housewarming present for your host or hostess or a little something to spice up your own wardrobe or summer cottage.

One of the loveliest shoppes I have had the honor of visiting in recent memory. I never would have expected to find The Birch Store in rural Upstate NY but if it were plucked up and placed anywhere I usually go Downstate, such as Rhinebeck, Millbrook or some towns in Westchester, it would still be as nice and certainly as competitive. The ladies working there were so helpful as we made our way through their plentiful offerings of the softest most colorful cashmere sweaters, organic cosmetics, Asian home décor, interior design books, fragrant candles, childrens’ clothing, Adirondack picture frames, etc. Just amazing! And they were having a tent sale too with some great deals, especially Wellies if you have size 5 feet, lol. I got a pair of handmade felted slippers and a specialty knife for The L. MNO, I would have happily left with more but no need to be greedy. If driving to Lake Placid Keene Valley is definitely worth a stop and stretch with not only this great shop but others and a yummy café. All wonderful things in some unexpected places. :)))
