Gems House of Bagels

Sadly this Gems bagels is not like the store i frequent in Hazlet near Toys R Us. Gluten free should mean gluten free! I watched the guy make my sandwich and it was so cross contaminated, he even cut it with a knife he just cut another bagel with and continued to use another knife to put mayo on it… asked for plain no dressing. I’m just saying if you go to the trouble of carrying gluten free, we’ll try to keep it that way. I didn’t complain because I was with business people and just wanted to get out of there. Gems Hazlet is so careful if I ask them to make me something. So I didn’t eat the food, I took it and gave it away because I guess I wasn’t specific enough. So my point to all those with a Gluten allergy be very clear. One of the people I was with had a chicken parm and they really enjoyed it.

It’s very good but so so overpriced and expensive! For my family of 5 to eat it’s about 40 dollars! That’s ridiculous! Go to Pluggys in union beach reasonable cheap prices for the same quality

Always the best bagels and sandwiches! They’re so awesome, too. I’m never disappointed. And a real gems customer doesn’t pay with their card!!! It’s just not right! Lol

I have been coming every pretty much every Sunday since i moved into town. That alone says enough. Fresh bagels & friendly staff make this a really great local bagel shop.

I like Gems, the counter people are fast and friendly. The be false are made fresh on site daily and so are the specialty cream cheese spreads. They are generous with the spreads and the coffee is consistent.
I’d say prices are a bit high but obviously things are working because they have been in this location for a long while now and they are always very busy.

Best bagels, breakfast sandwiches, and deli sandwiches in the area. Always amazing and they have some pretty creative options rather than plain old Italian or turkey, etc. I moved away from the area and am cravinggg a gem’s bagel! Please come to South Jersey! Their bagels are a joke down here. you’d make a killing!
Their buffalo chicken is delicious as is anything else you’d get. Everything is fresh!

LOVE this place. Such a great small town feel complimented by a great NJ bagel. Their deli goods are also fresh and they make one hell of a chicken and tuna salad. Home made cream cheese is great too. Only drawback, hitting it on a rush on a weekend morning. You won’t wait long but gets packed. Excellent though!

Moving from Brooklyn I needed to find a good bagel joint. This place def is right up there with its bagels. I’ve tried other spots but gems is always my go to spot for a bagel. It’s not Brooklyn but it’s close!

Place is overrated. Breakfast sandwiches are decent but expensive. Drinks are expensive as well. Not terrible but not amazing.

Moving from NY to NJ I was looking for a good bagel place. Well, Gems is it. The bagels are fresh, soft, not too big where you feel disgusting after eating it, and really flavorful and delicious. I’m so happy to find a good bagel place that makes me feel like I’m not missing the bagels in NY. Will definitely be back, and will definitely recommend to others.

Gotta love a great Jersey bagel joint! Killer bagels. Good chicken salad. 3 cute and friendly ladies working there. Can’t beat it. Will definitely return.

Consistent is the best way to describe this bagel shop. Let’s not forget their coffee is always fresh and I give their bean 5 stars.

Gems is my local bagel place. I work in Manhattan, and we have «Bagel Mondays,» where we take turns buying bagels. My co-​workers pull from the best bagel places in the city. Me? I bring Gems, and everyone says they’re the best bagels they’ve had. Crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside, and made fresh throughout the day. They cannot be beat.

I have been coming here every Sunday for almost 5 years. Bagels are excellent and they are always good to my son (give him a sticker) and make small talk w/​me. Nice place.

Man, how I miss going here! I no longer live in Jersey, but when I visit, I’m at Gems all the time! This was an everyday stop for me when I was in highschool! Going in there now 18 or so years later. the place looks the same, some of the staff are the same, and the food tastes the same! Love it!

While the bagels are great, and that consistency is great across all the Gems in the area, the issue with this location is the use of microwave ovens, in place of a gill. I am not sure if this is an issue with fire codes, or what, but to me pork roll is disgusting in the microwave… They get 2 just based on the good bagels.

The only thing more Jersey than guido’s and fist pumping is amazing bagels.
Gem’s may be my home away from hometown favorite, but I love their bagels. The place is tiny and located in downtown Keansburg, but whenever I visit my in-​laws I go out of my way to stop by. Treat yourself to their piping hot bagels in egg, sesame, garlic, poppy, and everything. I was there on Sunday and had the standard order of 15 bagels (pay for 12) so that I could take them back to PA and eat them all week. The plain bagels were right out of the oven and melted in my mouth– they were so good that I did not even need butter or cream cheese.
In addition I love the prices (extremely cheap) and old cash register that is definitely older than mine.
Gem’s Bagels– the best export Jersey has to offer since Bruce Springsteen.

Fast breakfast & lunch when your on the go! Very Good!
